My boyfriend went in there yesterday and some old white guy with a gray beard cut off all his hair. My bf has hair like Charlie Hunnam from SOA it's very long on top and slicked back. He asked the man to shave the sides of his head and that's it. He never once asked him to use scissors on him or to touch the top whatsoever and the man took it upon himself to cut all of his hair off anyway. He also didn't have him facing a mirror so by the time he noticed it was too late. Terrible service. idk why, but at first the lady who is right at the front, glasses and advanced age I think that she did not want to assist me, but since the other workers were busy she had no other option,,,Everything seemed to start well, She seemed friendly and talkative, but her body language seemed like she wanted to I disappear from there. This shop is a no frills "get your hair cut and get out" kind of place. They get your hair right, and they do the old school straight razor on your neck. Cash only. The male barbers seems to be less lazy. When you ask for finger length it means that you don't want a 5 razor, you want the slight unevenness to the cut that looks natural. The male barbers get that. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. I've been here more than I can count. The wait time on a Friday isn't too bad. The price is reasonable too. The place is kinda dingy and old inside. There is music playing low and plenty of barbers. MOST of the barbers do a good job and are friendly, EXCEPT one. There is a tall, white, blond haired lady with red cheeks that works on the 3rd seat from the left. I've encountered her bitterness before with another employee, but I thought maybe she just had a bad day. I did notice she was nicer to men though. So, today we came back. My son didn't want to be serviced by her, but we had no choice . She asked what I wanted for my child and didn't reply when I responded, so I stood there for a second. I was adjusting his cape thing because it was about to slide off his shoulder. She turned around with this face like I was impeding her job. I had said sorry and she just had a smug look on her. She asked how he styles it, I said he doesn't. So she asked how I style it, I said I don't. Which is the truth, she didn't say anything and looked annoyed. She got to work on my sons hair. When it came time to pay, she handed me my change and I will still nice enough to tip her. When I handed the money to her she snatched it off me and turned around. Absolutely horrible service! Not sure on the haircuts itself because my husband and I were not for their service. Due to covid you must call to come in, which is completely normal. My husband and I called and were told that someone would open the door for us, after 20 min in the sun we called again .... no answer. It was completely blacked out so we could not see inside and assumed maybe they are busy or they can't see us, we thought nothing of it. Then a man pulls up in a truck, he sees the sign and calls the business. As soon as he called they answered and opened the door right away. Which it was confusing to see that. All the windows were clear, thus they saw us at the door the entire time. As they opened the door for him they started to close it !!!!! My husband peeked in and made eye contact with one of the barbers and then he just nodded rudely ( kind of like ugh okay come in ). They seated the man who came half an hour after my husband first ! At this point I was ABSOLUTELY not for it. We sat in the waiting section for a little and then decided that it was super unprofessional and rude. Once inside everyone was sharing their political views and saying how they don't wear masks because it is a dumb law! UHM we have a baby at home and we are very cautious about being near anyone at all but my husband really needed a haircut. Honestly I would give no stars but we ultimately never got the haircut. Turns out there is only one kid's cuts place and it is in Apple Valley, so i ended up at Newby's, because they were the only barber open on Sunday. It was crowded and I immediately thought it was going to be a long wait, but my son was taken immediately. This was my very first "boy" haircut, so I told the man what I had in mind, and he did a wonderful job!. My son cried for a little bit, but he was given a sucker, and all was good! Loved my experience so much, that I just took my son back for his second haircut. The same man was there; his name is Joe and I think he is the owner, but I'm not 100% sure. Horrible. Wish I knew the name of the woman who cut my hair but I don't. Twice in a row with different barbers I went and had a bad experience. I don't get a haircut very often so when I do I never put a hat on but after this haircut i don't want to go in public with my hat off. I told her to give me a comb over going to the back, leave the top and give me a mid fade to a 2 with a hardline. She cut my side burns and around my ears and gave me half a hard line. I told her to cut it more on the sides (like I wanted originally), still the sides were long and not faded. It wasn't till I got home that I saw she cut my hair on top of my head by the hard line to a length that it's to short to blend in with the rest of my hair on top and longer than my sides, so it just sticks up. If I try and comb it or push it down a certain way you can see how crooked and weird looking my part and hardline is. It took a lot of gel and combing to get my hair to even look somewhat okay in the pictures just to show how messed up it was. read more

I am a pretty picky person when it comes to a consistent, professional haircut. I also want to get in and get out without a lot of chit chat. I am actually willing to pay a higher price than normal to get this kind of service. I was a little reluctant to try out Newby's because it looked a little sketchy from the street view but the yelp ratings convinced me to give it a try. The inside was what you would expect in a typical, clean barber shop. Lynn sat me down and with minimal instruction from me, she got right to work... with minimal chit chat! In less than 15 minutes I had exactly the haircut I have been trying to get for the last 5 years from my previous hair stylist. And the price was crazy reasonable... $10!
