As a tour group, we were given a free water taxi to the gallery and then back to our hotel after. Initially, I was very excited to learn all about Murano glass and the history of glass making in this country. Unfortunately, that was not the point of our tour. While we did get to see the guys blowing a couple different glass sculptures, our guide was mostly there to convince us to buy. There was no information about the history or where the tradition came from. Instead, it was one big sales pitch.
Yes, the gallery/shop is absolutely beautiful. It's filled with beautiful works of art for every style of collector. But as none of us were looking to spend a couple thousand dollars, we left empty handed.
I wish the gift shop had some little trinkets in an affordable range. But alas, even the small and simple jewelry was pricey. read more
