had been going to Newdermamed for treatments with Nadia, who was absolutely amazing. She was knowledgeable, personable, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. Since she left, however, the quality of service has noticeably declined. The new provider is consistently 30 minutes late for appointments, which is frustrating and unprofessional. I also recently received a peel that had no visible effect -- it felt like a waste of time and money. Came here a couple years back for masseter muscle Botox. The clinic was clean, organized, and professional but the result I got in regards to the procedure was baffling. I get the same procedure and the same amount of units every year. I decided to try this place out since they were offering a promotional pricing at the time. After I received my injections, I waited a month with no visible result what so ever. Mind you, I know how much of a significant difference this procedure makes for my jaw line, as I severely grind my teeth at night and tend to overproduce my masseter muscle. Hence why I get the injection every 8 months or so. I don't know if the injector was not experienced or if the Botox was mixed with saline water to compensate for the promotional pricing but I would never go back here again. read more

Super unprofessional service. They're always super late every time I come to my appointment and I have to wait forever. Also, they never send an email confirmation whenever I make an appointment. You have one job, how hard is it to send an email confirmation? How hard is it for the doctor to just show up on time when I have an appointment? If I can travel an hour for appointment and make it on time the doctor can surely be on time for the one that I'M PAYING FOR. Update: After reading the reply that I received from "NewDermaMed", I felt like I needed to write an edit/update. After receiving treatment from NewDermaMed, they truly hound you for another "followup" appointment. They really try to upsell their products and services. I'm assuming by "missing my follow-up appointment" meant "you didn't come back to buy more stuff from us". (See other reviews) Aftercare and education should be given before, during and immediately after the appointment. It should not be offered half-assed for another appointment, where you simply try to sell more. They'll attempt to usher you in for a "follow up" appointment. Their explanation and defence of my review is meaningless - "Our record shows that you were booked for a follow up appointment a month after the treatment and unfortunately you missed the appointment" I didn't "miss an appointment", I chose not to go back to NewDermaMed after the first one. read more

I wanted to wait until my treatments were fully healed before writing a review, so here I am, almost 9 months after my initial consultation with NewDermaMed at Yonge and Sheppard. I initially went in for a consultation on getting a really stubborn nose wart removed. My first impression was that the facility was very impressive, well kept, and sparkling clean. They greeted me and offered complimentary coffee and chocolates. Then I found out that they also offered mole removal - something that I've been meaning to look into. They gave me a VERY reasonable quote for each service, explained the procedure, and informed me that each treatment would include a complimentary follow up appointment. I was a little suspicious of the cost because in life you usually "get what you pay for", but I decided to take a risk and called them back to schedule an appointment. I signed a waiver before treatment began. I followed their post treatment instructions and the wart fell off about 3-4 days later. I went for the follow up appointment and it was as if the wart was never there! This was a huge sigh of relief for me because I had been dealing with this wart on my nose for years! For some reason my skin is prone to growing warts over time, so I went back to NewDermaMed at least 2 more times to get new warts removed. One of them was larger than usual but they quoted me the same price as the smaller warts for being so loyal to them. Now for the moles. I had two of them on my face that hurt my self esteem for a very long time. Both the wart and mole removal used the same procedure so they costed the same price. The moles did go away after two follow ups (they did not charge me for a third treatment on the moles) but unfortunately I'm not as happy with the results as there are scars in place of the moles now. However, this was nothing that I did not expect, as they outlined in the waiver that I signed that scarring may occur post treatment. Just be aware that scarring may occur if you do decide to have a mole removed. One thing that didn't go unnoticed here is that they didn't pressure me into making a decision on the spot. Customers often worry about getting harassed with the upselling of services, and I respect the ladies at NewDermaMed for allowing me some time and space to think about it. After the consultation, they emailed me a copy of the quote, and I was free to walk out and make a decision on my own. Evidently, I came back to get the services done (and more!!). Like the rest of Yonge and Sheppard, parking is paid but if you love Whole Foods then you're in luck! Just grab a bite to eat for $15 after your appointment and you'll be able to park there. Overall, my experience with NewDermaMed has been very positive, and I would recommend their services to others. I was a little wary because of the reviews that previous Yelpers have left. However, I believe that the staff at NewDermaMed have heard their voices. They've stepped up their game and I didn't run into any issues that were outlined by previous Yelpers. This review is for the location at Yonge & Sheppard. It's been open for over a year, and I was curious to try a treatment, but hesitated because I was concerned I might be pressured to purchase additional products or treatment (I don't have a lot of experience with medical spas). I had a great consultation and they provided me with a lot of feedback and information. What I liked most was they asked me whether I was concerned with any particular aspects of my skin--they did not push treatments arbitrarily--they left it to me to express specific concerns. I opted for the Laser Genesis treatment for skin redness and was able to make an appointment for the next day. All the staff members I dealt with were prompt, friendly, and professional. My experiences on both days were of great customer service--they even offered coffee or tea. The treatment itself went well; the nurse, Alyssa, practiced good hygiene (wearing gloves, cleansing the skin thoroughly before treatment). She checked in frequently to see if I was comfortable with the heat level (it never became painful). Afterward there was some residual redness, but it faded within the next day (as the staff had advised it would). To experience lasting results, they advise 3-6 treatments, but it really varies between individuals. I would definitely consider returning here, given the experience I had. My advice for clients here is to carefully read all the details in advance. The staff do their very best to remind people that everyone has different issues with their skin, so it's not possible to predict the same outcome for any given treatment, and some people might require more treatments for specific issues. read more

Super clean and professional overall! Came here on a quiet weekday evening for a complimentary consultation. The staff did a scan of my face which provided an assessment of the different areas to target for improvement. The nurse was very nice and addressed all my concerns, despite my endless questions on skincare and causes behind dark spots, wrinkles, etc. After reviewing my skin needs, the nurse walked me through a range of their services. What I really liked was seeing before and after examples of what I could expect for results, along with a realistic explanation of what my skin would actually need. The reason I am giving this review is because I was surprised to find out that what I was quoted ended up being double the price for the procedure without an apology or explanation given. I was also displeased and found it unprofessional that a staff member entered the private room I was in while I was half naked and getting dressed. HORRIBLE. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND. I went to NewDermaMed for a small mole removal at the beginning of November. All was fine except for the 30 minute wait. The girl who performed my service informed me that it would take a week for the mole to fall off. Fast forward 2 weeks, and the mole is still there and bright red!!! So I called to book a follow up appointment. I go in today for my follow up and arrive 10 mins prior to my appointment which was at 3:30pm and check in with the girl at the front desk. I am the only client in the waiting room, and every employee is sitting in an office laughing and chatting loudly. I sit, and wait. At 4pm I finally go to the desk again and ask when I will be seen as I have other things to do today. She says "we're ready to see you now" Great! You're ready half an hour after my scheduled appointment time that's wonderful. She leads me to a room where there are two nurses cleaning up and some blonde lady rushes in, doesn't introduce herself and asks to see my mole. Clearly, they have to treat it AGAIN. So she starts cleaning the area etc. and I'm thinking "okay once she starts the procedure she'll put on gloves" NOPE. No gloves, super unprofessional, in casual clothing, burning a mole off my face. I found out about NewDermaMed through a friend. I am always wary about places that have to use lasers (rightfully so), but I have never had such a good experience. I lucked out and got a great deal on a package for laser hair removal. For years of waxing and attempting electrolysis (which left my skin scarred and damaged), the staff at NewDermaMed have really done me a great service. My skin is healing and the annoying, and often embarrassing scarring, has all but gone away. I feel better, confident and happier - and I definitely will go back for other treatments. First off, their facilities are clean and the whole atmosphere is very, very professional. As I as before, I was always wary about lasers (which made me go towards electrolysis first) but after my initial consultation, I felt really comfortable. The staff is wonderful. Alin did my first consultation and treatment, and my second session was done by Gretchen. Both have been skillful and very knowledgable on their craft. The girls at the front desk are wonderful (I especially love Sophia) and always offering me water and making me feel comfortable. The whole experience makes me forget that they are searing hairs off my body. My first session left me with a little redness, but that was to be expected and I assume that since my skin had been damaged from other procedures, that it was affected. But as time wears on, each time gets easier and easier (plus it only takes 15 minutes max, which I can totally live with!). I chose this place to get some work done on my face. I had some pretty big Ice Pick scars on my nose that I wanted to get treatment for. I only got three treatments my first go around as they are epxensive. HOWEVER, considering the amount of reduction in scars I saw, I would say it was definitely worth it. Cristobel (spelling?) was very kind and informative she walked me through the whole process, she were pretty straight up with me saying that most people see the best results after 6 sessions, but they weren't pushy about it. So I felt comfortable buying three. To be honest, I'll probably go back and get more sessions in the future. They let me know that I would see improvements and for three sessions I'm very happy with the kind of improvement I saw. They have this high tech laser scanning photo stuff that takes your before and after pictures, shows you the brown spots on your face and your "skin age" or something like that. I'm very skeptical when it comes to things like that. That being said, regardless of what that stuff said about what my skin looked like aterwards (it said there were mostly improvements) the visual test was the one that I cared about. Regarding Post care and everything they don't beat around the bush, they tell you that you're going to probably be red and itchy for several days, they also say that everyone is different. My first and last treatments were the most painful and the longest healing, but that's because we went very aggressive with the lasers. If you do your vinegar soaks you'll heal quicker. You might get super itchy, I did my first time. The only reason I wouldn't give them a five is because their line of skincare is very expensive. For the price of the laser resurfacing you'd hope they'd throw in some stuff, but I get it, nobody works for free. That being said, they're not jerks and don't make you feel terrible if you don't want to buy it. I did buy a facial cleanser and it's the best one I've ever used, that is definitely worth it. It comes in a blue bottle I forget what it's called. All in all it was a great experience, I'm very happy with my results and they're better than I had initially thought would be possible after three treatments so that's a huge plus. I have been going to this clinic for over a year and a half to get laser treatment done in a small area and was told to experience hair reduction by 60-80% in 4 sessions. As of today, I have purchased 15-16 sessions over the last 2 years and have seen minimal reduction in hair growth. I've asked the nurses and experts for their opinions on why that's the case and what can I do but they haven't given any guidance and instead provide vague responses. Every session is with a different girl and when I have expressed my dissatisfaction numerous times, they still continue to give me a different nurse. Do not waste your money here. All the staff are friendly and very helpful, I often pop in with a new question and they always take the time to help me. Had a package of 4 hot sculpture treatments for fat removal of inner thighs followed by 2 more and one cool sculpture that was on the house after my complaints - zero results. Establishment is clean but I was unhapppy that I had to call numerous times for my follow up when the procedure did not produce results at all and I was the perfect candidite for it - fit with one trouble area of stubborn inner thigh fat. I also disliked the sales pitches during 'some' appointments and that 'their photos show results' because I measured and had my own practionier verify before making any complaints. Alright, so after reading June's review, I thought I would share my thoughts on NewDermaMed due to my similar experience with mole removal. Around the end of 2016, I was very interested in the laser hair removal services offered at NewDermaMed as the number of reputable laser hair removal locations in Toronto is really quite limited. When searching "laser hair removal" on Yelp, the top two searches with the highest reviews were Bellair and NewDermaMed. I decided to go with NewDermaMed because I heard that a friend had previously tried some of their treatments at the downtown location. Since laser packages are very pricey, I decided to test out NewDermaMed with mole removal; a $100 service rather than $2k for the laser I wanted. At the time, NewDermaMed had about 4 stars on Yelp and its North York location had just recently opened. I booked my consultation for mole removal at the North York location, which appeared very nice, bright, spacious, and clean. This upscale appearance gave me very high hopes for the services offered. The staff did not seem super friendly, however the woman providing the consultation seemed quite nice. When I sat down for my consultation, I told the woman that I was interested in mole removal and asked how much it would cost. I pointed at the mole and after quickly glancing at it for less than a second, I was told that it would cost $100. She then went on to ask when I would like to book my appointment. At this point I was quite bemused because I was given absolutely no information--info such as what removal method would be used or how long it would take to heal would be nice?? Upon asking which method would be used to remove the mole, I was told that laser. At this point during the consultation, the total amount of time spent looking at my mole was less than a second. I then said I would decide at a later time and call to book an appointment for the removal when I was ready (as my ticket out of the place). I didn't really put much thought into NewDermaMed after that experience, but then I received a follow up phone call and thought to myself, "hey the consultation wasn't so informative but how bad could the actual mole removal service be?? How badly can they mess up?". On the day of the mole removal, I signed some consent forms, one of which said "electrocautery" but I didn't really think much of it. I was then led into one of the rooms, where I waited for treatment. The aesthetician arrives promptly and does not say a single word--not a hello or a smile. She then takes out all of the equipment needed from the cupboards and then asks, "where is it" and takes a couple photos of the mole. She then pulls out a needle and injects it into the affected area. At this point I am a little confused and ask, "so... what did you just inject" which she then responded, "lidocaine, to numb the area". She then went on to removing the mole, with a tool that burns the mole off, which I later learned was not a laser but electrocautery. After that, I just awkwardly remained in the chair because she wasn't saying anything--I think that was my cue to leave. I vaguely recall her saying something along the lines of "okay that's it" or "that's all". I was somewhat baffled at this point because no aftercare information was provided. Not even a bandaid. I asked "so, how should I take care of this?" and I was then told that I could put some polysporin on it. I then hopped out of the chair, said thanks and left. For over a year, the mole was left red and visible. Today, the mole, although not as red, still remains visible and the bump can still be felt. Luckily my mole is not in an area as visible as my face! Overall, I will not be returning to NewDermaMed. Staff were not super friendly, do not seem very knowledgable, and do not use very good judgement when it comes to tailoring services to your specific needs. What's funny is that NewDermaMed will always follow up on a consultation or email asking about their services -- they will even call you a number of times if you do not pick up. However, after the service, I did not receive any follow up whatsoever. I think what was most appalling was the fact that no after-care information was provided. This demonstrates NewDermaMed's lack of interest in your results. Overall, I will not be returning to NewDermaMed's North York location. The reason why I am giving this place a 2/5 rather than a 1 is because of the cleanliness and aesthetic appearance of the actual store. Perhaps the downtown location is better and worth a try??? Do come here however, if you'd like a scar to remember your mole forever :) read more

After years of shaving and waxing I was ready to switch to laser hair removal. I have tried other laser machines and found that the Cutera machine at Newdermamed provides the greatest long term results. While other machines like the soprano had great results the first sessions I found the results failed to improve with more treatments and the hair came back after a while. I only needed 5 sessions and it has been 6 months since I completed the last session. I couldn't be happier with final results. Newdermamed definitely leaves a great impression. With a clean and professional environment, great location close to the subway, and friendly staff I will definitely continue to go to Newdermamed to try out other procedures. #latereview i finished my 6sessions of laser hair removal 3months ago. i've been wanting to do this procedure for so long. I've never done this treatment and scoped out 2 other clinics before booking sessions with newdermamed. I had a fantastic experience because of my nurse/technician - Alishe! She made it tolerable, always made sure i was comfortable and okay, taking breaks when i needed to - very accommodating. In terms of quality of hair removal - there is less hair growth, i notice some spots there are no more hair growth. It didn't work as well on my upper lip because that area i guess is more hormonal. But my brazilian, legs, and underarm worked really well. I was shaving every other day - i was really hairy and tried every method - plucking, epilator, waxing, neet etc..., but with laser hair removal, every two months and sometimes no shaving at all. procedure left my skin smooth. I may have to come back to do more sessions as the recommended is a min of 8 sessions. I will def come back here and ask for Alishe! read more

This place is a saving grace. Catherine is honestly the most skilled injection professional I've ever been to. So to give some background, I saw a very expensive, sought after injection specialist three years ago and I ended up with lumpy lips and a terrible reaction. I was scared of ever trying again until one of my best friends reassured me that Catherine was the best of the best. Reluctantly, I took a chance, and she genuinely changed my life. I went from having overdone, lumpy lips to classy, smooth, well-proportioned lips. She then did a bit of Botox in my forehead and in between my brows. But she doesn't oversell you or make you look unnatural. I actually asked her for a bit more in between my brows and she said "trust me. It won't look natural, come back in a few weeks if you feel the same"..she was right. I now get my Botox and lips done only by Catherine and I get all my laser done by Olga who is also unbelievably skilled. I came to NewDermaMed on a whim, not expecting miracles, mainly because the new uptown clinic at Yonge & Shepard is conveniently located in my weekly routine. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they do miracles at NewDermaMed but my experience was very good. Aside from the pristine and moderne environment, the staff there is always very friendly and they made me feel like they do indeed care if I was happy with their services, if I see results after the procedures they recommend. I've been working really well with Catherine who gave me a few Botox and PRP treatments. Catherine pays attention to details, she examines the "before" situation carefully and applies the treatment professionally and responsibly to get the maximum benefits. And she follows up, she checks with me even if I don't have a "formal" appointment with her. The results are visible, many of my friends noticed the improvements in my face skin. Without sounding too boastful, two of my friends out of Canada whom I hadn't seen for a few years asked me this summer if I had a secret for staying young. That confirmed the trust I gradually built in Catherine and the rest of the team here. I've been a regular client at Newdermamed for 2 years because of their good services. I used to have severe acne scars so I first went there for fractional laser resurfacing. I consulted Alin who is so knowledgable and would never recommend useless stuff for you. I believed that I chose the right place and time has proven that I was right. They only have one type of laser hair removal which is nd-yag. The results were ok, but the aestheticians missed out several spots in every session I visited. Consider that it cost a lot for one session, this is not acceptable. I would understand if it's only one time but every time is too much. I had my first consultation with Alin. At the time I had mild acne, mild acne scars, and uneven skin tone with dry patches. Alin recommended that I purchase 6 treatments of Laser Genesis, and 2 treatments of Microdermabrasions. After my first treatment my skin looked bright and felt slightly more plumped. I loved it... but the result seemed to only last a few days for me (after a few days, my pores were enlarged, the glow is gone, and my skin looked the same as it started. I let that past and continued to received my treatments as planned (every 3- 4 weeks with MIcrodermabrasions in between) hoping that by the end of the treatment plan i will definitely see more lasting results. But every few weeks I had the same results except I started breaking out more and more by my next treatment especially after microdermabrasion. It became horrific... My acne was worst, and my scars were worst.. I paid all that money to remove my acne scars only to leave after my last treatment with more acne causing a lot more scars, looking worst that when I started. My self esteem was crashing.... So I started looking into Botox with NewDermaMed after one of the nurse suggested it. I received my very first botox treatment with a male doctor that only comes in 2 times a week to provide Botox and Filler treatments for the clinic. Yes, he provided wonderful results. But because it was my first time I was mostly scared of the results looking un-natural or having a reactiion to it, I didnt pay attention to how many units was being used. My first treatment cost me roughly $350... I came back again for some touch up 3 months later... and it cost about $200.. then my 3rd visit cost me roughly $400. on my second visit I counted that about 8- 10 units being used but I was told that it was 22 units. I let that slide because maybe I miscounted. Then my 3rd visit i was determined to count it carefully, and counted 29-30 Units. but was told I did 41 units! HOW THE HELL DO I KEEP MISCOUNTING AT LEAST 10 EXTRA UNITS. It just does not make any sense to me. Keep in mind tha is adding an additional $100 to the cost everytime. Yes, I was satisfied with the results of the botox and the customer service I received from the nurses and receptionist. But do not appreciate dishonesty. I am not even going to blame anyone for my skin becoming worst after the laser treatments.. because it could be a lot of other factors. But for the over charges, I am still quite upset. read more

I have been struggling with unnaturally black and coarse hairs on my chin for as long as I can remember. They offered me a solution to this problem. Getting laser was something I was afraid of so I continuously shaved and waxed, but finally putting the money into it I couldnt be happier. This place is by far the best you can get. I did some research and am so happy. The receptionist, Sophia, is by far just amazing. She reschedules appointments when I cant make it (never giving me a hard time as im in school and work), the technician is just so understanding and takes care of me through it all. She had briefed me about the pain, the after effects of laser, and had told me as we were continuing the treatments. She would inform me of any heightened laser heat and would cool me down when she could. Its costly but done professionally and with the greatest of service. UNPROFESSIONAL! I initially called them to book a consultation and ended up cancelling due to bad weather. They called me NONSTOP and left countless voicemails for 2 weeks straight because of my cancelled appointment. I finally got fed up and spoke to them about this and got an awkward apology. I had an in depth conversation with the receptionist and got as much information as i could. She kept insisting that i make an appointment to speak to their consultant so i did. I was told that they would be assessing my skin and hair and providing more info as well as going over pricing. I went to my appointment and it was a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! She didnt look at my skin or hair. She didn't tell me anything that i didnt already know about laser hair removal. And after speaking for 3 minutes the appointment was over. When i pointed this out to the consultant, she looked very embarrassed and didnt know what to say. When i left the appointment, i called the office back to speak to the owner or office manager regarding my appointment because i truly felt my time had been wasted and i was quite mad as if i hadn't gone to the appointment, i wouldnt be getting home 2 hours late. They told me that it was their policy to have consultations regardless and that she would have someone call me. AND GUESS WHAT....NO ONE CALLED...WHAT A SURPRISE. They harassed me nonstop but now refuse to call me about their own mistake. They harass and hunt clients... whether they waste your time or money isn't a concern to them at all! read more

The team working here do not have their MD. I started going to NewDermaMed over a year ago, and I had the laser treatment for scars/ redness/ dark spots. The night following my first treatment, I got a huge boil on my face. I continued my treatment and told the nurse performing my treatment what happened. She said it was the products being used on my skin before and after my treatments, which were making the pimples appear. She did not however stop using the products. My skin has never been worse than during my time at NewDermaMed, and it was like I developed cystic acne. They nurses kept advising different treatments, and nothing helped. Finally, 9 months later I stopped going (leaving a credit on my account for further treatment), and went to see a Dermatologist. My skin is finally better, however now I have to deal with the scarring left behind from the acne NewDermaMed caused. Moral of the story, the nurses performing your treatment at NewDermaMed are not doctors, and are not experienced with different skin type, and I recommend seeing a Dermatologist for your skin treatments. read more
