They have to be hauled. They have to be driven down to the water's edge. And they have... to be... f***ing... launched... you heathens. (Deep breath) I don't often boat, but when I do I use this kayak launch. I don't actually have a boat but I am occasionally invited to go boating, and this is one of the better launches that I've had to load and unwilling boats at. Partly because it's usually not so busy like some of the others are. There's one in Rochester where I've experienced hour long wait times so I'm grateful that this one is a lot more user-friendly, and also in a really pretty area hidden around the back of Niagara Falls Boulevard.

The kayak itself is completely clear, giving you a cool view beneath you, and it lights up brightly as night falls. Plus, having a Bluetooth connection right in the kayak so you can stream your own music while paddling out on the water was such a great touch. Before heading out, the team provided a quick safety lesson, fitted us with life jackets, and gave us dry storage to keep our personal items protected. The designated paddling zone keeps you well clear of motorized watercraft and Seadoos, which made the whole experience feel super safe and relaxing. Doing the sunset slot is definitely the way to go... ugh the views of the water and skyline as the sun goes down were stunning. Even if you aren't looking for a heavy workout, you don't have to paddle continuously, it's just as rewarding to float, play your music, and enjoy the scenery. The staff at the Lake Shore location made everything seamless. Check-in was fast, every staff member was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and they genuinely cared to ask how our ride went after we docked. Whether you're looking for an active outing or just a peaceful evening on the water, I can't recommend Illuminated Escapes enough. I'm already planning on coming back next summer!
