    Pretty thin towels
    Sabeen A.

Most of the reviews below pretty much cover it but a couple of important points to note: Pros: - Great location: on the water, near the East Side Gallery, hipster-y part of the city - Friendly staff - Funky 90's 'Saved by the Bell' vibes - Lots of events happening here - Good vibe Cons: - Funky 90's 'Saved by the Bell' vibes don't make it feel like a very modern hotel - Towels are paper thin and ragged - Toilet paper could be confused for writing paper, its so harsh - Rooms are dark even with all the lights on - Food options are limited, and ... not. great. - Service is unbelievably slow. Asked for little things like an iron, took 3 different calls and still never got it. Two days in a row so at different times of day. Called for help with bags, and had to call twice - Concierge is NEVER at front desk - Water (shower / toilet / sink) didn't work (broken pipe) for TWO days. Hotel didn't call to check/warn/or apologize. I had to shower at my office. As its supposed to be a 4-star hotel, the cons really outweighed the pros to a level of surprise. The lack of water for 2 days and lack of effort on behalf of the hotel to apologize / explain or make up for it, really was the end. I was meant to stay for 15 days for work, and shortened the trip to 4 days and was honestly relieved to head to a hotel down the road with basic amenities. Have recommended visiting colleagues to AVOID the NHow, which is a shame since it's right next to our office, and we travel to Berlin quite often. But nhow is really a question, as to 'nhow bad did you think it would be?'

Funky interior design that is fun and unique. Stayed in a single room. Sparse, but nicely pink and lavender colors that is not obnoxious. Try to stay on the river side for a view.

Crazy decor... This is the funkiest hotel I've ever seen: there are neon lights everywhere, the lobby bar has a stage and there's live rock music on weekends, and rooms are all PINK! When I say "all PINK", I literally mean EVERYTHING IS PINK. The bed sheets, the pillows, the bathroom tiles, the bathroom sink, the bathroom freebies and amenities, the towels, the slippers... even the telephone is pink!! This will be shocking for most people, can be a little disturbing for some others. Overall, the hotel is very good. Clean rooms, free wifi, cool bar, nice terrace with views of the river, friendly staff, good restaurant. As a rule of thumb, if you're cool with the funky decor, then this is a hotel you'll enjoy; if you're conservative and/or prefer classic hotels, do not go to this hotel.

This is definitely one of those times where I wish Yelp had .5 stars because nhow Berlin deserves more than 3 but is a few perks away from being 4 stars. I am DEFINITELY glad that I stayed here, but I am not sure if I would return. Although, honestly the main reason is the location. It is beautiful to be on the water and near the East Side Gallery, but I wish I had stayed more centrally. I was deciding between here and Circus Hotel and opted to stay here since I thought I'd be hanging out more East anyway and I liked the idea of staying at a chain hotel because you know the perks will be better. nhow Berlin is one cool hotel. The design is awesome and every element of it was a delight to experiences - from the rooms, to the bar, to the outdoor patio. Many of the unique design details are pros, e.g. the sockets in the wall with outlets to be used as bedside tables, although some are not. Our bathroom would not have been okay for anyone other than a couple who is very comfortable being seen by and not having privacy in the bathroom, e.g. the shower is see-through and doorless. I don't know if it's different for a room with two beds though... The service is exceptional. The room service is fast and reasonably priced. The morning buffet is overpriced for sure (22 euros) but it is delicious and without many local eateries, we definitely went a few times. And it was easy to take some of it to go or to eat enough to not have to eat for a while. My other two complaints are that the beds could be softer (I am partial to soft mattresses though. If you're not, you will be fine.). I also wish there was free wifi in the rooms and free local calling. There IS free wifi in the lobby/lounge/dining areas, though. If you're already interested in staying here, definitely do it. If you're on the fence, just consider these things. The pink also didn't bother us. I know some people commented about that but honestly if you didn't realize it was going to be pink after visiting the website, I'm not sure how...

Bathroom is very small, in fact the rooms are generally small, but consistent with European hotels in that regard. Main problem in the room is not having any space to set things down. Like a table. It's tight in here. But not bad. It's not a major complaint. Also, modern chairs are not comfortable at all. So come on hotel people, stop trying to be cool and buying fancy chairs that hurt your butt. The major complaint, if I have to have one, is that the bar and restaurant close so early! And there aren't that many options at the bar. If I want to chill and relax with my coworkers, there is a much cooler bar experience at Nhow Berlin. Also, while it does feel European, it doesn't give any feeling of being in Germany - other than the TV options, I could be at any Holiday Inn around the world. Oh yes, please guys, some English channels would be most appreciated! Overall, this is a fine place, and I'd stay here again. Not bad for the price!

Even though the rooms are really small, kinda like a Holiday Inn Express, they're big enough to fulfill the purpose of sleeping there. I had a double room with one bed, because they luckily have a smoking floor. The bed was really comfy and i love they have the soft/hard pillows. Enough for 2, lucky me, the girl i was with just needed about 1/4 of it. LOL As i said, new hotel, so new bathroom, really nice, as usual many white soft towels, they carry here Dove hand soap & shampoo dispensers in the shower, nice touch. The bath has a color patterned frosted glass wall towards the room, that was a new thing for me. I really liked the new locks with RFID or NFC they have, and not the usual "swipe-the-card" kind which BTW always give tons of problems. It's great cause i didn't even had to take the card out of my wallet for the elevator or to unlock my room, really cool! I was on the first floor, so not much of a view though, but still i got to see the Berlin Wall and the Spree as they're located just a couple of 100 meters away. On the check in the girl in the front desk wasn't that good, they either don't have a Priority Check in counter or she just didn't care, even though i had my Reservation on my Passbook, she asked again for my name, and all kinds of stuff, well you know Germany and its service. The Restaurant is nice, with a big glass facade from top to bottom and the Hotel has even its own Starbucks inside where you can get drinks charged to your room, really convenient. All in all i'll definitely consider this Hotel the next time i go to Berlin. The Location for me, at least this trip, was beyond amazing, as other friends where staying at the Michel Berger, and the Warschauer Str. Station is within 5 minutes walk. So connections where really good. The Internet was superb, and as usual Free (don't know if for all, but at least for Priority Members it is) and i got pretty good speeds, 25 Mbps symmetrical, for business customers amazing if they need to reach a Server or VPN. I hope other locations get some of the new things they have here upgraded soon, like the locks, elevators and internet. It's pretty nice to have a flat screen hanging on the wall and not on some kind of chest of drawers. Check out was really easy as i did it thru the iOS App and when i got to the front desk this nice guy greeted me, saw on the screen i already checked out and handed me an envelope with my bill. Great, i was out of there in 1 minute, and he actually fulfilled the Priority Club protocol, not like at the check in. Kudos. Oh and of course as a Priority Club member you get 2 extra hours to check out.

But it was clean, wii fi was good, bed was comfortable and it was located across the street from the Berlin wall and right next to a cute place where I purchased a double decker city bus tour, sipped on local beer and munched on a curry bratwurst. All in all, I probably wouldn't stay here again because the price is comparable to high end hotels. But when a girl's feet hurt....price doesn't seem to matter.

Call me crazy, call me stuck up, but it's the truth. But I'm not so snobby as to let a charming boutique hotel like East Side go unnoticed. My Beloved and I stayed here for three nights (my first trip to the capital), and I found the staff here warm and welcoming, while representing a hotel that is clean but delightfully unconventional (I mean, part of their branding includes Leonid Brezhnev smooching Erich Honnecker for God's sake). When we arrived, our room wasn't ready, but the gentleman behind the counter made amends by offering us a free beer while we waited (which, for a weary traveller coming from the UK, was a welcomed gesture for only a 15-minute wait). East Side is like a haven for hipsters, with charmingly playful colour schemes and eccentric photography dotting the walls. Our room was fairly large, and amazingly, the bathroom was nearly the same square footage. The staff thankfully granted our request to have a room facing the iconic Berlin Wall, which made for fantastic people watching, even in the deluge of autumn rainstorms. East Side is within convenient walking distance from some of the city's best bars and restaurants, which meant we didn't bother taking the U-Bahn until the second day of our trip.
