We stayed at the El Dorado, so we booked a massage at the Nidah Spa. Earlier in the day, we popped in to ask what time we should get there before the appointment, and we were told 20 minutes if we wanted to enjoy the steam room before our appointment, and 10 minutes if we didn't. I think we arrived about a half hour early, and then had time to relax before our appointments. Excellent. We visit Santa Fe every year to ski and get our fill of red and green chile. Usually stay at the El Dorado and take advantage of the Nidah Spa. This time I was fortunate enough to have David as my masseuse. He was wonderful and I would highly recommend him and spa to anyone visiting Santa Fe. read more

If you're looking for a big spa with all the amenities this isn't your place. Located in the el dorado hotel this spa is TINY. Where the lockers are there is one sort of closet nook with a curtain to change in and out of (see my photos). There are only two ladies restrooms and one shower. The room where you wait for your person to come get you for your services is dark and relaxing they served the yummiest black berry tea. I scheduled a pedicure and facial back to back. My pedicure person was about 10 mins late getting me due to a bridal party. When i am seated for my pedicure there isn't any massage chairs it's just an almost booth like seat the kind you see in restaurants. The entire room is loud with ladies gabbing, talking on the phone and chatting. I get more relaxing pedicures from the sketchy $20 places i go to locally. Although my technician was very professional. The same technician then did my facial. While the massage was delightful during it the steam machine only hit half of my face and a ticker clock was going the entire time the steamer was going and it was the most non enjoyable facial I've ever had. For the cost of the services I'd expect more. While the front desk was super professional i just didn't get near the amount of enjoyment or relaxation that i do at other establishments. read more

After reading through the reviews online, I decided to treat myself to a few treatments at Nidah Spa. I had a terrible experience with the therapist I was given & was incredibly disappointed. I will begin by saying that the treatments themselves were just okay (I had the Gold Spun treatment, but there was no dry brushing & no hot stones were used as advertised) & my therapist was truly very nice. However, she coughed throughout the almost two hours we spent together, occasionally going into coughing fits so bad that she had to step away from me multiple times. She also sniffled quite a bit. This was all VERY distracting & I was not able to relax once. Even worse, my therapist smelled SO SO SO strongly of cigarette smoke. I smelled it the second she introduced herself to me for the entirety of my treatments. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. I could hardly breathe, let alone relax. Moreover, every time she came near my face, I had to completely hold my breath. I debated the entire time whether to say something or not, & I even thought about leaving in the middle of the treatment. It was very awkward. At the end, I did decide to speak with the woman at the front desk, who was very understanding. It seems that they were already aware of this issue with this therapist; I first brought up to the woman at the front desk that I thought my therapist was sick, but she immediately replied that the therapist wasn't sick, just a heavy smoker. She told me that therapist had smoked before my treatment & she shouldn't have. She assured me that she & her manager would talk to the therapist. Another thing to add: facilities themselves are okay, but I will say that the carpet in the locker rooms was a bit dingy & there were some stray hairs in the locker room showers. At the end of our conversation, the woman at the front desk offered me a 15% discount & was very apologetic. That was nice, but I honestly don't think it's enough to account for the terrible experience I had. I understand that some things are out of their control (like the coughing & sniffling), but smelling of cigarette smoke that is bad enough to trigger someone's severe allergy is completely in the control of the therapist. I literally could not breathe for two hours. I don't believe I should have paid over $300 for the awful experience I had. read more

The male receptionist is fantastic. I didn't catch his name. He is very helpful and welcoming. The whole spa is really nice and the steam room is a nice touch. My female therapist was fantastic. Incredibly caring staff, with attention to detail, and I loved my service! Upon arriving, we received personalized notes in our locker with samples of Eminence skincare and a chocolate! The spa is smaller and, the weekend we were there was nice and quiet, as opposed to some of the larger spas with more amenities. I prefer to have a more peaceful experience and it was very relaxing! My mom and I both thoroughly enjoyed our treatments and our therapists were top notch. Highly recommend if you prefer a more personalized experience and don't need all the fluff of the larger spas. read more

Nidah Spa is tucked inside the Eldorado Hotel. Nidah is Native American for "your life" and they will pamper you silly. Literally, when I left the massage suite I was very relaxed, useless, meandered around the ladies locker room for a while.... It was like coming slowly back to consciousness and back to the real world. And it seems the real world sucks less after my visit, even 5 days later. A 50 minute massage comes with the Eldorado's Romance Package. For an additional charge, you can add minutes or opt for a different treatment. Irene, my masseuse questioned me about what I liked / disliked and we settled on the Swedish massage with some fine tuning on the shoulder and neck muscles (we were on a road trip, so many hours spent in the car). My fiance had the hot rocks massage with emphasis on his lower back (his massage was extra). I was led into the ladies locker room and shown around. They have a private changing room, lockers, showers and steam bath. Each locker offers toiletries and the most comfy robe I have ever worn. Show up early and take advantage of their eucalyptus steam room. After pruning myself up nicely I stepped into the co-ed meditation room. This area is dimly lit with chairs scattered about. They offer hot tea, cucumber infused water, dried fruit and nuts. My masseuse called my name and for the next 50+ minutes I was in heaven. The massage was fantastic and she hit all of the right places. Talk about magic hands! The previous day I chipped my toenail and ran to Nidah for a emergency pedicure. I was able to secure an appointment with Reiko. Reiko is wonderful, gentle and she immediately made me feel at home. She refreshed my tea and brought me a snack. I wish she scrubbed my feet a bit more (we had gone hiking and rafting, my feet were a mess!) but overall I was very pleased. If you do go, get ready for a hefty bill, my pedicure was $76. The spa itself is beautiful. Warm earth colors greet you when you walk in (golds), the staff is accommodating and polite. The pampering you receive at Nidah is worth the high prices they charge. ****It is necessary to make an appointment. They were fully booked on a weekday 8am to 8pm. read more

Need a spa, folks? I visited Nidah Spa today. My experience with them was awesome. I stopped by yesterday, a day they were closed, unbeknownst to me. The manager, Teresa(?), happened to be there and booked me for a last minute appointment for today. She told me I could arrive early and use the steam room. I arrived there today and was greeted by the front desk personnel. She was a very nice lady. I used the steam room for about 10 min. Great way to start off your massage. It smelled of Eucalyptus in the steam room...cleared up my sinuses. :) Then I visited with Dana. She was A M A Z I N G ! ! Got the Spirit of Heritage treatment. Try it out! read more

This. This is the reason I came to Santa Fe. I needed some serious R&R -- but I needed it done quietly and with a twinge of spiritualism. I needed to be here. Nidah delivered. As mentioned in previous reviews, the decor is earthy & calming and the name means "your life." So, while at the spa, you can contemplate your life. Are you moving too fast? Are you where you want to be? Are you where you need to be? You can have all the time in the world to ask these questions because chief amongst the qualities at the spa is peace & quiet. I was already staying at the hotel, so it was a simple matter to call down, arrange a massage (hot stone; I wanted a connection to the earth if I was already going all New Age-y), duration of service (50 min; I should have done 80), and gender of therapist (female). Everything in place by phone, I came down 20 minutes prior to my service, got a quick tutorial on the locker room, changed, steamed, went into the waiting room to sip on fruit water and be at one with my racing thoughts... and then I was greeted by my therapist. She was a very friendly woman with an interesting story. From the get-go, she asked me how chatty, deep and hot I wanted the massage. Not that much, very, make me feel it. Bueno. For the next 50 minutes, I was outside of myself. I was kneaded, plied, singed, and molded back into the person I most like. My anxieties, stress and pressure melted away, as I experienced the kind of expert massage that's eluded me for 8 years in Chicago. This. This was therapy. This was healing. This was what I came for. Have you felt regret? If you haven't, it feels like the end of a 50-minute hot stone massage when you could have ordered an 80-minute service. Treatment completed, my therapist handed me some water (don't want those toxins to kill me) and led me back to the waiting room area. From there, I went to the locker room to step into an over-sized rainforest shower and luxuriate in the water. My senses seemed heightened after my massage and the shower was of my the most exhilarating ones I've ever had. My endorphins must have been sky-high because I was in the best of moods and felt better than I had when I landed in New Mexico. Perhaps you can receive an invigorating massage anywhere. Perhaps you don't need to travel to Santa Fe to experience. But, if you have doubts as to the veracity of the previous sentences, what's a trip to the American Southwest gonna hurt... for research's sake? read more

My mom and I decided to try this for a spa day. We both got the custom 50 minute facial but we both had very different experiences. I thought my experience was subpar considering it was $140. He didn't apply all of the features that was advertised with the treatment + his massage was more abrasive than soothing. My mom had a great massage therapist who altered her technique to her needs and was a lot more responsive to adjustments. On top of this they charged us an automatic 20% gratitude though I wouldn't say my experience warranted a 20% tip. In addition, the hotel staff mentioned that we would get 15% off since we were staying there. But it turns out that's ONLY 15% off the products not services. Very very disappointed. Overall, I do not recommend this place. It's overpriced and nothing special. read more

I received a 50 min pre-natal massage (I'm 34.5 wks) here for $135 on 5/1. It was AMAZING. And hands down one of the best massages I've ever gotten. I highly recommend you visit this gem during your trip. The masseuse made sure to explain everything she'd be doing prior to the session including where she'd be applying more pressure or less pressure because I was pregnant. I definitely learned a thing or two about pressure points while with child! The massage itself was 5 stars. I loved how she connected with my breath before starting and even though I had to lie on my sides due to my quite big belly! that did not affect the quality of the massage. For $135 I do wish the spa itself was a little "fancier" or that better snacks or teas were provided in the waiting area. Great robes though. read more

Would give this Spa about 3.5 stars. The Couples Massage was good. We'd never tried it before and our two massage therapists were very fun and chatty. I'm sure you could have a massage with more seriousness, but it worked for us. Note: Their spa facility is not large and the soaking & sauna are on different floors, which is a bit odd, but they provide robes. There was a nice steam room in the changing room area and that was a good way to get relaxed for the massage. They do have a "relaxation room" which was just OK. While they had infused water, snacks & magazines, the chairs were a bit stiff (more like a Dr's office) and lounging wasn't a real option. All in all, it was a nice treat and by staying at the hotel it was also very convenient. read more

Gold Spun treatment was excellent. They brush your skin all over to exfoliate first and then massage you with gold-infused oil all while putting hot stones and chakra stones all over your body. Sounds crazy, I know, but was worth it. It was extremely relaxing and my skin was soft for awhile after. They also let you keep the exfoliator brush too which was cool. I guess I'll be making that a part of my cleansing routine now at home. You can then stick around after your treatment and use the steam room and showers to finish getting reading. I was in town for a girls weekend with my sister in law and our daughters. We decided to splurge for a spa treatment (splurge - as I don't normally spend this much for a treatment). I got the seasonal special - TURQUOISE GEMSTONE WRAP & MASSAGE. Casey was my therapist and created a very warm and relaxing environment. The wrap was relaxing and really made my skin soft, the massage was the perfect amount of pressure. He often checked in with me to see if he needed to adjust anything. He brought me blueberry flavored water after the treatment that was delicious! After my treatment, I spent time in the steam room which was really nice. The atmosphere is great. My SIL and her daughter tried the Time Out which included facials and a massage - they had mixed feelings about their treatments. All in all - if you want to splurge a bit, this was a nice place to do it. read more

My wife and I scheduled massages while in Santa Fe for a holiday getaway. Nidah Spa was recommended to us by friends who have had great experiences there. We were called the day before our appointments and advised that the men's steam room was broken. Disappointing, but I appreciated the advance notice. There is no dry sauna nor whirlpool hot tub. Men's locker and shower areas are pretty small. My wife enjoyed her 80 min massage very much. My deep tissue massage was just okay; I asked the therapist twice for firmer pressure but I don't think she had it in her. Very pleasant and professional though. The relaxation room was a thoroughfare for staff members moving from the reception area and therapy rooms. While showering post massage, the entire drain system began to back up in the shower and bathroom floors. I let the staff know right away. I found out later that the drains on the ladies side also backed up. While checking out and paying I let them know again about the drains. The lady said "Yes, we just heard about that." She deducted 10% off my massage fee (not my wife's.) So, $18.50 credit off a nearly $500 bill. I wasn't looking for a discount, really just wanted a great massage and experience. Everybody can have a bad day; I think this was one of those for Nidah Spa. read more

Not blown away with the quality. I decided to wait and pamper myself once on vacation. We stayed at the Eldorado hotel so I thought it can't hurt to try this spa rather than getting my nails done before heading on the trip. WAY over priced for the mani/pedi quality. The nail tech(s) were very nice and professional. My technician did not try to force conversation and had a very calm demeanor. The length of the service and the quality of the polish were what really disappointed me. My manicure was chipping by day two pretty badly. After returning home I had to remove the nail polish since it had chipped so badly. I waited two and half hours before putting shoes on to go eat dinner and my toes still smudged. I fixed the polish the next day but the polish is now chipping off my toe nails. It's been about a week since the service. I normally take my polish off every two weeks (to prevent discoloring) but I've left polish on my toes for up to a month without chipping. After spending over a $100 for the service, I'm really disappointed in the quality. I could have received a service twice as long with better lasting results at a spa in my hometown. The front desk staff seemed like they were in a hurry to leave, one even said out loud she was ready to get out of there and didn't want anymore delays. I didn't appreciate being asked out loud if I wanted to leave a 20% tip either. I'm all for tipping and normally leave 20% or more for good service but I'd prefer to indicate the amount on my receipt myself instead of feeling pressured to inform all those around me what I'll be leaving for a tip. read more

Oh my god, I've found heaven on earth. Never have I had my hair highlighted and cut where I actually felt relaxed after. I went into the salon feeling crappy and having a headache. Was welcomed into the spa and invited to relax in the relaxation room. Then met Yvette who asked me questions about what I wanted with my hair. After that she proceeded to work her trade. No small talk, just her finesse and magic making my hair just the right shade. She has so much patience. I was brought some jasmine tea and nuts and chocolate while my hair toned. In fact I write this as I wait. My point being, if you want one of the most relaxing experiences getting your hair done where they will just let you be inside yourself; where when you are done the world we be a better place, then go here. Beautiful decor.. but the deep tissue massage was started with a vibrator?! Supposed to be a Chinese method ( have experience true chinese methods in Beijing, Chengdu, Tibet, and Hainan Island), but after one leg I was offered a traditional deep tissue and I went for it. I get a massage weekly for years and when I am on the road, including China to Europe, I like to keep the routine up and see what I can see. Always a chance it will not be great and this was one of those times. She spent a lot of time on my stomach (deep tissue?) and forgot to do anything with my back. At one point I ended up on my side and still don't understand that move. Last appointment for the day at 4:30 so went for a steam and it was set on a timer to turn off and so no steam. I asked that the automatic 20% tip be zero and politely told the desk personnel about the issue and recompense was offered in the form of a 15% discount on both my wife and my treatment. She had a great experience and we accepted the 20% tip option on hers. Luck of the draw. read more
