Wood Green, Alexandra Palace

Oh, look at that, I've discovered hell!…read more If your idea of a good time is being surrounded by screaming children, screaming parents and, to be completely blunt here, swarms of dodgy looking people, then Primark in Wood Green is the place for you. I don't like Wood Green which doesn't help the situation but seriously on a weekday afternoon this place is best avoided. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Primani, especially for the basics - PJs, socks, scarves...you know, random shizz, and this store is magnificent in that it's huge and very well stocked, however I can't stand the crowds and the angry scary people who seem to gather here. I did come earlyish one weekday morning and it was a big improvement in that it looks like the scarier types arrive later and I managed to grab what I needed without other people's 'tude slowing me down. That's right, I'm using street talk. Word! Major drawback - I couldn't get a onesie in my size and although my other half has implored me not to get one I simply must! They look so comfy albeit a little creepy. So, in summary: Pro - giant well-stocked Primark with all the fabulous cheapo things you need! Con - you have to go to Wood Green to get to it. I know I sound like a snob, but am I bovvered?

Yes yes, I think this is the first major chain I am reviewing and after hitting 500 reviews I know…read moreyou must all be thinking that I'm running out of great things to write about. This is not the case. I am writing this for the true shoppers out there, who always look for the hottest hints and tips. So this is a brand new Primark store that has opened in Wood Green and it's no normal store, it's the flagship store. Larger than the one on Oxford street and minus the tourist! You heard it here first, there will be no shuffling, pushing or pecking happening in this store. It's positively calm. They have the expertise of the larger store which means that long queues are dealt with quickly. They have more than enough changing rooms and you don't even have to wait! Not only that but they sometimes have small runs of clothing lines that don't get taken by the other stores, so you'll have bought something from Primark that the rest of the world and their mother isn't wearing too. Enjoy and happy shopping!

Crouch End

I had the most amazing experience at Mirror Mirror finding my wedding dress. I came to the boutique…read morelooking for a dress last minute and feeling a bit worried I'd left it too late. Andrea (my consultant) took all my stress away from the moment I came in. We browsed the rails together and found several options - before I slipped on "the one." I have big boobs and had struggled to feel good when trying on dresses at other boutiques but Andrea helped me pick out dresses that worked for my figure and made me feel amazing. Not only did Andrea help style, she also personally altered the sample dress I tried on and it fitted like a glove in time for my August wedding! Throughout our fittings, Andrea also offered me expert advice and tips to do "on the day" to ensure I looked and felt my best coming down the aisle - such as the best way to hold my boutique, look after the dress (which I had to bring over to France) and ways to accessorise to enhance the overall look. I am so grateful she came to my rescue... thank you so much to Andrea and Mirror Mirror for such an amazing 5* experience.

Fortunately I am not having one of those weddings that requires one of these ultra expensive gowns…read morethat you wear for one day and then never again. Mostly I hate wedding gowns! They just make women look like giant cupcakes, covered in lace. However these dresses are rather elegant, I would never wear one but they are nice to look at if you are one of "those" brides. This shop is by appointment only and is not child friendly, they discourage it as politely as they can. They have dresses for skinny and curvy women as well as all the accessories.
