I tend to get a little bit anxious if I'm in front of a camera for too long. Photos are not really something that I like to do, however, Carla made me feel incredibly comfortable. She was very communicative while taking photos to help me get my best angle and feel comfortable in my own skin. Before my session, Carla communicated with me through email to help me find what outfits I should wear dependent on what roles I was shooting for. There are quite a few different colored backdrops to choose from. She quickly changed backdrops in between my different looks. And had her soft box set up to perfectly bring out my eyes. After the shoot, she sent me a link so I could go through the gallery and pick the photos that I would like. This experience was absolutely incredible. During our engagement photo shoot, my fiance and I were a bit giggly and awkward but by the end she had us feeling like professional models who felt totally comfortable in front of the camera. She gives incredible direction and was great at getting us into natural poses that she captured so well. Before our wedding she was super organized so that the day of there were no concerns about where to be and when, and we all had a very clear idea of what to expect when it came to how long we would be taking pictures. She was 6 months pregnant at the time and even though that didn't hold her back in the slightest, she came prepared with two extra shooters to help in case she needed it. I think my favorite thing about Meg is that she is so great at making you feel comfortable and keeping the flow of the day going. I never felt like we had to stand around posing forever. She is able to capture such a wide variety of photos in mere minutes because she very clearly directs everyone to where they need to be and is great at drawing out laughs and smiles and natural expressions. Wedding days can be stressful and nerve-wracking and she was so calm and encouraging that she put me at ease. Visit her blog to get a sense of her style, but she is so fantastic at capturing everything from the formal poses photos, unique group shots, beautiful portraits, and those candid moments, without making it look contrived or forced. My friend hired Booth 4 for her wedding this past weekend in Palo Alto. A bunch of us were having a…read moregreat time at the wedding - laughing, taking photos in the photo booth, etc. We took a lot of group photos in the booth and when the size of the group got too big, we accidentally shifted the photo booth back an inch. The attendant literally SCREAMED at our group and said, "GET OUT! GET OUT!! GET OUTTT NOW!!!!!!" Big-eyed and bewildered, we immediately exited the photo booth feeling like we were children getting reprimanded by our parent. I understand he had an obligation to make sure the photo booth stayed in tact, but there is absolutely no need to SCREAM at a group of adults in their mid-30s and completely damper the mood of the wedding. The bride was also in the photo booth at the time, so to have one of her vendors demean her in front of her guests is unacceptable.You are in the service industry. You service people. Have a little more dignity in the way you speak to your customers. Their booth is also so small that any group with more than five people is considered "large." My husband who is 6'2" stood as far back in the booth as possible, and the photos still cut off his entire forehead and eyebrows. Ridiculous. This could be easily fixed if they just got a better lens. Last, the photo booth only prints ONE sheet of photos and the attendant cuts them in to two strips. The attendant REFUSED to print additional prints. For all the other weddings I've attended (including my own), attendants print as many copies as the guests request. That's called customer service. If Booth 4 wants to compete in an already saturated market, they will need to step up their game.

To be honest, I didn't know what I should be looking for in a photographer, except for obviously solid photos from their past clients. Well, Vince and Denise got that down. Communication consistency? Check. They were super easy to get ahold of whenever we needed it. What sets these two apart from others is their incredible level of customer service. It felt like they were simply extensions of our family during the wedding- from having fun with us as we got ready, making sure we had the chance to eat our own food during out appetizer/cocktail hour (seriously, Vince brought me over TONS of each appetizer we served WHILE Denise photographed us!), to handling our *sometimes* overbearing guests/wedding team. They promised us a good time, and they rocked it. I had THE BEST time at my own wedding, and I know it was due in large part to their assistance and services. It's really quite difficult to have be miserable around these two. A huge shoutout to the business owner, Hyemee, for curating the best self-portrait studio experience possible. Located on the second floor of a commercial building, Near & Dear can be easily accessed by taking a flight of stairs. You'll find a sign that points directly to the studio door. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted by Hyemee who was eager to show us the ropes. She shared tips on how to position ourselves, directed us to the available props, and offered herself as a resource for any questions or concerns. There are a variety of background colors to select from (white, blue, purple, pink, etc.) and cute minimalist stools to sit on! My boyfriend and I did a self-shot session where we had a blast experimenting with the props and capturing our cute moments together. When we were done, Hyemee loaded all our photos onto the computer and requested we narrow them down to our top 5. At one point, I had a hard time picking between two photos and requested her opinion, which she kindly obliged! Once we were set on our 5 photos, she got to editing them right away. They were printed and AirDropped to our phones within 10-15 minutes. You can also purchase additional photos if your selected 5 aren't enough (we did! ;-)). One thing I appreciate about Near & Dear is that the presets/editing style for the photos is GORGEOUS! Other studios usually just give you the raw/unedited versions which is fine too, but the extra step of editing just goes to show how much they care about making your experience feel like an all-inclusive service. Aside from studio sessions, Hyemee also does professional couple/engagement shoots--she was a photographer before she opened this studio and it shows in the way she cares about her clients. As soon as you enter the studio, you can tell that everything was carefully picked out and thought about. All the decorations and props were super cute! Jenny, Hyemee, and Vanessa were super sweet and helped us set up our backdrops, decorations, and props. We also brought along 2 of our dogs! They were all so sweet, patient, and love to them. They played with them while my boyfriend and I took our pictures first. And then they helped us take pictures with our 2 dogs! They were super patient as we picked out our photos and even printed out some film prints for us to take home! We loved our experiences and how our pictures came out. After it was edited, you can really see all the love and time Hyemee put into these pictures. What sets their photos aside from other studios is that it's not super bright and gives a homey/cozy feel. My dogs didn't even want to leave after because he fell asleep in their laps!
