I went to this pharmacy in early October 2021 to have my vaccine shot, and I highly recommend this place. I wanted to have a particular shot, and this pharmacy was one of a few ones carrying this vaccination in my neighborhood. I had a very positive impression about this pharmacy from the very first point that I contacted them via phone. The assistant was very pleasant, kind, and clear in answering my questions. I felt relieved and comfortable as I was nervous due to my ongoing health concerns. A day before the scheduled vaccine date, I took a walk and passed by this pharmacy just to see how it is like here. I was delighted to see this very clean, neat, quiet, and BRIGHT pharmacy, and was confirmed that my decision was right. I was actually thinking between two pharmacies - the one that was much closer to my apartment is located in a very busy somewhat dirty street, which was not very suitable for me as I was looking for a quiet and private place for this important vaccine shot. My impression about this pharmacy just kept better on the day of my vaccine shot. The pharmacist was very clear, confident, knowledgeable, and FUNNY. Throughout a very casual and fun conversation with him during the vaccination, I could tell that he made it sure that I will feel relaxed and comfortable to receive that shot. He was also very carefully observing my condition to see if I would have a sever allergic reaction to it or not. He is such a professional and very nice. This is a kind of specialist that we all would love to have including his very calm and nice assistant. I am so glad that I run into this place during my internet search and went there for this important appointment. I've been coming to Newtown Pharmacy for many years and have had the most wonderful experiences with them. I grew up in a small town in Virginia so I'm used to pharmacists who know your name and remember what you've been taking for years so they can help you to not have issues with new medications. That is what Newtown is like. I know the pharmacist here very well (Emad) and we always have fabulous conversations and he takes such great care of me. I came in as a walk-in for a COVID booster and was informed that they no longer accepted walk-ins because they were fully booked. The pharmacist made an exception for me and was able to provide the COVID booster between 2 appointments. I love this pharmacy. Switched here from CVS for my monthly scripts and have only had great experiences! They don't make you wait at all. The pharmacist and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. If there's any issues with your order (sometimes a medication will be on back order) they are on top of it & will call as soon as it comes in! I also got my Covid vaccine here which is a plus :) didn't have a wait time for that either, just did a walk in and it was so quick and easy! read more

I have been going here for over a year and Emad the pharmacist and owner of the store is extremely helpful and has a great knowledge of the drugs he administers. I always look forward to going in to see him, get my drugs and chat for a while with him. He is just an awesome guy. The store is so well stocked with really affordable items and I always get what I need there rather than getting them at a CVS, Rite Aid or Duane Reade. The most amazing pharmacy, pharmacists, and staff. Emad, the owner, along with the other pharmacists treat you like family. They know me and all of their customers by name, welcome you as soon as you walk in, and have everything ready for you. Some of my medications are uncommon for pharmacies to keep in stock. Emad and his pharmacists place special orders for me each month, receive the medication the next day, and call me personally as soon as it arrives. They're truly remarkable. They even deliver!! They go way above and beyond and go out of their way to help you, make you feel like part of their family, and do anything and everything they can for you. Emad also calls to check in on you to make sure you're feeling better if you're ill. He's a remarkable human being. I tell everyone about Newtown Pharmacy and I hands down recommend them to anyone and everyone in the Astoria area! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this pharmacy and Emad, the pharmacist. My doctor had prescribed a medication through a Duane Reade, but it wasn't in stock, so they ordered it and thought it would arrive in 2 days. When it hadn't come in after 5 days, I called Newtown Pharmacy and spoke to Emad to see if they had it in stock. They did, but he told me that I'd first have to cancel the order from Duane Reade so my insurer, Express Scripts, wouldn't think it was double-ordered. I did that. However, Express Scripts kept on denying the prescription anyway. I spoke to Express Scripts for an hour and they said the order would now go through. However, Emad called me again to say that the prescription didn't go through. Emad then called Express Scripts himself and spent an hour trying to straighten their issues out -- he finally did. I could not believe that he volunteered to speak with them and then spent so much time trying to get Express Scripts to correct their mistakes. Emad kept me informed the whole time. Emad went the whole 9 yards plus another football field to help a customer. I was amazed by his stellar service. This pharmacy is one in a million. Wish they were all like that. Most pharmacies don't answer the phone or keep you on hold until you finally give up. Often, you have to go to a pharmacy only to find that they still haven't filled your prescription. I recently switched over from Walgreens/Duane Reade mostly so I could support a local business and because I live close by, but (surprisingly) that ended up being just one of many perks! First off, I've never had to wait in a line, period, even during busy hours, which has been amazing! Second, the pharmacists are way more accessible than at big chains (I haven't had to ask any questions about my stuff, but they always ask if I have questions! Never had an actual pharmacist do that at a big chain). Third, every prescription I've had has been filled in minutes. Fourth, there's a degree of transparency that you don't get at big chains--if they need to order something, they disclose that immediately, get it ASAP, and tell you specifically when they're getting it; I've had to wait days before at big chains with no one bothering to tell me why no matter how often I asked. Finally, their non-prescription stuff (e.g. ibuprofen) is surprisingly cheap; maybe not as cheap as a buy-one-get-one-free sale at a big name pharmacy, but on par with a sale price, and definitely less than big name standard prices. I wasn't expecting that! One drawback is that there's no online presence--they call you as soon as your prescription is ready. But if you have Caremark or some of the other providers which let you monitor stuff online, there's basically no difference. For me, it's made no difference at all. Definitely recommend them! read more
