My son has been receiving speech therapy here since he turned 2 years old. He will be 8 in a few weeks. He has had a few therapists over the years, most consistently with Ms Gloria. He has made so much significant progress with her. Unfortunately there is therapist turnover but it has not impacted us much. My son loves coming here and I would recommend them to anyone. Noemi has excellent customer service and she always works with the families to reschedule when necessary. We've seen her go above and beyond for other families, not just for my son. read more

I usually don't leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience so other parents can make informed decisions. My daughter attended speech therapy at Nichols Speech for about a year, and unfortunately, we saw very little progress during that time. While I can't speak for every speech pathologist there, I do want to be transparent about our experience with Kelsey. She was friendly, but unfortunately not very engaged or proactive. Sessions were supposed to include 20 minutes of work with my daughter and 10 minutes discussing her progress, goals, and tools to support speech at home. Most of the time, that 10-minute discussion was reduced to a brief comment like "She's doing good," "She scored X percent," or "She struggled to focus." There was little to no explanation of what sounds they were working on or how we could support her between sessions. Whenever I brought up tools or strategies that might help, Kelsey didn't seem to have much input or interest. It was disappointing, especially since I was actively looking for ways to support my child's development. During this time we started to see a new speech pathologist at a different practice, my daughter made more progress in two months than she did in an entire year at Nichols. That really highlighted the difference in quality and communication. Additionally, the overall environment at the office didn't feel child-centered. It often seemed like the staff was more focused on chatting and maintaining appearances than being genuinely invested in the kids' progress. I hope the clinic can take this feedback seriously and reflect on how they're supporting families--because our kids deserve better. read more

It's like within a week, this place went downhill fast. One day we received a call from the receptionist that my son's speech therapist, Rylee, had two more weeks there before she was transitioning to another job. Rylee, the caring therapist, had already told us earlier to give us prep time to find alternatives, so luckily this did not hit us out of the blue. The front staff (not the typical lady we dealt with) was not very accommodating, and at that point there was a lot of unknown of who and when we would ever get another session. Nichols staff essentially told parents who had regular sessions sessions scheduled that they would have to call every Monday to check to see if there was any availability. Availability was limited and there was no guarantee of who you would see. I'm sorry, what?? I kindly told the lady that this is absolutely terrible business practice - you have young kids that need help, and you are essentially stopping consistent service because you are now losing staff. There's a reason that staff is leaving. I would not recommend this place at all; there was never an apology, a follow-up or any kind of concern about if our son even wanted to continue therapy. At the end of the day it shows what Nichols truly cared about, and it wasn't it's patients nor the staff. I hope the owner learns a valuable lesson from all of this. Since then, we have found alternatives in the area that work for us. Rylee truly made our experience there, without her and all of the good ones that departed, this place is nothing. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this place. First off, our speech therapist is absolutely amazing. She is the reason why we stick with them. The administrator is absolutely a sweet lady. The old receptionist was also amazing because she was always taking care of us. I used to call her to see if she has any cancellations or openings for my son to fill in and get speech out of the way. She was always looking out for us. Sadly, she found another job and left this office. Over the summer, I wanted to secure my spots for after school appointments. Since, it was the summer we had the summer free to do speech early and get it out of the way. Then one day the remaining reception told us if I keep calling and asking for a earlier session she would have to take my permanent spots away. I don't understand this, if they have people canceling and the spots are open why can't we take the spot. Today, my son fell ill and I called to cancel but they say since it's a same day cancellation that there would be a fee unless I reschedule but the rescheduled times don't work for me. If I do that I would have to have my son missed school to attend the rescheduled session. I told her I'm just going to bring my son in today then. And the receptionist said sounds good. So, they would rather have me bring a sick kid in for session than give me a break for simply canceling without charge. They even told me we are one of their top clients because we never canceled and always make it to our sessions. read more

My son had been coming to Nichols Speech for a little over a year. From the beginning he was assigned to do speech twice a week and they had me randomly pick from a list of therapists available. We started seeing therapist Cristina twice a week. It took my son some time to be comfortable with her and a few weeks later they changed her from his schedule without notifying me. I was really upset about this l, he was now seeing two different new therapist. When I brought it to the Managers attention she seemed confused. I was content with one of the new therapist. Ms. Jennifer, because my son was comfortable right away with her, so I requested that my son stay with her for one of his sessions and to go back to Cristina his first assigned therapist for his second session of the week. Shortly after, Cristina notified me she would be leaving. I was ok with that because my son still had Ms. Jennifer, but that meant he would have a new therapist to fill Ms. Cristina's day with him. After having him jump around from one therapist to another he was finally assigned to Mrs. Elena and then when I go back the following week to meet with her again. We are waiting to be called and the time went by nothing. I go to the manager and she has him assigned to a new therapist. I was enraged and frustrated at this point. I told her this is the second time you change him without notifying me! She said , let me see if Mrs. Elena will take him. Lucky for my son and for me, Mrs. Elena accepted my son into her session. So he saw her one time out of the week and Ms. Jennifer the other day of the week. My son really thrived with Mrs. Elena. She is consistent, caring and an expert. We felt fortunate to have her, especially since Ms. Jennifer informed us she would be leaving Nichols speech and that placed Santino again with a new therapist for his second session. We were ok because we knew he has Mrs.Elena, but then his new therapist would not show and it happened quite often I would get last minute calls informing me that we had to reschedule!!! We couldn't always find dates that worked for us. So he was missing out on his second session of the week. So today I show up for his session with Mrs. Elena and they inform me that he is no longer on a schedule that we have to call and find out what days a therapist is available because WE went over the 3 day absent limit policy and not rescheduling! I was flabbergasted, are you serious! The manager tells me you can call and see who is available! Are you serious?!!!After seeing Mrs. Elena for over a year. I could not believe it. I informed her I would not be taking my son back to this facility; she obviously could care less. It's unfortunate my son will miss out on his sessions with Mrs.Elena. Oddly when Ms. Jennifer left, 3 more therapist left all at the same time. ODD you think? read more

Took my daughter here for a couple of months the scheduling they have and office manager Ashley are very unprofessional. I was called 3 different times that they had to move my daughter's appt with a new therapist and at a different time ( sometimes on the same day) and I made accommodations to make it happen. But when my daughter was absent due to sickness and or we were out of town (gave them weeks notice) they wanted to take her off the weekly schedule of I didn't make it up. I was also charged a $15 no show fee for a date I never schedules. I think it's a horrible way to treat these kids and parents. Ashley was calling to make up a session however, due to my schedule and other kids (with special needs)I can only do one day a week. She was rude and refused to work with me even though I have worked with them! I should also point out the therapy time is very short. They say it's to go over progress with you at the end but it was always me asking "how things went". I have never had a problem with any service center and I've been to plenty. read more

I scheduled an appointment for the end of June back in March. I got a call today saying that after that appointment the next visit wouldn't be for 6 to 12 months later!!! What a waste of time! Do not book with this office. read more

I put off writing this review for a long time, but my experience today set off some red flags, which is unfortunate because some amazing speech pathologists work here. My daughter started speech therapy around two and a half years old and began with Riley. Riley was an amazing speech pathologist, and my daughter made mass improvements quickly with the techniques she provided. It was very unfortunate when she left and took another job opportunity. My daughter was then placed with Jamie Nichols, the owner. You would think you would be in good hands, but I had the opposite experience with her. The first big red flag is Halloween; my daughter was scheduled to come in. I came on time, but Jamie was nowhere to be found. Amanda took it upon herself to take my daughter in because there seemed to be no communication about who would do a session with my daughter. After finishing the session, Jamie finally showed up and asked how my daughter did; unbelievable. The moment that made me refuse to work directly with her was this one session my daughter was frustrated. She pulls me in and says my parenting is why my daughter doesn't speak and is perfectly capable, but I give in to her crying and give her what she wants. If I continued with this type of parenting, word for word, my daughter was going to become a little monster. That is a very wild conclusion considering she only saw my daughter once a week for thirty minutes and maybe five or six sessions, and, quite frankly, it was very unprofessional. In this conversation where she wouldn't let me get a word in, she admitted that it was out of the norm for my daughter to tantrum or act very upset, and it was the first time she acted that way with her. If she had let me speak, she might have understood that my daughter was off, considering I had given birth the week before and was adjusting to having a new sibling. I feel this was very intellectually dishonest and quite lazy. Anyone who knows the basics of child development would know that expecting perfect emotional regulation from a two-year-old is very unreasonable, especially with a speech delay. Because of this, I asked for my daughter to be removed as a client, but they assured me that they could place her with a different pathologist. She is now placed with Sarah, who I have no complaints about, and she is wonderful. I had to change my daughter's schedule for this week because I recently started working and had training on a normal day that she goes in. The office placed her with Christina. The first red flag is that she pulls me into the office and doesn't close the door while she speaks about my daughter's progress. I'm sure that is a HIPPA concern, if not just a flat violation. She asks a leading question: Does my daughter ever get frustrated when making a request of her? I answer yes because, again normal developmental behavior of a two-year-old. She says there are no previous notes about my daughter's behavior, but she is concerned that she will not learn if she keeps getting frustrated. This was my daughter's first time working with her, yet she felt it was professionally appropriate to speak about my daughter's typical two-year-old behavior. I understand that it is frustrating to teach a child that isn't compliant 100% of the time and still has issues regulating emotions, but you are not in the right profession if you do not have the patience to do so. I take my daughter's development and progress very seriously, and I'm not unteachable, but these particular speech pathologists are very unserious and need a better understanding and expectations of toddlers. read more

Jamie is the worst owner ever. She belittles parents and her therapists and I would never trust my child with her. She straps children in a chair so they can't get out of their seat and has no patience for any child who gives any push back. Runnnnn from this place. read more

My daughter loves coming here ! She previously went to 3 speech therapist and she never liked them. Ms Sarah is the nicest person we have ever seen! We started with Nichols Speech after the new year. My daughter has made amazing progress in a short time. We work with Anelle and she's very kind and patient. We love seeing how much my daughter has grown in her speech abilities. There is typically a waiting list, but they do go through it and you will get in eventually. Absolutely love this place! My daughter loves working with Ms Maggie. She is a perfect match for my daughter to help her with her language development and she's now saying more words than ever and is also having more patience at home due to her time spent with Ms Maggie. My daughter has been in speech therapy before at a different facility and after numerous visits, I was never able to leave the room or have my daughter go freely with her therapist at that time. That's 100% not the case with Ms Maggie! After their second visit together my daughter was very comfortable with me leaving the room and now my daughter will run to her Ms Maggie's room to play/learn or will take her hand willingly which seems to be the same sentiment I see with the other therapist and their patients/families. Nichols Speech has a friendly welcoming area that's decorated in a Dr Seuss theme, the nicest staff (Carolyn is always such a joy to talk to over the phone) that is also very knowledgeable and helpful. read more

What a difference this place made in my child's life!!! My daughter had issues with her "r" sounds and the school district had already exited her out of speech but she kept coming home and saying the other kids said she had a "British accent." My daughter was raised and born here in Southern California so this made no sense to me. Thats when I met Jamie who immediately new the problem and in a matter of months had fixed the issue!!!
