I stopped by Family Delicatessen on a Saturday and ordered the Green Goddess, a vegetarian option with hummus, avocado, apple, and lots of veggies. I will give them credit: they did not skimp on the veggies! However, there was not a whole lot of hummus or avocado so it kind of just tasted like eating veggies on a piece of baguette. A very good piece of baguette, to be fair, but I just wish there had been a little more flavor. The deli itself is very cute with lots of imported Italian foods, like unique pastas and sauces. Service was speedy and super friendly. I definitely need to go back to give them another chance!

The shop sells cheese (and they let you have samples), wine, and imported foods, but it also a full deli that serves sandwiches, salads, prepared food, and more. My mom is vegan but was able to make a very good vegan sandwich (hummus and lots of veggies), while I really really really really loved their French Picnic sandwich (French ham, brie, apples, and honey mustard on baguette). It was the best brie (and soooo much brie) that I've ever had and just a perfect sandwich. There was a little wait to order - it's a popular spot - but once our sandwiches were in a brown paper sack in our hands, we drove over to Walden Pond and enjoyed them there. What could be a more perfect lunch on a first visit to Concord than a great sandwich from the Concord Cheese Shop enjoyed looking out at Walden Pond?! I'd return for that sandwich - and next time I'm tasting cheeses, too!

I ordered and waited for my food, paid then I left. Sorry to say that I was dismayed but there it is. It was quite busy on the day and it seemed that crowd management could have been handled better. Perhaps when the store has its remodel the traffic flow can be improved upon. I've always enjoyed shopping here and would like that to continue..

Not a lot of variety of water, but the large Poland Springs keeps you hydrated. I'm a little bitter someone put cherry scones in the chocolate chip scone basket because at a glance, they look very similar. You can eat inside, but we grabbed ours to go. Only heads-up: they carry Pepsi products (I'm more of a Coke fan), but not a dealbreaker for me. While I was waiting, I watched them make a version of a steak and cheese sub and now I have to go back and try it. All in all, really glad I gave it a shot, and I'll definitely be back!

They use almost half a dozen fresh cold cuts plus cheese. I recommend asking for the Rosemary Parmesan rolls (though the Wheat is not bad either). You can get whatever toppings you want. The staff is very fast--it's amazing how quickly they can assemble a sub with all the different cold cuts they must use. It's quite labor-intensive it seems. I've visited a number of times and the staff is always nice and professional. There's been some staff turnover but the new folks are just as good as the previous ones. They all work hard and are never grumpy. The store is is big, airy and always perfectly clean. I don't remember ever seeing papers or crumbs left on any of the table when I walked in. The prices are high, but when you consider the excellent quality, the always fresh bread, and the large portions, I think it's a pretty good value. Just take home what you cannot eat there. Parking is a little tight in this strip mall, but keep in mind that you can also park on the south side.
