From my first appointment with him, I felt heard. He listened to every concern and acknowledged my anxiety throughout my pregnancy, always calming my nerves. I had a couple of ER visits due to nausea, and he made sure to call and check on me and baby afterward each time. I had even scheduled my induction for the day he would be on-call because I wanted him to deliver my baby. However, baby decided to arrive on her own five days early, and he wasn't able to deliver her. Nonetheless, thanks to him, I had an amazingly smooth second pregnancy and delivery. I'm done having kids, and I'm sad I won't get to see him often. I wish he had been my OBGYN for my first pregnancy, but I will continue seeing Dr. Nguyen for my other gynecological needs.

I had been in antepartum at Hoag for a little over 2 weeks due to a short cervix. He and I discussed my situation and then went about our day as my stay had been uneventful one thus far. Little did we know how the day would transpire. Long story short, my water ended up breaking early that afternoon and Dr. Nguyen delivered my twins via C-section. Although I had only met Dr. Nguyen that morning, he brought such a good calming presence that I was at ease being in his care. He even made it a point to find and let my mom know after the surgery that the babies and I were just fine. We were lucky enough to see him again 11 days post delivery as he stopped by the NICU to check in on us and the boys. That alone is enough to show the type of doctor and let alone person that he is. I could not recommend him enough and am so thankful he was the OB working that day.

Extremely up-to-date on all things impacting women's health in a far more advanced manner than my…read moreother doctors are. Everyone should pay attention to research and keep their clinical practice honed and sharp like Dr. Beatty. Obviously see her if you want the best of care. I did want to address one of the posts below by 'Corinne'. I know pregnancy is an exciting and also scary time with so much activity, things to do, blood tests to run, so on and so on. But...I don't know how to say this without a bit of an eye roll...understanding and believing in some science is important - oh and curiosity, asking questions. This reviewer's statement: "made me believe that I would have a disease just because of my religion" grossly misrepresents both science and the physician. I strongly _SUSPECT_ this patient was appropriately screened for Tay-Sachs (as we all are and should be, umm, yeah, ty science!). Have you ever been asked if you have/were Ashkenazi Jew/ish ancestry? HIGHLY likely the doctor doesn't care about your religion but whether your child is at risk of death. Look it up. Tay-Sachs has nothing to do with religion. It is a genetic condition associated with ancestry, and discussing carrier risk or screening is standard OB-GYN care. Suggesting otherwise inaccurately implies religious bias and unfairly maligns appropriate medical practice. It's a fully inappropriate accusation. Also - another area to catch up on. Doctors who are part of a large healthcare system (i.e. PAMF or Sutter or KP or Stanford or...) do NOT HANDLE THEIR BILLING. They have nothing to do with that side of the fence. They are paid thru the organization, all the other cogs in the wheel manage the rest. Stop asking doctors to be accountants, medical coders and billing specialists since that's not what they do, and please let them focus on keeping us and our babies healthy. Like you went to see her because you were expecting her to practice medicine, right? Not do admin services, right? If the former, smart choice. Because she's awesome.

It is with unfortunate circumstances that I have decided to write this negative review. I thought I…read morecould find in me a soft corner maybe, but these kinds of things just stay with you forever and traumatize you... Dr. Pham Thomas had been my OB for a while and she was an okay gynecologist, never had any issues with her. I wish I had done some research on her being the "one delivering my baby and doing my c-section!". Anyhow, my pregnancy was progressing well: I had no complications no high blood pressure baby was growing perfectly normal inside and everything was just so beautifully going along but because of my previous pregnancy and experience this doctor insisted that I delivered at 37 weeks which I still don't understand why because baby was fine in there nothing wrong so why the need for that. I kept arguing with Dr Pham that my gestational age was different from my calculations on ovulation tracking and I know when I tested. So at 37 weeks I was in reality 36 weeks and a few days. These little things just annoyed me so much throughout but somehow I ignored them and just went with the flow which I deeply regret now. But I guess nothing can be done about that now. My birth and delivery story was even more of a nightmare and it gives me PTSD everytime I talk about it. I was called in for a scheduled C-section at 7am and Dr Pham very conveniently gets stuck with another lady whose baby decided to be born before mine and she has to make her push. But I cannot argue that right. She comes in the room I'm all prepped up in at 9.30 (2.5 hours late) and I am rolled into the operation room for my C-section. It takes few attempts to make the incision because of scar tissue and instead of a normal she made a T incision God knows what.. I don't even remember that.. All I can say is the rest was all carelessness and almost criminal negligence on her behalf. My uterus was cut open for 5 minutes and the baby was not pulled out yet. Every surgeon and obstetrician knows the baby has to come out immediately once the uterus is cut open. My poor baby swallowed so much fluid in this process of being drowned in there for 5 minutes and couldn't even cry for 3 minutes he was so stunned. They decided to vacuum his head because he wasn't coming out from the stupid doctor. Several attempts into it he finally came out but this left a big red bump and bruise on the back of his head for two months (cephalohematoma). I felt so helpless because obviously I couldn't move from the epidural. Even the doctors and nurses attending there that day witnessed this and it was definitely not "a rockstar" moment. My son had to be transported to the Children's Hospital in Oakland because the place he was born didn't have that level of NICU care. He was admitted there for 2 weeks due to respiratory distress syndrome and failure (all thanks to this nightmare delivery process and nothing existing with him pre birth). I am sharing this story even though it was a little more detailed than I planned because I wanted everyone to know what this Dr did to my son and I rate her a horrible surgeon. Although she might be an ok doctor or OB. She proved that day that she is not cut out for surgery. And she still had the Audacity to say that yes baby was born at 37 weeks although everyone at the Children's hospital stated his lungs were that of a 36 week-er! And I know my dates so no arguing there. VERY SCARY and UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCE in the end with DR PHAM. I don't want to belittle you but what you did was sheer criminal negligence and I still get goosebumps every time I think about my birth story.

I didn't even know it was possible to rate doctors on Yelp but this OB had such a profound impact…read moreon me since my last visit that I thought I'd write an honest review on my last experience 6 years ago when I was still a patient at PAMF. It was because of the last experience that I switched to Kaiser when I started working full time. She was my first OBGYN when I was when I was a teenager and I had nothing but neutral experiences with her up until my last appointment. As a young adult, you'd think that you could trust your OB with advice on birth control options but I beg of any young girl to please avoid this woman. Not only was she condescending, she actually laughed at me when I asked her questions about the pill as though I was stupid. It's a pretty traumatizing experience for a young woman to be laughed at by her own doctor when asking questions that should be safe to ask your health provider. I didn't see her, much less another OBGYN for another 4 years because of that and was glad I found my current one at Kaiser who doesn't make me feel bad about myself the way that Dr. Pham-Thomas did. I'm sure she's a fine doctor but she's got a condescending, rude, & elitist demeanor about her because of her profession and truly doesn't seem like a nice individual you could entrust so I'd avoid her if possible if you are a patient at PAMF.

Something that we struggled with for a while due to age was infertility. We had actually seen several fertility specialists during this long journey, and have gone through 3 rounds of IVF (2 mini's and 1 conventional) as well as an IUI. Although they were all unfortunately unsuccessful, we discovered that not all fertility clinics and doctors are created equal. While we found that many doctors take a very traditional, rigid and cookie cutter approach to treatment. Focusing more on luck through repeated attempts, Dr. Aimee was much more focused and tailored in her regiment. We always felt informed during this process, and confident in Dr. Aimee's recommendations. And unlike other clinics, we were always able to get ahold of Dr. Aimee directly. Instead of communicating with a nurse who would then pass the message along to the doctor if they felt it needed escalation. Along these lines, we were always shocked at how quickly we were usually able to get a response from Dr. Aimee. Sometimes even late at night. We often joked that Dr. Aimee probably doesn't sleep. Our only complaints about going with Dr. Aimee revolved around a few issues: 1) The initial application process to get a consultation with Dr. Aimee was lengthy, difficult, and required a lot of chasing from my wife due to poor follow-up and communication from the office. The individual handling review and processing of new patient applications would often go awol for days on end after sending out limited communication. 2) Billing was oftentimes not very clear and created a need for us to meticulously examine our bills line by line to ensure accuracy. 3) Dr. Aimee does not accept any insurance so 100% of the costs will be out of pocket. In addition, her rates are substantially higher than other clinics. Although we were ultimately unsuccessful with IVF, we were eventually blessed with a miracle baby through natural birth. Despite this, we would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Aimee to anyone looking for fertility care.
