Good homey atmosphere, old man cuts hair very good. He is polite and professional. Rates are VERY reasonable.

I don't know where to start but just to summarize it here. I am very picky when it comes to my hair…read moreand beard. I am a local guy here who desperately needed a barber(As my barber is on vacation) that is professional and knows how to cut. I bumped in Marco! Marco seems a nice guy but he was not the righh person to cut my beard nor my hair. I showed him a photo of myself and told him that I want the same as you see. My beard was not trim evenly nor my hair took a place too high up and fading was not done properly too. At the end, I asked Marco that my beard needs to be trimmed a little bit more and he did not do evenly that's where I am upset. I am very disappointed with 10+ experience and Marco was not paying attention to my request(unless did not want to do it), I even asked him extra things to do at the end and he said yes but never did it even he cut wrong on purpose. I am not sure what's wrong with requestig how I want to be cut. I even witnessed that there was a client walked in to cut his hair and they said they dont accept walk in which is fine... The client was a bit weird talk when they told him that they cannot accept him and he said "oh I give you $80 please take me" as there has been off conversation between the barber and the client. There was another client sitting and getting his hair cut, when the other client left(which is the one they did not accept him,) they all started to talk $hi% about him. He is taking something, he is a trash the way he talked etc. I felt so uncomfortable in this situation which where I felt Marco was messing about my hair and beard. I wonder what they gossiped about me even when I told the guy over the phone that I am very pick and really want a well cut... No to mentioned I was charged $60 for this cut when I get my both hair and beard cut for $50 in Toronto

Completely uneven, way too short and makes my head look a weird shape lol. Not even remotely close to what I asked for (a trim). I think it'll take a few months and couple more haircuts to get it back to normal. Was probably just an off-day for the guy cause they have great reviews.

If that's not a feel good story that makes your hair follicles tingle, I don't know what is. If you, like me, used to get your hair cut at The Nite Owl in Longbranch just a few blocks west, you'll also recognize that along with Dave, familiar faces like Mike and Jara have come along for the Black Collar ride. It's a really great space, lovingly built and decorated with bits of Dave's Irish and Newfoundlander background mixed with some slick new black leather barber chairs and vintage finds. I've been now for three cuts and the banter and shenanigans remind me of early days at Nite Owl when it was only three barbers (Dave being one of them). It's a great place for the fellas to hang out, get a hair cut and relax. I'm super proud to be a customer here and will continue to support Dave as a cornerstone of the community!

I've had the privilege of having him cut my hair, for years, elsewhere, and now he has finally opened his own place - I absolute love it. Dave is an amazing barber, an incredible human being, and a pillar of strength - rarely have I been so excited to write a first review. The other 2 original team members, Mike and Jara, are also old school professionals, putting in all they've got - after all, they are Dave's wingmen. As a side note, both of them cut my hair on occasion, when Dave wasn't available, at their previous place, and both provide impeccable haircuts and shaves, with service done the old way - starting and ending with a handshake. The place is one for family get togethers - I'm a client, my brother is a client, my son is a client, and my father will shortly become one - 3 generations, in one place - speaks volumes of the soul of the place. Go Dave!

I've been struggling to find a new place close to home, but after doing lots of research online, I decided to give Head Candy a try. I booked with Anna, and I was not disappointed. This amazing lady taught me more about caring for my hair than I ever realized there was to know, including a bunch of crap I needed to STOP doing. My cut was perfect, and perhaps just as importantly, Anna made me feel comfortable and created a relaxed, fun vibe. She's the kind of gal you instantly want to be besties with. A real pro. The salon itself is modern, clean and pretty, and located right at Queensway and Royal York.

I had my first visit to Head Candy last week…read more I originally came in for a brief 15 minute colouring consult, as I had emailed back and forth with the receptionist on pricing and what the general practices of the salon were. I met with Fernando who gave me honest feedback about what he felt my hair needed, including cutting a significant portion of it off to make it healthy again. Originally, the first availability they had for Fernando was going into November (for an evening appointment), and early October for a weekend. Fernando came over and squeezed me in a couple days later, which I really appreciated. When I arrived, we discussed the colour & plan again. He's very knowledgeable about colour and hair health. For a colour, cut (wet and dry mix) and blow dry, I was out the door in less than two hours. In total, I paid $180 (with tax).
