Came here after Windmill closed for the day. The man who was working in the distillery was really…read morefriendly, I think he was probably the distiller. He walked us through how their distillery works and how the grains are locally sourced. They have quite a few options and some very unique options like Garlic Vodka and Ginger Vodka. The different gins were great to taste side by side as well as tasting the whiskey side by side. Their canned vodka coolers are delicious, we coudn't leave without buying some. We walked away really enjoying the experience and the craft alcohols. Had to get a few bottles to take home, and the mini bottles are a great option with the 4 pack for $40. I had to get the garlic vodka, it is just so unique and he suggested using it in a Caesar or Bloody Mary, so we will try that.

Well, this was a surprise! We went to the Windmill Brewery next door, not realizing there was a…read moreseparate entity - a distillery sharing the same site. We initially went into the brewery for a few cans, and ended up taking a peek next door at this distillery as well, where we found out that they use local farm-grown ingredients to distill vodka and rum, and we got a tour of the facility although they are not distilling anything at the moment. Fascinating! The equipment is large; I can't imagine trying to do this on the QT during prohibition!! We we offered samples of their organic rum, a vodka cooler, as well as garlic flavoured vodka!! This was amazing!! We took some home, and I will for sure cook with it! This place (and the brewery next door) was certainly worth the visit. We will be back... once we get low on what we purchased!

I feel 'guilty' (well, not really.......) ripping Toronto/Ontario... but the reality is; taxes are…read moreextremely high and items/goods are tremendously overpriced. A bottle of vodka at Duty Free USA is $21.50.. Same bottle in Ontario is $69.50............................... (lots of dots to ponder), reality/truth is ONTARIO is a terrible place to shop/buy. After spending a few weeks in 5 different states; if you have the means/opportunity, go to AMERICA!!! Regardless if the dollar is .80 cents to the dollar or even .65 cents to the dollar. Shoes, clothes, food, drink are just more affordable. You can go to a bar and have a drink for $2.. $2.50; try to get a drink in Toronto for under $9 (rarity). In other words; duty free makes a lot of sense. As does shopping/supporting America and it's retailers; there's no glory in being taxed 13% and paying double for 'stuff' in Ontario.

Even though the address here is correct, the image on the Yelp map does not display the store in…read morethe correct location, and possibly for a check-in. It is actually on Wellsley Island, on the America's side just before you cross northward into Canada. If you are going south from Canada into the US, you want Thousand Islands Duty Free. As you would expect, there are deals here on a variety of items, most notably alcohol, cigarettes, and cologne, but other items, souvenirs, etc. Prices and procedures are standard. Shop carefully - some things are very good deals, some are not. The facility is clean, the rest rooms are well maintained - and a good place to stop first if there's a long line waiting to enter Canada. There a few benches outside and an area which offers you a great view of part of the St. Lawrence River and some of the nearby islands.
