Well giving Nimbin only 3 stars because you are not into weed is just sad.
So here is my take on Nimbin.
What a friendly, beautiful and special place.
The Aquarius Festival 1973 changed this little town forever, attracting visionaries hippies and students from all over Australia .
The international fame that followed the festival also brought an influx of new settlers seeking an alternative lifestyle away from the city. Four decades later , it is this culture that Nimbin is still known for. The city is Australia's hippie destination and one of the worlds alternative lifestyle capitals.
With an eclectic array of cafes and shops the village also features fascinating places like the H.E.M.P Embassy, Nimbin Environment Center , the Rainbow Power Company , Nimbin Craft Gallery ,the Djanbun Permaculture Gardens and the Candle Factory.
Nimbin is surrounded by three world heritage listed rainforests, including Protesters Falls the site of Australia's first successful anti-logging campaign .
It's the perfect place to rest, relax rejuvenate.
In August 2014 , Nimbin lost 3 of its historic buildings in a fire. Destroyed in the blaze were the famous museum , Bringabong and the Rainbow cafe, we be also told that the day was a red moon and a guy committed suicide and a lady lost all her chickens!
There are chickens walking around everywhere , by the way!
In May is the Nimbin MardiGrass held, a law reform ralley on the first weekend.
There are weekly markets and plenty of restaurants and places to stay, from meditation retreats over spiritual guidance or bush walks everything is offered here!
The visitor center is ready to help with all your needs!
Come and visit, we will be back for sure! read more
