This is a review for the summer camp, only, where my seven-year-old Onondaga Chief has been going…read morefor two years in a row. Adam Wallach and Ken Barer do an incredible job of running the camp, marketing it, communicating with parents, rallying kids for weekly spirit days -- and generally rockin' it. The kids swim twice day and are given just the right amount of freedom for their age. My guy was thrilled to ride his bike around on trails independently (without a grownup following closely) in mountain biking. Picky eater though he is, he seems to eat decently well, carbo-loading every day at lunch. Kids get occasional treats like fruit sushi, which the kids get to make themselves, trips to an ice cream truck, and cold (not-too-unhealthy) popsicles in the afternoon. Our guy kept telling us about eating fresh strawberries at lunchtime that were picked, he said, from the camp's own strawberry patch. (I can't verify this claim; it did seem like it'd take an improbably long growing season and an awfully, awfully large patch of strawberries to supply all those hungry kids for the summer.) Counselors keep the kids hydrated in the heat, buses are shockingly timely (MTA should take note!). Bus counselors do a great job of communicating bus arrival times. Activities are varied and interesting, including options like "mining," water works, pottery, archery, crafts, farming(!), all manner of sports (tennis, soccer, baseball, etc..) -- and there is always something new going on. My guy was excited to go from the moment he woke up each morning. Yes, the camp is guilty of blatant cultural appropriation -- but we get that at this point, there's monetary value in the branding that makes change difficult. At least they're changing the logo in coming years. We'd be thrilled if they actually taught the kids a bit about the tribes of the Haudenosaunee / Iroquois Confederacy that the groups are named after. (Our son reports that there is some sort of small "museum" on the grounds with a few artifacts found on-site.) We did some of our own research. All in all a fabulous, fun way to spend the summer. Our guy is counting the years until he gets to be a counselor himself.

The kids back then were mean as hell for no damn reason lol. To this day I feel like they were mean because I have a dark skin tone. It could have also been because I'm from the Bronx? Maybe the New Rochelle culture was too much of a contrast for my parkchester attitude. They were just kids so what did they know at the time. All I know was I hated it and I made no friends lol. I can't speak for how the place is today. Hopefully it's made a change for the better. Being 11 sucked. Best thing about that camp was learning to swim. The deep water test was not a joke! And I loved the bus rides home, only because I was going home LOL. SORRY TOM!

Having a graduate and another currently attending, I can atest to the high quality of care you will receive at the Early Childhood Cebter at Memorial United Methodist. The administration is very responsive, answering questions quickly. The facility is beautiful, with 2 large playgrounds, as well as 2 auxiliary play areas. Best of all, the teachers are nurturing and atuned to every child's needs. They are patient and responsible, most having 5 plus years experience in the field of early childhood education. Plus, the schools hours are very flexible, accommodating for all family needs. Truly a magical place!

I had never been to a game sports until we had my daughter's birthday party here a week ago. She…read moreand her friends had a great time. The coaches who led the games with kids, were great as were the ones who helped set up the party room, decorate and hand out the food after the sports portion. All the staff were polite and helpful, which I really appreciate. Lotoya was very nice and helpful and ensured everything ran smoothly. What I did not appreciate, was that even prior to the party there was a rushed sense of the owners packing a lot of people in and focusing on the margins. I'm all for people running a successful business, but charging what I consider to be a fair price, but is normally a two hour party and making clear that we only had 1.5 hours with only a half an hour to have pizza, sing happy birthday, have cake and then be out, didn't feel good. I will say the staff did an excellent job making sure everything ran smoothly and did it in the time that we were allotted. But 1.5 hours is very definitely not enough time...2 hours is what we really need and typically what is given for a party at places, and even that can feel rushed, but it's understandable and doable. It's also not a great feeling to leave readers on a web page told in more than one way that they should tip, when they are paying $550 for a party. Paying staff well falls on the owners. That said, it was a fun party, just a little too short .
