First impression of this place? Fast. Second? Fresh! That is definitely not what you expect from a Chinese place after 8pm on a Sunday night, but I was very pleasantly surprised. In short this place hit the spot and I recommend it for a normal dinner out, not just the late night munchies!

After a long…read moreday at a conference I was yearning for something other than steak or chicken, I wanted oriental food! We walked up to the place, without reservations, and were seated in a lovely spot. The restaurant is instead one of the old Baths which litter the Harrogate landscape - as Harrogate is a spa town, doing brisk business during the Victorian & Edwardian era. The interior decor was an amalgam of chinese/oriental and pre-edwardian. I was so delighted to see dim sum items on the menu. I have so longed for some steamed sticky pork buns and these were among the best I've ever had. The waiters bring out a little hotplate to the table and place your food there, so you can serve yourself. The food is kept at an optimal temperature while you share your food with your dining companion. I felt like I was back at Jade Dynasty in Toronto - one of the many places where you don't see a white-face amongst all the chinese patrons. The food was so delicious, the seasoning perfect, and there was just enough to get me full without feeling like I was overly stuffed. This is not a cheap place to eat, nor is it overly expensive either. If you're looking for a good place to eat for either a special occassion or romantic date, this place is perfect. It has booths, tables and a huge central round table - a la King Arthur's Round Table.

Fortunately the quality of the setting is reflected in the food. Delicious throughout and with some well thought out combinations for parties, this is a great menu and tastes excellent. I have had better Chinese food - which explains the lack of a ***** review - but this is pretty excellent and we've been a few times.

Every time thereafter, however, has been absolutely wonderful. This is not a place to go if you have daddy's credit card and you're looking for rice shaped into perfect rings and designer spice blends. This is a place to go to have a full meal, a mug of hot coffee, and a soda for less than £10. With Chinese offerings that are better and more diverse than any takeaway in Harrogate, supplemented by British classics like sandwiches and full English breakfasts, there is something here for everyone. As a vegetarian, I've never had a problem ordering here. While the veggie menu is a bit small at first glance, the servers and chefs are very accommodating. You can get mixed veg and tofu in almost any sauce. The food is always hot, fresh, and served with a smile. The pice tag is even better. Just in case you missed it the first time, I LOVE Cambridge Cafe.

My Dad, being the fab bloke that he is, drove me home from my Christmas jaunt in the homelands of Gloucestershire, and as such deserved a decent feed. I'd already decided to treat him, but the question was - where to go? Since we didn't wish to trek into town, we opted to head over to Sukhothai after a few at Arcadia. And it's safe to say this was an excellent choice. You get the royal treatment in all of their venues, with beautifully dressed and attentive staff, ready to welcome you in. We were seated and treated to the Christmas menu, which was too tempting not to try. We went for the 'Snowflake' (I think, that or the Santa) which meant sharing three starters, three mains, and a dessert each for £50. Not bad at all. The starters were delicious, with the prawns being beautifully arranged like little birds, and the chicken satay was to die for. I'm not sure what the creamy sauce is that was slathered on them, but it was beautiful! To follow came one of the most delicious coconut and steak curries I've had the pleasure of eating - the steak melted in your mouth, and the flavour of the dish was exquisite. The duck dish was just as lovely, but much spicier, and the chicken (deep fried and breadcrumbed) was equally well made. Basically, all of it was incredible. The range showed a good number of flavours, and it all came in good time - in fact, they checked to see how soon we'd like them to come. I'd no room for the dessert, but they even popped it in a box for us to take home. The staff were all wonderful, and the whole experience was a real treat. We shall be back for certain!

Many people regard this place as the finest Thai joint in Leeds, and it's not hard to see why. The interior is classy but retains that great Thai authenticity through dark carvings and subtle decorations, which lends the restaurant a pleasant, intimate atmosphere. Despite the flawlessness of the décor, environment and service, it is the food that must take the real plaudits. I had the chicken noodle soup (£4) followed by a red curry (£8) and both were insanely flavourful, and the fact that you can wash it all down with genuine Thai beers such as Chang just ices the already impressive cake.
