Pizza was not that large, but at $18 (or not even) a pop, that's okay. The dough is a little bland, and the sauce... Where is the flavour! Dante's pizza sauce is so rich, so full of tomato and garlic and everything I love, this just went nowhere near that. The cheese was mozarella, but not the beautiful fresh buffalo mozarella I've now come to expect from my Margherita. It's great for a local, and it was ready within 10 minutes. After a couple of wines, it's nice not to have to drive, but... If I hadn't had those two wines, I would be spending my money at Dante's. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but if you love food with a flavour that packs a punch, I would head elsewhere.

See it IS all about different, big homogenised corporate pizza peeps. We ordered the Fun Guy (yeeeaahhh - NAME!) from the Original Range and the Tom & Cherry from the Buffalo Range (with the fresh stuff, yum). The Fun Guy was fabulous and the Tom & Cherry just needs a little refinement; the cherry tomatoes are too wet which made the pizza soggy and a bit more basil or even pesto would do the trick. But I'm just being picky because Stumpy's is awesome and as a part time vegetarian, I'm hard to please. Gourmet pizzas can be a bit hit and miss but I think overall the epicurian ingredients used at Stumpy's are all good; capers, anchovies, smoked salmon, prosciutto. Not sure about the artichoke hearts; they seem to be the go-to replacement vegetarian ingredient but really the pickled ones are just not that great. And I'll be very happy when sun-dried tomatoes come back in fashion because they're soooo good on pizza. Anyway, prices are super reasonable, Balmoral has a new local character and last but not least - the dough is freakin perfect. Go, try, now!

It wasn't until last year that I actually found out the answer to my question. YES. The food from this weird van in the middle of the Video Ezy carpark is delicious. Like most kebab stops, Delicious Turkish Style Foods offers lamb, beef, chicken and falafel kebabs, as well as rice dishes, salads, burgers and an array of sides including chips and Turkish garlic bread. Unlike most kebab stores however, this van also has pieces of fish, onion rings, and milkshakes available. All the food prepared in the Delicious Turkish Style Foods van is Halal and all the salads always look fresh, crisp and delicious. If you're in the mood for something Turkish, stop by the little icon of a van in Mt Albert and try some food from Delicious Turkish Style Foods, you won't be disappointed!

I don't know why I have this idea - probably from British television, where everything sold out of a cart is grey and comes with peas. It's not fair though, because in real life my experiences have all been positive. White Lady is fine if a little overpriced, and this place is actually pretty good. If you ignore the fact that it's a caravan this could be any Turkish takeaway, and it'd be quite a bit better than a few I've tried. And once you accept that the food isn't full of botulism the fact that it is a caravan gives the place a certain roguish charm. I haven't tried their burgers (call me a traditionalist) but you can't go past a kebab and chips on your way home from the video shop.

I have to say, this was a little strange. I observed the people joining the queue that eventually ended at the friendly female face at the counter. Nicely dressed professionals and such, entering a place that remained less than handsome on the inside as well. Hmm? My friend ordered and I swiftly followed, impressed by the calm demeanour of the woman that served us. She wasn't daunted by the growing queue. We returned to our table just outside the café. In roughly 15 mins, my friend received her order. Maybe another 5-10 mins, and my order arrived... Now, I won't go into details at this stage about the type of food we ordered and ate, but I will say, "Do not deprive yourselves of enjoying a meal at this little gem of a café". The food was fabulous! So good! So tasty! To say the café lacked any real style is no put down. You wouldn't want it here. You want good, honest, tasty food. This is what I got, and I have since returned for more. I'm surprised to read about the poor service had by others. That was NOT my experience. The service was and has since been attentive, and cheerful.
