And since my last review of this establishment over 14 years ago, I make it a point to come here when I'm in town. My latest preference is that as much as I enjoy a good IPA, I'm tired of them right now. So on my most recent trip to Cyclone Liquors, I was looking for some nice Belgian Beers. Here's what I found here and took home: St. Bernadus #12, Rochefort 8, and Bosteels Tripel Karmeliet. These beers are meant to be sipped and I'll be back from more.

The selection is decent and the staff is usually polite when they're not busy. Because of the apartment complexes in the area and being right off of 86th street...they are usually busy. I've ran their pricing multiple times while I'm looking for something and their pricing is on par with Hy-Vee and Fareway unless one of the two grocery chains is running a sale. The parking lot can be difficult to navigate when it's busy...it's a small lot...and they typically have a food truck running out of their parking lot. All and all not a bad place to pop in at to check out their bottles. Every now and then you will catch them after a drop and can pick up something on the rarer side. Aisles are clearly marked removing much of the guess work if you aren't there to browse. If you don't see what you're looking for, the staff is glad to point you in the right direction or confirm if it is in their inventory. Well-provisoned with beer, wine, and spirits of all types, regionalities, and price points you are sure to find something to suit your palette and/or occasion. Things to know: * The store has limited parking, though this is not often a challenge * I have, in the past, been able to special order bottles that were being distributed in the region, but not part of their inventory.

I stopped into Neighborhood Liquor House this past Sunday after checking out Liquor Lovers…read more Neighborhood is a nice little shop with a good selection...some fairly rare bottles of bourbon just sitting out on the shelf at close to MSRP. The young lady working was polite enough, but never came out from behind the counter. Quite a 180 from my experience at Liquor Lovers. I picked up a bottle of Penelope Wheated and a New Riff for my shelf. I'd go back because of the selection. But the customer service is lacking like a lot of other shops throughout the metro... They say bourbon hunting and the people who do it make up a community all in itself... And part of that community is the store staff. To be personable, to strike up a conversation, to get to know your customers... Especially when good bottles cost $40-$200+ each... It's important.

They repackage Solo cups in 10 packs and sell for $1.49. They seemed to have a decent selection but limited. I was trying to find a couple things that I thought were stacked behind the counter. I was looking for minutes while the cashier and someone else was speaking Spanish, what seemed like a personal conversation and I was ignored. I browsed more and came back and then the cashier acknowledged me. She ended up being nice and threw in 2 samples for us. Maybe it was the amount we spent that made her generous.
