I can't say enough about the crew that came to my house to remove several very large maple trees (the invasive kind,) and four large pine trees. The crew was friendly, polite and professional and went to work immediately upon arriving. The entire team knew exactly what they were doing from the crane operator to the guy up in the tree with the saw. Several men were on the ground waiting to take care of the downed trees. They also left the yard spotless. The entire thing was completed in under five hours. I don't understand the negative reviews. Everything about this experience, including the price, was positive. Very impressive. . . These 4 guys came in with 3 big trucks, gave tree advise, cut down huge branches, ripped up poison ivy and left within an hour and a half. They were like well oiled machine, my yard never looked better. U would never have known they were even there. Mike, the foreman of the group was a total badass. Took down 4 trees in order to take down the one we actually called him for. When Todd came out to do the estimate, we weren't told that more needed to be taken down. We were left with a written est of $800. Paul came here after a long day and short handed, cut down the tress he needed to so the one I actually called him for, could be taken down safely. Paul could have pulled me aside and said " look it's going to be more money. Didn't do estimate. Didnt see the trees in the way. Need to take all 4 to do the job. " That's a good buisness man. Not only did he do us a huge favor, but this whole job was done in about 1 hour. They cut the trees and dropped them in a clean matter. I had a company come take some of the trees and my father in law took the rest. Paul is a hard working respectable buisness owner. That was a given shown today. We had three very large trees between our house and our neighbors. It was a job that needed a crane due to the close proximity of the trees to the homes. I cannot give higher praise to this crew. Everyone had a job and everyone knew exactly what they were doing and where they had to be. It was like watching an extremely well organized and orchestrated team. On top of being extremely skilled at their jobs they were all very personable and went out of their way to talk to my 2 year old twins that thought this was the best day of their lives. Newcomb's took down trees in my neighbors backyard and when I got home I noticed one of my trees had been knocked over. It took two and a half weeks after my first call, and several calls later for them to come out and look at it, at which point they denied having anything to do with my tree coming down. I've been in my house almost seven years and the tree was there before I moved in. The sheer odds of that tree randomly splitting in half on the same day they did work in my neighbors backyard are so minute. The owner of Newcomb's laughed at me several times and refused to do anything about it. Don't use these guys, don't give them your money. I had a long wait ,but today was my day the Newcomb crew was right on time and worked great. I had about 20 pine trees from 75 to 100 feet tall,4 were leaning on my shed and 4 were hung in other trees. The worst was hanging over my neighbors children play yard. The tree climber was outstanding as was the crane operator. The whole, crew worked so efficiently , you just knew they were a well organized team I would hire these people any time I need tree work done. We had someone come out to give us an estimate. When the man showed up it was clear he already had a chip on his shoulder. When I took him to the back yard to show him what we wanted cut down he clearly wasn't listening. He refused to hear what I was trying to explain to him exactly what I wanted. Finally I asked a simple question about the procedure and he started yelling at me and accused me of not knowing what I wanted. When I tried to stop him and explain exactly what I wanted his response was, "I'll just have the office call you because clearly don't know what you want!" All of which was a lie! It was the poor excuse of a representative Newcomb Tree service sent out. He was rude, refused to listen to me and was very insulting to me. Newcomb's was recommended by my lawn service. Todd, the estimator showed up when he said and was a good guy. Since then their service has been as bad as I've seen. After two months I started calling to find out when they could start the work. Following several calls over the past month, they scheduled a date but then never showed up. They won't let me speak to the owner to inform him about what has been happening and refused to refund my deposit. I'm not sure if ownership is aware of how poor the customer service is. Their work may be acceptable, but I will call them again. There are too many other reliable alternatives. read more

I have had Newcomb's remove many trees for me over the the past 10 years ranging in size from bushes and small trees to pines and oaks towering over 80 feet in height. In short, they are the best. The process works like this. When you call the office, they ( most likely "Jen") will work with you to find a time for one of their estimators to come to your site to look at the trees and scope of work to be done. You can walk the property with them, tell them what you want done and ask questions. They will determine whether they need a bucket truck or a crane and any other necessary equipment and will then give you an estimate. Once you make a deposit, they will schedule a day to do the work. Having obtained bids from other companies, I can tell you that Newcomb's is consistently the best price you will get for high quality work. I worked with Kenny in estimating. He is friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to do business with. Ken sent me Phil's crew which consisted of Phil and three teammates. They arrived at my house on time, unloaded the equipment and cut down over 20 trees in my yard along with limbing and pruning others. These guys worked hard all day from 830 to 5 pm taking minimal breaks. Not only were they skillful cutting the trees down, they did a great job getting rid of the debris left behind and cleaning up the work site before they left. Absolute worst company I have ever done business with. From saying they would match competitive pricing and then not doing it saying "oh we won't match those competitors" to leaving my lawn trashed with cigarette butts and water bottles everywhere to not taking all the stumps and not executing per the alleged contract THAT I NEVER SIGNED...I can't even believe how much money of mine these guys got. And then when I called to try to resolve some issues they ended up coming and scaling my fence, trespassing, breaking pickets, and still shaking me down...to the point of threatening small claims court. Unmitigated disaster. You can do better...shop around. Their prices weren't that good anyway! I went with them based on a recommendation and that was a colossal mistake. What happened to Newcomb's? We had some trees taken down with them before and they were fine. We even recommended them to a neighbor who had a large tree removed. During the past blizzard we lost a large branch which we wanted removed so we called them. The attitude as well as the inflated price were enough to tell me that loyalty does not seem to count, and repeat business is not needed or appreciated. I had the job done professionally at 1/3 the Newcomb's price and this company will be taking down two more trees foor me as well as two for my neighbor. Awful company. Called them in September, couldn't get someone to come out until October. Took my $100 deposit and disappeared. Hadn't heard from them in months until we finally had to call them! They constantly gave us the "we're busy" excuse and said they could MAYBE come in January, possibly February! They couldn't even call us back when they said they would. Well, they weren't too busy to take my money. Luckily, I was able to get my deposit back, but not after multiple phone calls. Don't waste your time or risk losing your deposit. read more

Terrible! This was the worst service I have ever experienced from any home service company. I would give them no stars if I could. The estimate was poorly written, it was nearly impossible to get anyone to return my calls after they took my deposit, gave me less than 24 hours notice when they finally did decide to come, they didn't complete the job and then tried to get me to pay an additional $400 to have the work done that I asked them to do! The estimator Todd left me threatening voicemails because I called the office to complain of terrible service and an incomplete job. Overall all a horrible experience. I would never recommend Newcomb's Tree Service after the price gouging that I was witness to after the Blizzard of 2013. $8k to remove a fallen tree that was easily accessible? They finally come down to $4k for work that was worth no more than $1.5-2K. The tree was down and they were gone in less than 2 hrs. The ethics of this business is lacking to take advantage of storm victims! They know that the insurance company is not going to give the home owner that kind of money! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We were given an estimate based on the rental of equipment for a full day and 1.5 barrels of tree stumps. We were told there were full and half day rental prices but based on the amount of work he would quote the full day just in case. I figured they would be at my house no later than 9am so I waited to go into work until after they arrived. By 11:15 they still weren't there but I HAD to leave for work. My husband arrived home at 3:00 and they were just about finished and off our property by 3:30. They cleared everything out with minimal damage to the rest of the yard. HOWEVER, I was shocked when I was called the next day looking to see if they could pick up a check for the full amount which included being billed for the full day rental of equipment. When I asked what time they arrived to start the work I was told 9am. When I asked what time they left I was told 4ish. When I told him that no one was at my house at 11:15 he started to explain how he was actually giving me a break on the number of barrels they filled and they should actually be charging me for 2 full barrels. He then told me that no matter how long you rented the equipment you still had to pay the full day. Obviously the equipment that I was supposed to pay the "whole day" for was being used at someone elses house prior to coming to mine. No doubt they paid for the full day as well. My husband sent him a check which totaled a 1/2 day rental and 2 barrels then called to explain why we thought this amount was fair for the work that was done. The owner of the company told him he would have to talk to his boss about it?!?!. A week later we received a bill for the remainder of the original quote. AWFUL!!!
