Daviess County Public Library - Book selection

    Daviess County Public Library

This library was built in 2007 and is vastly different from the previous building. The whole design…read morefeels very sleek and modern; the designers and architects obviously put a lot of time into this and attention to detail. It feels spacious and open. Personally when I go to a library I prefer to look for a nook/cranny that I can snuggle up in with my books and laptop. This library does not really offer that. It has some tables to sit at, but each floor is just one giant room, and the sound from the other side of the library can carry all the way over to you. The children's area is not separated from the rest of the library, which I think was a mistake. Aside from my personal preferences, this is a beautiful, up to date library that is a great asset to Daviess County and surrounding counties.

I love this library! As much as I looooved the old one, this one has definitely grown on me. It's so nice to be able to grab something that may not be on the streaming sites, and have 5-7 days to watch/listen to it! I like the access to the computers at the end of every couple aisles. This is where you can find the availability of something. I have to say I have struggled with the system of finding books here, with the numbers and letters, but once you learn it it is easy. They have everything you want plus things you never even heard of or thought you'd find. There are little pockets that have tables/chairs to read or study in, most the time there will be a few open but after school hours tends to be busy. The parking lot is big and has two entrances/exits making it not too cramped. They have events in the little space outside which is nice in the summer! Get a library card if you haven't- they're free! Thanks DCPL.
