The place was clean and looked sufficiently oriental to whisk the diner if not to China at least to a curb outside a house owned by people of Chinese decent. Now, the Flaming Dragon chain advertise a fixed price of £5.99 for diners under 16 but what they don't tell you is that you have to have proof that you are under 16 in order to qualify so the 12 and 13 year olds in the group had to pay full price. If you are X-scape and simply must have Chinese then I suppose it will do but if you just need to eat then there are loads of better options. If you have children don't even think about going here.

I've converted quite a few people into fans. I tend to use this place as a takeaway more than an eat in place as its not too far to go and it's cheaper to take it home and eat it. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is a very good standard, far better than most chinese takeaways I've been to but I think that's due to it being a restaurant too which pushes the standard higher. This is a popular place on a weekend so if you're eating in it's probably a good idea to book a table, if you can't get booked in then just order a takeaway. The only downside is they don't do delivery as they are very busy so you have to get it yourself.

This isn't the most convenient Chinese takeaway for where I live so I had never thought to try it…read moreuntil my daughter asked me to. The menu is amazing. All the usual favourites are there but there is so much more. My particular favourite is the Mongolian Lamb curry but The Royale has also introduced me to frogs legs (something I swore I'd never eat) which were delicious. We now use the Royale when there are a lot of us eating as large orders don't seem to faze them, I normally pick up to save on delivery but there have been occasions when laziness happens and I have found the delivery to be very timely. I have noticed that the restaurant always seems empty (it doesn't help that it's so big) and I am now determined to do my bit to fill it as soon as I can by taking the family or friends (or even random friendly people) there for the all you can eat banquet.
