However, as I went through the claim process with my insurer and reached out to other HVAC companies, I was given much better and cheaper proposals. Aside from that, I asked Kearney to repair everything electrical related to the fire. However, as they were finishing up the job they said they didn't have the parts they needed to do the last component, and asked if they could do it later when the HVAC replaced. Ultimately I didn't have them do the HVAC, but asked them to come back to fix the last remaining part of the electrical (which was actually the component that caused the fire and was a safety hazard). At that point, they told me I'd have to get a new quote and pay in-full for that visit separately. When I originally asked them for a quote/repair on everything electrical related to the fire, I thought they would at least repair the thing that caused the fire. But, because I was accommodating and agreed to let him come back later, I'm getting charged again. Partially, this is on me for being too trusting, but it's also on them for bad faith business practices.

Two years ago they replaced one of our furnaces which had outlived its useful life. Last winter (2026) the furnace heating our upstairs, located in our attic, died. Dan, Jay and Corry arrived on a bitterly cold day to replace this furnace. Access was not easy as it required climbing a ladder in a bedroom closet and going up through a small opening in the ceiling. I don't know how the men were able to take the old equipment out and install the new furnace but they did it. We couldn't be happier with the service Simmons Plumbing & HVAC provides.
