TLDR - was ghosted completely after a visit; didn't feel we were welcome…read more A bit of a background, we visited this montessori to explore the possibility of enrolling our old child (less than a year old), when eligible in 9 months or so at the earliest. My spouse and I, we are both immigrants with no immediate family here for the support. We both have graduate degrees in STEM and work full-time. This montessori, given its proximity to our home and hours of availability, would have been a great option for my child to enroll. Unfortunately, we felt we were not really welcome here based on our visit and follow-through, or the lack of it. My wife made the first approach and was strongly encouraged by a staff at the school to arrange a possible visit. For clarification, the visit is a part of the multi-step process of getting admission. This staff mentioned to my spouse that this would be the best time to explore the possibility of enrolling our child. My spouse was very excited for the visit, which had to be scheduled between 9-10 am when they accommodate at most 2 people/families a day. The visit was alright for the most part. There were few odd moments here and there but we have gotten accustomed to those from our visits to other daycares and such. We were also informed by the staff giving the tour, a different staff from the one who my wife initially contacted, that the admission is really competitive and difficult to get. This sounded slightly different than the prior information from the staff. It was still understandable given how strained childcare and educational services have been in the area. At the end of the visit, we were given a brochure but were informed that they were out of the application form - odd again but not out of the norm. We were told the staff had our email and will send us the application form, and we could also reach out if we had more questions. My spouse emailed this staff with the questions the very same day. After getting no response for a couple of days, my spouse called the said staff and left a voicemail after receiving no answer. We never heard back and never got that application form. My wife again emailed the following week to no avail. We were ghosted and started wondering if we failed to meet certain standards they had set, unbeknownst to us.This is even more baffling given the fact the staff barely asked us, the parents, anything to know us. Now, in any other place, this would be an issue with one staff. Here, based on the information available on their website, it sounds like the multi-step admission process goes through certain staffs, not committees. We started asking ourselves what the chances are that if we couldn't hear back after multiple attempts or receive an application form, our application will be adjudged fairly, let alone be accepted. I am not sure whether I should be happy that the staff showed us how the "educational place" is before we got heavily involved or I should be saddened that an early development school is unwelcoming to many.

I remember being so worried with our first child - are we doing the right thing? Maybe we should't…read morebe doing this; Maybe we should be trying that etc. And I have to admit, till this day, I keep having the same inner dialogue. But there is one area, where this conversation has ceased. And that is 'What is the right school for our children?'. MSGH is a unique Montessori school that not only provides an authentic education that perfectly balances academics with life & executive skills, but a school that has created such a loving and caring community that we truly call our second home. That is the one area, where I don't have to worry anymore - I know my children are being lovingly cared for, receive the right amount of support to flourish emotionally and to grow into mature individuals that are strong academically but also feel responsible to make our world a better place for everyone.

They employ…read morea diverse staff that brings a variety of teaching styles that keep the activities fresh and engaging for all of the children; the infants, toddlers and preschool. The kids are always learning something new and they are always having fun (while developing the social skills). Monthly and weekly themes and lessons are consistent, clear, and well communicated with the parents to allow them to be involved and able to follow up and easily provide enrichment after school. Communication across the board is too notch. Throughout the day parents get regular updates via the Brightwheel app, including pictures, meal updates, and potty and/or diaper changing schedules. The app is also used to send centerwide messages from the staff, as well as personal notes to alert us to any issues the children may be having. I could go on forever about my experience and have nothing but positive things to say about FFLL. I highly recommend 'Foundations' to anyone who is in need of childcare and/or preschool. If you are currently looking you owe it to your children to call and set up a tour with the director Marie! I have had direct experience with different ages and classes. I can assure you that you will find compassionate, caring and engaged teachers in every room who will work with you to achieve the goals you have for your child!

Many students fresh out of high school think that going here will look "bad" in the long run when transferring, and finding a career, but I strongly disagree. Professors Valerie Royals and Dr. David Rodgers are great. I took classes in communications, micro/macro economics, financial/managerial accounting, all of my general ed classes, etc. And guess what? They ALL transferred to the University of Hartford, all 60 credits. Many of the full time staff and adjunct teachers have real-world experience and incorporate that into every day lessons. Some also teach part time or night classes at UCONN or UHART. I also remember having a professor in marketing who worked full-time for Pfizer, and a professor and mathematics who works full-time at the Hartford. I can't guarantee that those same people will still be there now, but when I can tell you is that this experience was not only great, but I was able to commute from my house extremely easily, and it saved me tons of money! I am now out of college debt-free because I started off I community college. To put it in perspective, I spent two years here, that's four total semesters as well as a few summer classes here and there to speed up the process. Each semester ran me about $1750 not including books. Books or anywhere from $3-$500 depending on the semester. This is pennies on the dollar compared to the university I transferred to! I also can't say with 100% confidence these prices because are the same because this was about 3+ years ago and I'm sure they have risen but they are most definitely cheaper then any state school or university! Some other perks about Northwestern are: free printing from the library, free tutoring assistance for classes, small class sizes, office hours with professors, opportunity for extra credit, activities part provided by the school and clubs to participate in!

I have…read morebeen in contact with these offices for the past month on trying to get a summer class and EVERY-TIME I called including today NOTHING has been done.. and it's so frustrating because it affects my overall graduating timeframe. The summer class would mean for me to graduate in a timeframe that I need to in order for me to move forward with my career. I would really appreciate that the staff would care about their students and the ones that are checked out I will hope their superiors are noticing the amount of errors and the lack of follow through so they can have people who actually want to work there work there.

Don't let the stigma of community colleges fool you…read more This is a wonderful school at a much lower cost than other traditional post-secondary institutions. Majority of the staff are super nice and kind. My professors were amazing; a lot of them were/are not only professionals in their field of study (my Forensic Science instructor, Bob O'Brien, worked under Dr. Henry Lee, otherwise known as the godfather of modern forensics), but amazing and helpful individuals that truly wanted to see their students succeed. Their tutoring/writing center and academic counselors are also wonderful; you just need to seek out their assistance on your own (it's not high school, so there will be no hand-holding here). There's also a book scholarship fund for those who are struggling financially in the Student Affairs office. Definitely seek that out as well if applicable. Also, Robert Turner is THE gentleman to seek out if you plan on transferring in courses or transferring out of the school to another institution. :) Basically, it's a great school with a great price, with a super supportive community. I highly recommend that anyone looking to take some courses, whether it be for personal enrichment or prerequisites for a four-year degree look here first. I plan on completing my Paralegal Certification here once I can secure an 8-5 shift at my fulltime job (so I'll be able to take night classes). :D

We've watched our son blossom under their care, supervision and gentle direction. Art, play, music, special guests and performers - every day is a new learning adventure that our son excitedly talks about when we pick him up from school. Other pluses = There is a full kitchen and the kids and teachers often prepare food together, the playground is fully contained but in a relaxed, wooded environment, the school is right off of the bike trail, close to the Canton library and downtown Collinsville, and Mrs. Doran (one of the teachers) is a gifted puppeteer. She won our hearts immediately, along with the other wonderful faculty, who are highly educated and LOVE working with this age group (3s and 4s). The open house happens twice a year, but you can always call to schedule a visit. Their summer camp is great, too! We truly will be sad to say goodbye when our son graduates from the 4s program at Trinity Nursery School.
