Maybe the experience has been better for others, but my experience was pretty bad. In a nutshell: scam artists and nail butchering.
Three weeks prior to trying to visit this nail salon, I was visiting family in the US where a different nail salon upsold me to get gel polish on my hands AND feet. I did not realize at the time, that the polish had to be removed in a different way than normal nail polish.
After watching too many youtube videos and reading about how one can damage the nail by wrongfully removing gel polish, I decided that I would just go get it done professionally and get a new manicure and pedicure for my upcoming vacation while im at it. You know, treat yo self?
What a mistake I made.
First, it didn't seem like the couple running NH Nagelstudio wanted my business as I had to go in three times until I actually could get anything done. They spoke in their own language and did not seem to really understand what I wanted even though I repeated myself over and over using as many synonyms in German as possible.
Their infant also seemed to be more important than performing their business or customer service.
Meanwhile, I now know it was all a part of their act to scam me for my hard-earned money for a very poor job done.
I went in 5 mins prior to my appt. and explained what I wanted yet again. Then it began. "Gel polish is different than Schellack so we need to charge 10€ more to remove it from your feet and hands. Since you are getting both manicure and pedikure we will offer you a special price of 28€ (2€ off normal price). We only accept cash so you will need to go get it."
Eventually, they agreed to me sending the money using my bank app.
The water for the pedicure was cold and there was no soaking, moisturizing, or massaging So, everything that belongs to a professional pedicure was missing. They cut my cuticles instead of pushing them back and cut up my skin and sometimes cut the nails out too deep. Also, no bag was put in the tub for hygiene purposes. Hope I don't contract anything.
And, the 20€ gel removal on both hands and feet consisted of violently sanding off the polish and most of the nail with it. It burned. On youtube it is made clear not to remove it this way, but instead much more gently, using acetone. I blindly trusted professionals, I guess. :(
As the pedicure was "finished" they said it would cost extra for polish. Um...it was barely a pedicure and then no polish? Not "American Style" at all as advertised all over their salon. Also, what was the lrice we agreed on beforehand? So, then I was told I would have to send 15 euros more for color on both feet and hands (on the price list it said 7€). I got one uneven, rushed, and crappy looking coat of the color of my choice on my toes. See pictures.
It was the same with the manicure. Cold water, little soaking, cutting my cuticles and the skin around my nails with it as well as cutting through one of my nails and proceeding to tell me it can be covered up with polish. No moisturizing or massaging. Then a rushed paint job.
Not American Style. Not without an appointment. Price list is worthless.
The result: I was probably robbed of 30€ and was up all night with itchy dry feet and hands as well as stinging painful wounds on my fingers.
Don't go here. They cheat the tax system and aren't offering a relaxing, hygienic, or quality experience at all. read more
