I've been to this salon twice, the first was a practice run for my wedding and the second was on…read morethe morning of my wedding. The staff are very friendly and the salon lookwise is okay, it's not glitzy or gleaming but appears better then scruffy. The staff are all very well presented and very friendly. However at a lot of the better salons staff seem to have their own 'tools' yet here they were communal and a lot of them looked old, worn and very scruffy and in need of a damn good clean, I wasn't too happy about them going near my hair with them brushes to be honest, I swear the bristles were broken and I saw other peoples hair in them! My hair looked okay at the end of the trial run but and it's a big but it was not at all what I wanted. I wanted my hair stripping and dying a light brown and then curled into ringlet type curls however what i got was dark brown and big soft curls. Like I said it did look nice it just wasn't what I wanted and I'm glad that it was only my trial run! On my wedding day they knew to use tongs this time, however I was disappointed that they knew what I wanted they'd worked extensively on my hair about two weeks before so should have known how long it would take and yet they took forever, despite knowing it was my wedding day! There was no urgency and no priority. Eventually my hair was curled and my tiara pinned on and my head was sprayed into an inch of my life with copious amounts of hairspray (my mum who also had her hair done the same time also thought they were rather too enthusiastic with it on her hair too) and I will admit despite being the wrong colour the style was exactly what i wanted and it looked beautiful, so they got there in the end I just didn't appreciate the long road it took to get to that point! So all in all it's a good salon, but I've been to much better. the staff are friendly but I feel if they'd paid attention to what I was saying it would have been right on the trial run and likewise I wouldn't have been so stressed at running late on my wedding day if they'd been more on the ball and focused. It could do with some new equipment too.

I had my hair done at Hair Razors(another branch) for my wedding and you are 100% spoot on…read more My trial run hair was nothing like my hair on the big day. When I read how long it took I laughed out loud-so it wasn't just me then!!! Despite arriving almost 3/4 hours early I almost missed getting my make up done as it took over 3 hours to do!!! If anyone reading this is having wedding hair done then allow plenty of time(and add another bit just for good measure)

Now then, I understand how the idea of going to an Academy could freak some people out, however…read moreit's totally unnecessary! I first went to the Toni and Guy academy just before Christmas and I was slightly anxious I must admit, but I needed a haircut, badly. Coming from a town where there's only about 5 hairdressers to choose from and you know most of the people who work there, looking for a hairdresser in Manchester was a fairly daunting ordeal. I decided to opt for the academy for some reason, I can't remember why now but was happy with the results as today I went back! When you call up for an appointment they offer the choice between two time slots 9:30 and 1:30 - the time you are there for depends entirely on what you are having done, today I was out in 2 hours. You pay when you arrive and are asked to sign in, it cost me £12 for a cut and blow dry and I believe colour costs around £30. You wait to be called through, after your coats are taken you are allocated a seat and then a hairdresser. You talk through what you want and then their supervisor/teacher(I'm unsure what the correct term would be!) will come on over and ask them about how they plan on going about it, after they've talked it through, hair gets washed and cut! Every step of the way they are watched and corrected if needed however I've had very good experiences there twice and the other people there seemed pleased with the results! If you're after a good cheap haircut and have some time to spare, here would be perfect for you!

The first time I step into this baby tony and guy I was asked to sign a waiver then hand over ten…read morepounds. I soon as I did this I began imaging how I was going to cover my bald head or perhaps that I should try and call my GP to try and get a free wig off the NHS. Either way my trembling fragile mop sat staring at me in the mirror all delicate and resting on my head, so unsuspecting of what was to come. Turns out they don't let just about anybody off the street do it, the students are all well practised and some just at the turning point where the cut would of cost you £50. My hair was very pleased and I've been somewhat of a regular since. Once there was too many students and I ended up getting my haircut by a teacher, so essentially got a hundred pound haircut. My hair was over the moon that time. Yours might be too?
