I used to be able to actually talk to people instead of AI generated or website generated messages who would help but wouldn't be able to make changes on change of my health insurance. However, one of only Office People Who Helped me out (the only one) was Yeng. I had others say 'happy holidays.' just for me to hang up without resolving the issue. Unprofessional!! My experience with this office genuinely felt punitive, negligent, and unethical. My therapist moved here from another office, and I decided to stay with her. To start, I was told that they record every session and use an AI service to take notes, and I felt really uncomfortable by that. I told them how uncomfortable it made me, and they kept pressuring me to accept their AI note taking service. I repeatedly expressed discomfort, but was repeatedly encouraged to consent to it. Then they told me their insane attendance policy. If you have to miss two sessions in a month, they drop you as a client, no exceptions. I was told it doesn't matter if there's an emergency or something urgent, you're dropped. And it only works one way. There were times my therapist would ask me to reschedule my session for something she needed to do, I would say I'm not free at the times she asked, and she would say "oh well that's fine, this just counts as your one per month." So my therapist would need me to adjust my schedule, and I'm the one having it count against me because I can't just drop my entire schedule to accommodate. I once brought this up, and we legitimately spent over HALF a session talking about their billing and attendance practices. I honestly got billed for a session, where we spent a majority of the time talking about their billing practices. I was billed to talk about being billed! But the part that was most galling happened recently. I was working with my therapist through an incredibly unsafe working condition, and she agreed that I am generally unsafe at my workplace and need to find another place to work immediately, since it's impacting my physical health. Only I had job interviews that were scheduled during our sessions. I would reach out proactively to try to reschedule, and would just get a blanket "I don't have any other availabilities." No offer to move things around, no offer to make things up, just nothing. During one of those times, I actually texted her that I could still make my session, only to get NO response. So naturally they count this as my one cancellation per month. Then I had another promising interview reach out, but the only time they were free overlapped just barely with our session. Again, I reached out two days in advance per their policy, only to get told "I don't have any available time." I asked if we can move it, if we can make it up another day, no response until the next morning with another cold "Just let me know I you can make the session." It really felt like my therapist was just doing everything she could to avoid any responsibility for the situation, and trying to put it on me. She texted me back asking me to attend the session and show up late to a JOB INTERVIEW, and said the reason was so they could see me for enough of a session to bill for it. Their admin reached out to me about something and I responded back regarding this, and they just legitimately had no perspective whatsoever. First I spoke to an individual who said "oh well why don't you reschedule?" I said I would love to but my therapist told me she couldn't. Then they said it was "my choice whether to attend the session or not." I told them they're telling me to either skip my job interview or be discharged as a client, and she tried to claim they weren't saying that, but that they would discharge me as a client if I missed the session. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the front desk manager called me. She had the nerve to ask me, at 5:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, if I could call and reschedule my job interview scheduled for Friday morning. What on earth are you smoking that you think this is an appropriate thing to ask someone to do? I asked if there's a way I could attend the session and leave a little early, and she said "no, you need to be there for the full 60 minutes." Which I told her was absolutely news to me, because my therapist would regularly end our sessions at 50 minutes each time. She said she would call me back to see if I could be discharged from my therapist and transferred to another, since she's going on leave next month anyway. And instead I just got an email from my therapist the next day saying I was discharged as a client, and given referrals to mental health clinics that serve the unhoused. I was told to do everything I could to leave an abusive and bad situation, then discharged as a client for taking the EXACT steps to do so! Their practices are entirely punitive, negligent, and unethical. I plan on reporting them to the state licensing board based on their behavior and policies read more

I used this therapy center when we were in the midst of Covid. The first therapist brought their political opinions to the sessions. So I requested a different provider. The second was someone getting their hours & very inexperienced. As soon as I was able to be seen by someone else, I left. Fast forward a few years, I'd been off medication for a while but felt a need to re-evaluate. I requested an appointment THREE times via their online 'Schedule An Appointment' over the course of 6 weeks. I never was contacted. (I had forgotten who this group is, memory concerns being one of my issues). Anyway, I decided to call. After providing some of the standard info (name, birthdate, insurance info) I thought the next step was to schedule an appt. But NO, they send you forms that you need to complete before scheduling an appt. So I completed the forms. Then, oh by the way, we need you to provide your credit card because you have a co-pay. OK-completed yet another form. Then, oh your 'signatures' don't match (mind you these aren't real signatures, they're where you draw your name with you mouse/finger). At that point, I gave up. I'm trying to work while on the phone for almost an hour to just schedule an appt. I rec'd a text they have an opening tomorrow. I advised that as long as it's a remote appt, I'd take it. advising to not come back with canned/scripted comments. She wanted to call me. Nope, I prefer to document using text. "All forms are good, you just need to edit..." Then, all forms are NOT good. My reply, 'Do I have a remote appt at noon tomorrow? I will not make any additional effort until appt is confirmed." Now that appt she had said was available at noon tomorrow is no longer available, but she has 2 openings next week. She can 'place a hold for the time preferred until I'm done editing the forms". My response: where are you located & who is the Operations Manager. OMG-when you're seeking mental health assistance, this is the last thing you need to go thru. They more than test your patience. EDIT: I APPRECIATE NEW U THERAPY'S RESPONSE. HOWEVER, AN HOUR TO GO THRU THE PROCESS IS TOO LONG. I CONTACTED ANOTHER THERAPY GROUP & WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE PAPERWORK & SCHEDULE INITIAL APPOINTMENT THE NEXT DAY-ALL IN LESS THAN15-20 MINUTES. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING APPOINTMENT This place cares more about the money than your mental wellbeing. I am certain this company's business model is built on top of reaching quotas of booking appointments with their doctors. I had multiple appointments with the doctors at New U - and while they were kind and thorough, the business operation as a whole is not. I recently missed an appointment due to my dad undergoing cancer treatment and something coming up at the last minute. I was unable to make my appointment without giving them a notification in advance. The New U team charged me $150 for my missed appointment. I reached out to them to see if it was possible if I could perhaps get a refund because of the circumstances and it being a one time incident. After jumping through hoops, I was told they could only credit me for a future appointment. When I asked again if they could make an exception this one time, I was told they would talk with their manager and call me back. I never received a refund, never received another call. Prior to this incident, anytime I had contacted New U, they immediately texted or called (because they are like car salesmen when it comes to getting you to schedule an apportionment - truly will call multiple times and text you). After my missed appointment incident I reached out to see if they were able to refill my prescription as I was almost out - I even filled out a request form on their website for a refill. I never once got a call back, or an email. I am now out of my medication and have to pursue a different avenue to receive medication that is critical to my mental health. I truly would recommend going elsewhere if it is possible. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! 1. Dont count on your therapists always being there, i had more than one that just left the practice without a word and found out later from the business themselves calling to set me up with some one new. The therapists are great, i think the business is just ran awfully, and my current therapist from this place chose to leave to join a different practice. Says a lot about how the office runs things if they cannot keep therapists working there long. 2. If you ever have an issue with insurance, like a lapse in coverage or any coverage issues, instead of calling to let you know, they wait until you have a $750 bill!!!! And they sure as hell expect you to pay it. I had to do a payment plan and it took me more than a year to pay off the balance!!! Also they will charge your copay so randomly that it feels like youre getting double charged at times. 3. After no longer using their services for over a year, and after i paid the large bill, they are still billing me. I just got another notice in the mail that they want me to pay them another $80 for services from 2023-2024!!!! Like wtf i already paid you guys for this stuff and now youre just trying to get more money out of me??? Not to mention the billing department is extremely difficult to get a hold of.... Okay therapists. Therapist I was assigned told me I was ranting, I did not feel heard. She seemed frustrated her techniques weren't working wand told me to seek someone out of pocket for more intense therapy. Three day cancellation policy of 150$ and not flexible or work with able you must go every week you cannot do biweekly. And in order to seek therapy you must have a diagnosis to be treated. A New diagnosis at that which is even more insane. Seems money based, I will take my mental illness elsewhere. read more

I couldn't be more frustrated dealing with this business. Everyone who calls me barely speaks English and never know what is happening in any other area of the business, every call they act like I haven't already talked to someone many times already. I was told in April of 2024 (a year ago!) that we owed almost $900 due to insurance not paying for several visits. We had covered sessions with a psychiatrist and when a therapist was recommended in addition their office set up the appt for us; the call in April I was told the person who set it up accident picked the wrong insurance code and it turns out the person was out of network after my daughter had already seen the provider 7x. I didn't pick the provider or have the chance to verify network availability; their staff admitted it was their mistake. However, they continue to have people call wanting me to pay the balance, when I re-explain disputing the balance, I am told billing management will be consulted and someone will call me "tomorrow". That never happens and now I am being threatened to be sent to collections. This isn't the only issue I have had dealing with the staff at this facility, it's just the most recurrent. It's also not the only time they have billed incorrectly or without cause. They are not able to accept accountability for their office staff and what patients are told, they don't return calls, and when asked to get information in writing they don't respond. I don't want to call them and get the run around with more undocumented conversations; I want responses in writing as they keep changing the story. I was completely let down by this unbelievably ridiculous service provided. My health insurance lists this ENTIRE facility as in-network. Thinking I was lucky and finally found a psychologist, they wait more than a day to tell me that it's only psychiatry and for therapy it's out of pocket pay, which my insurance says is false/poor information and that they DO cover out-of-network just not as much. They still deny to see me, which is because, i assume, they don't care to help me nor do they care about my desperate plea to get psychology service. The office keeps calling 3-5 times per day in a row when they know I'm at work and can't answer and they've already told me they won't see me. My assigned psychiatrist (whom I saw twice) decided to change a medication I had been taking long term and it worked well. The prescription she filled was a much lower dose and didn't work. I tried it for 4 weeks then called to request a refill using my. original prescription They totally ignored me. In my opinion, this is NOT run professionally. Very unprofessional and appalling treatment. Their auto attendant that answers the phones is very poorly set up, in my opinion. Minus ZERO stars. Beyond horrible experiences with New U Therapy Ctr. The facility asked for certain information to be emailed to them: ID front and back, and back of medical card. I sent frnt and bk of both, to be sure they got all the info they needed. I provided the requested credit card ino, etc. Several times I sent this information. They kept asking for it over and over. Finally, I called and had to leave messages. Someone called to say I needed to send them the above info which I had sent/forwarded them several times before. So, I forwarded them, again, the same info- 6 times- hoping that they would see at least one of the fowarded emails and accept it. Finally, after months they acknowledged receipt of the last "forworded" information. This is very traumatic for someone suffering from PTSD who wants help!! read more

If you are Spanish speaking please do not seek services here! I assisted a family with services here and the process was unethical and not easily accessible. Consent and intake forms are not available in Spanish and they still expect to have documents signed by Spanish speakers like this- nor offer any type of translation for it- I was told by the phone representative to just try your best. They share the process is easy and accessible, but it is not, especially for families that don't have the privilege to access these documents through a computer and only a phone. read more

I've been refused services for not having an emergency contact, messed up with scheduling, and dealt with incompetent and insensitive office staff. Owner has replied to my reviews telling me to call her but when I call I'm met with opposition and put on extended holds, only to not be able to speak with anyone. Fraudulent billing, unethical practices, and retaliatory behavior for speaking out. Owner has time to respond to reviews but other than that nothing much else. I'd give these guys 0 stars if I could. The front receptionist was so rude that I had to cancel my appointment. I originally reached out to these guys seeking a new psychiatrist for my ADHD since my new insurance didn't support my old service. It took these guys 3 days to get back to me and let me know my new insurance was approved and expected me to sign their consent forms in less than 24 hours. Take note, I honestly was working for most of the time and genuinely had a time planned to quickly fill out the forms, but the receptionist called / texted / and emailed me in 6+ different occasions which is unfortunate because I really planned on meeting with them. A message to the company: You're in the business to understand and empathize with your patients and coming from a patient POV, it's difficult transitioning to finding a new therapist given we worked with our last person for so long. I contacted them about having court and they still charged me 50$ then when I contacted them about it they talked me into using it for next appointment.. I had a work emergency come up and missed my next appointment they kept the 50$ and also charged me 150$ for missing my appointment... the staff doesn't care about you and they also put me on a waiting list due to missing my appointments mind you it was only two .... I have been going to New U Therapy for about 2 1/2 years or so. In that time I've changed insurance twice to accommodate keeping up with New U. I have had experience with therapy, medication, etc. for years and it's incredibly hard to get situated with the right people. New U made my life better. Dr. Emiliano is the best Psychiatrist I have ever been a patient of. He's wonderful. The staff is wonderful. And diligent. Anybody who goes through insurance and mental health knows that there is always something that can go wrong in billing, pharmacy, etc. Every single time there has been an issue in my treatment New U has resolved it quickly and with great care. I really can't say enough about this center or its staff. Charisse in billing is wonderful and patient, Maria, Princess and frankly all the staff I deal with are caring people with understanding, and competence and they ALWAYS get back to me and/or stay on top of me with follow-up. Highest recondition I can give to this center and I honestly don't know what I would do without them. This is a fantastic unit and a wonderful caring group of people. read more

I have had to call repeatedly and daily because Maria keeps forgetting to call me back. She has also stated multiple times that they do not listen to voicemails. She does not understand the process and over several days has sent me different documents to complete. So, just when you think you are done.... nope! She also couldn't figure out communication and cancelled my appointment. I have asked to speak to a manager 3 times and nothing. Overall, I would not recommend this practice. My provider was great. However, communication with the office and support for issues is incredibly inconsistent. Also, appointment policies are strict; even if you have an emergency and have proof. Like I mention below, you are simply a policy number to them. Have low expectations. Or, better yet, simply avoid. If you do become a client, know that getting refills can be very challenging so ALWAYS make sure you have enough medication. My biggest complaint and issue is that I was left without a refill. They say that it's easy to submit a request online but that is not true. I submitted a refill online and it took DAYS to get a response even though I submitted the request online and left multiple voicemails. When I finally got a call back, they told me they were unable to refill my prescription because my doctor went out of town for a month and they wouldn't refill my prescription until I met with a different doctor even though I had JUST met with my doctor. This was incredibly frustrating specifically because I had missed an appointment due to a family emergency and they were QUICK to charge my card on file $150 but getting a call for my prescription? Nope. Painfully slow even thought I had been a patient with them for a while. Also, yes, you will sign paperwork that each missed appointment is $150 and they are very strict with this policy; even if there are emergencies. Considering that they are a psychiatrict practice that deals with mental health, it is baffling how little compassion, flexibility, and support clients are provided. Clearly many of us will struggle with tasks because of our depression, anxiety, PTSD. New U definitely runs off a strict business model and you are simply a policy to them. If you are seriously struggling with mental health issues and need more communication, flexibility, this is not the place for you. read more

Inna and her staff work with many difficult patients. I work there as an independent contractor who practices hypnotherapy. I see how they deal with people. Most of my clients are patients and referrals from the New U Clinic. They love the staff at New U. These are challenging times. No one under these circumstances get everything right 100% of the time. But from all observations, I can tell you that this clinic and how they operate is 5 star. If for some reason you are not satisfied, contact the clinic for a resolution. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. This company is so difficult to work with regarding billing. It's like pulling teeth. If you try and call the billing department they send you straight to an automated message. You have to reach out online and it's a long process. I missed an appointment due to Covid. They charged me 185 for missing this appointment. I told them I had Covid and sent them proof. They didn't reach out to me and it took me 3 WEEKS of back and forth and I STILL haven't received my refund. I was required to give more proof and luckily I had my doctors appt and medication I was prescribed. But it's completely unprofessional to constantly have to reach out to receive one call back. If I hadn't been the one trying to constantly contact them this would never be resolved. For this reason alone I'd advise you to be careful and I wouldn't go here. Save yourself the stress I'm honestly considering leaving. I don't want to deal with this situation ever again. I have bills to pay and I needed that money to pay my bills. They don't care about my circumstances and only contact when it's convenient for them. UPDATE: So after posting this review ONLY THEN did they finally decide to call me back. Only took an hour from me posting that review. Not when I tried to call and reached out via email. It's when I left my review that I was treated as a priority. Fatima who's been dealing with my refund apologized and told me she forgot to call me 3 days ago. She then told me my refund was approved and asked if I can remove my review. I asked her why and explained why I was frustrated. She then told me that the refunds have a long process. I then told her if she would just told me that from the BEGINNING I would have been more understanding. She proceeded to tell me that she gave me her extension and I never called her. I corrected her because I was constantly calling her extension within their business hours and she NEVER picked up. She told me I didn't get any voicemails and I told her that her mailbox was FULL so I couldn't leave one but it's in the call logs the amount I called. She then told me again that this is a long process. Which I had already told her if she took time to care and tell me that from the beginning I wouldn't have been so lost constantly trying to reach out to them. Throughout this phone call she keeps asking me to remove my review. I was crying a bit on the phone because I was so frustrated I was telling her I had bills to pay and that I don't want to be put in this situation again. Hence why I'm leaving this provider and going somewhere else. She didn't even acknowledge it and just kept asking me to remove my review. She then proceeds to tell me how they didn't have to refund me because "technically" I have to cancel my appointment two days before. I had COVID with a fever of 102. The one Nurse Practitioner was nice, but the office was awful to work with. They'll say the co-pay is $20, then say it's $200. They also do not respond to pharmacy calls, which is the point of them as glorified-pharmacists. They don't respond to phone calls and sometimes respond to email. Do not go here. I know it's hard to find a psychiatrist in the area but seriously this isn't it. They make questionable medical decisions and will charge you without your consent. For months after I stopped going here and found a better doctor, they continued to charge my account on file and I couldn't get them to stop. Do not recommend for any service! At first, the facility connected me with a counselor that was fitting for the type of therapy that I needed at the time. After they left the company, I was reassigned to another counselor who was cold, lacked empathy and interest, was all over the place and honestly seemed to be there only for the money. After speaking with a receptionist about it, they seemed cold as well and didn't bother to accommodate me in the least bit. Basically said either stick it out or be put on a waitlist which would take a few months before I can see another counselor. Yeah, no. Not interested. Please - do not utilize this facility for any of your mental health needs. As I will be working in this field, I know for a fact that this environment won't help many people to get back to a healthy mental space. read more

If I could give this therapy center zero stars I would. They only allow weekly services, so if you need biweekly or once a month because you are doing better that is not allowed. They do not take emergency situations into account, so if something happens that day and you cancel you will still be charged. If you take a vacation that's beyond two weeks then you'll lose your spot with your counselor. This therapy Center is taking advantage of people's mental health. I was having pain and discomfort and very weak not to mention having to deal with all 4 of my children who are now being home schooled! My first experience with therapy and thanks to your practice, lll never seek it again! Thank you for absolutely nothing but making my life more difficult than it originally was! Updating to two stars only because Inna reached out and looked into my case apologized and admitted her billing department was at fault...my reply is as follows : Thankyou! I still don't know how my husbands information was obtained... I never supplied anyone with his information nor did I have it in my possession the time of my visit! I may have issues but I'm not crazy lol... it's just baffling to me ... I reached out to edit many times in frustration when my husband came from work! He was over drafted in his account which sparked an argument an unnecessary one! Edit completely ignored my texts never replied so I took it upon myself to look her up on Instagram and again she read my messages and proceeded to block me with no reply ! She was well aware I had medi cal... my cries for her attention went unanswered and that truly got to me! I don't open up to people hell ok not a people person! I am honestly devastated to how this all ended with her! I really did like her!! But the end result in all this made me realize why I never trust people on the first place... Although the providers deserve 5 stars here, the receptionist deducted 3 stars a (probably the same one that's mentioned in the other bad reviews) that is consistently rude (especially on the phone and even in person). Patients aren't perfect, that's why we go to medical providers. There's a difference between being assertive and being flat out rude. To each their own, but I recommend reading the other 1 star reviews because I experienced the same treatment. This clinic has lost me as a medical patient (I use an online provider now), and I only go here for counseling, which luckily doesn't require me to see this receptionist anymore when I go to my appointments. Update to 5 stars: The owner Inna contacted me rather quickly, took time to listen to my concerns, and addressed the situation. She also had Lois follow-up with me and she was very courteous and professional. read more

After already having a horrific experience with this business. I'm here again over a year later because they have outdone themselves. In May 2021, after asking since December 2020, my account was finally settled and I received my credit back. Now, OVER A YEAR LATER, I'm being charged for an appointment in Feb 2021 that never happened... Can someone explain how my account was settled and now all of a sudden I owe them money after they paid me my credit due? I haven't been a patient there since January 2021. New U therapy, you're supposed to be providing help, not prompting panic attacks. read more
