My dermatologist in the same practice is out on maternity, so they rescheduled me with Dr. Newland…read more She's great! Quick, efficient, direct and helpful. For starters, I recommended this change to their Yelp page, so it should reflect accurately: They are no longer in the confusing medical plazas of St. Luke's, but instead they're at 4400 Broadway Blvd, Suite 400 on the 4th floor, naturally. Don't make the same mistake I did of running late, parking in the wrong garage and high tailing it over to the right spot at the last second! This new space is crisp & clean. Sterile, if I'm honest, but that's a good thing in both the medical world and Covid times. They have all the proper precautions in place like temp. checking, distancing, masking, sanitizer available, etc. Dr. Newland herself was right on time and diagnosed my minor issue in like, two seconds. She also listened when I said I'd rather not take an oral antibiotic (my own personal reasons, focusing on building my microbiome and immunity) and prescribed something else that should work. If I get scheduled with her again I'll be glad to take the appointment, and if she's taking new patients which she appears to be, I'd recommend reaching out.

Great first experience in here for a routine check. The only "ehh" moment simply came from the…read moreparking garage being jam-packed which is normal stuff. The office here was efficient and the appointment was thorough. I went to another dermatologist last year at another hospital who was almost mocking that I was in to get checked out. She's like, "you don't use a tanning booth and don't have anything worrisome? Why are you here?" Um. You know, to not get skin cancer and to do preventative care! It was the opposite here where my appointment ran smoothly while also taking any other questions I had. So if she's accepting new patients (no guarantee), I'd highly recommend Dr. Horner. She knows what she's doing and is overall top-notch.

As usual with Doctors you never see the Doc at your appointed time. I had an appt at 10:10AM and I…read moredidn't see her until 11:10AM. The front desk told other patients the doctor was running an hour behind but not me... I am giving her 4 stars because she is personable, factual and gets it done quick! Every question I had she answered directly and did not hummmhawww like some Derms I have been too. She will point you in the right direction and give you her opinion on what you should do. She will also tell you if she feels comfortable or not removing a mole or doing a certain procedure. The parking garage is a pain in the butt, no one can park between the lines. If you drive a larger vehicle you should just head right up to floor 6/7. This is considered plaza 1 but its in building 3. The nurses were all very friendly and communicative. I have another appointment in May. She is part of St, Lukes Medical Services.

I was a new patient here during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of my appointment, masks were…read moremandated and required in all of Kansas, where this office is located. When I arrived, no one was wearing masks. I was told that they are exempt from wearing them, and was then lectured about the death rate of COVID, that masks are completely ineffective, and that I can go ahead and take my mask off. When I explained that I have differing beliefs and good reason to wear one, I was again belittled. You could tell they really didn't want me to wear it, which is not their choice to make. Already blindsided about the masks, I then asked if the doctor could keep 6 feet from me in the room. A reasonable compromise, right? She told me we could discuss it once we got to the room. I wasn't sure why we couldn't discuss it in the lobby right then, but I later realized it was because she had no plans to keep her distance from me. In the room, she sat very close to me despite me having already requested her not to. I understand if someone is exempt from mask wearing. I get it. My issue here is that they did not make this clear to me as a new patient. Furthermore, the doctor lectured me about masks and suggested I take mine off. And finally, they did not attempt to keep distance. I felt very uncomfortable. This office should make it clear they are exempt, so their patients can then make a choice that is best for their personal health. They should also allow patients to wear masks if they choose, without making them feel wrong for wearing them. I am very disappointed with the professionalism of Midwest Dermatology. If you want to feel that your voice is valued and heard as a patient, do not choose this office.

My favorite thing is that I've never had issues getting appointments in a timely manner. I've always gotten appointments the same week I call. My only issue is that biopsy results take a while (2 weeks) which is more about the lab than it is Sunflower. There's an online portal but I wasn't able to log into it, nor would my results have been ready before my follow-up appointment. Fun fact: Sunflower's doctors have a non-profit called Fair and Fashionable that connects with younger adults about the dangers of skin tanning. It's really cool and modern with great messaging about skin care. In other words, it's an overall great experience and the staff really, REALLY cares about you. That's what makes Sunflower woerth coming back to.

I'm embarrassed to show my arms & legs. Be warned.

It transferred me to a receptionist who said she didn't know but sent me to a billing person. When I talked to that person I explained I have Aetna but through a company called Luminear Health. I was told I should be just fine. My appointment was first thing in the morning and I was willing to take a point for missing work to get into the dermatologist. When I got there I was told they did not take my insurance. The receptionist said I'm not sure we have ever taken that insurance. I asked the cost she couldn't even tell me that. If I had not check with them Prior to missing work for this and made sure my insurance was ok I would not have the right to be mad BUT I did. I checked. If they had said we can see you at a discounted rate today but each visit offer this would be cash rate I would have done it and at least got an answer on if wha is going on is treatable but now I have to start over. I am so mad I missed work ......... Got a point for missing work ....... and still have nothing to show for it. I have called 3 times to get an office manager and get a voicemail box instead of a real person.
