We told the staff we needed stairs work but they brought in a block to work with so we're not impressed. His occupational therapist also expressed his racist views, he will be reported. The food has been terrible and he's not eating and he's losing weight which they keep commenting on. When I visited last week, I was greeted with "You can't come in" which I know, I was dropping off a couple of comfort items. I know that these places are on lock down but the attitude wasn't needed. So, not sure where the quality facilities are but this isn't it.

Like many pregnant women, I had lots of aches and pains in the hips, pelvis, and back, but always left the office feeling better. I know Harborview as the region's best trauma center, and I knew when the call came that I needed to be present because of a situation that it was not a good situation. So, let's keep with the basics. Parking was incredibly easy to find. If I had one concern it was that because there's a few other hospitals were parking isn't convenient. You either end up so far away from the emergency room that the walk over feels like a lifetime or you end up in some convoluted location that it takes an additional ten minutes to find where you are. Harborview offers a variety of parking options from valet to self-park which is incredibly handy. The hospital itself is very clean. I still associate hospitals with very sterile environments - the white walls, the white floor, the bright flourescent lights, the antiseptic smell that permeates the air like a horrid perfume you can't quite escape. So when I see a hospital that tries to break my strong impression I appreciate the small gestures from the light green paint to the chair rail that made the space feel less like an institute and slightly more inviting. I found the emergency waiting room and check-in process to be a little confusing. When you're a visitor and trying to get in and find out status all the different stations can be a bit daunting. I never ended up at any of these stations because the social worker quickly found the waiting group and we were eventually taken to the ICU. The social worker was great. Patient, soft spoken, understanding she helped the process immensely. I do not envy her job. The ICU was nice. The waiting area was conveniently laid out so that groups of people could gather comfortably without rearranging furniture. They were testing out a new system that I guess will one day give status of different rooms so you can check if your particular person is in their room, in surgery, or any other number of statuses. The nurses were patient and kind. I know everyone has different experiences and going to the hospital in any capacity - unless you work there - is never going to be pleasant. I appreciated the attentiveness that Harborview showed us that day and the kindness that they offered.

My father died of death induced by dehydration after having had a stroke and then administered medication that we told the staff he could not take. The medication made him a vegetable. So, we watched him dehydrate to death and had the topper of a chief nurse yelling at my father and pinching him so hard she dug her nails into his skin and made this traumatized man weep! She did this in front of family members and they were horrified and traumatized by her behavior as a result. This occurred all in the highly acclaimed neuro unit. Then, when my father would not die fast enough they transferred him to the most disgusted, urine soaked nursing home from hell where he finally died of dehydration the next day. Pure hell!!! It was a nightmare that I wish on no one! I often hear that harborview is so spectacular but, that must have been some time in the past or for others. This is the second family member I've had die under their experimental care by juvenile doctors. In my experience, this institution is a pathetic, embarrassing, scourge on the face of medicine! Be warned! Beware!

She is a real asset to Kaiser Bellevue. Edit - 12/18/24 - I know many people probably have had their own experiences but I have been blown away by how my problem has been handled. After my great experience yesterday, today I was helped by Stephanie Cunningham from Kaiser Tacoma. She called me several times, sent me messages and went above and beyond to help with my issue with my new prescription which has to be administered in a hospital setting. But the still charge for parking. Kick people while their down? good job. I had to get a regular IV infusion medication on one particular visit last year (2025). They had just moved this particular type of infusion away from the dept that does infusions regularly, and instead was doing it family medicine, where they were not equipped at a basic level (I had to sit in an uncomfortable exam chair, or maybe it was table set to incline, with no armrests or anything. I felt like I was going to fall out of it the entire time. They definitely didn't have people experienced with infusions in family medicine. The nurse who jabbed me decided to start on the backside of my hand first? without even asking where I normally get my IV's or blood drawn. She tried twice and failed and it caused much pain while she was fishing around in my boney hand.. Why anyone would try to start an IV in my hand first before my arm makes no sense. I have good veins. I donate blood regularly and nobody has any trouble finding a vein. This nurse had to get another person to start the IV, because they have a 2-strikes and you're out rule. The next nurse who seemed to have actual experience used my arm and got it on the first try, without any more needless pain. After they started the IV and left me, I should say abandoned me, I looked up and realized they had not hung saline along with the medication. This medication can put an unusually hard load on the kidneys and is normally administered with additional saline so the kidneys aren't overwhelmed and damaged. Since nobody was in earshot or even in the room with me, I dragged the IV stand as far as I could without disconnecting it from the dosage metering device so I could reach a faucet and try and drink some water so there would be more fluid in my system so I might have functioning kidneys later. Not a good experience at all. There was literally blood dripping from my hand still from the failed attempts to find a vein in my hand. On another visit for work related injury I saw an occupational medicine doctor. He knew what he was doing. I like that guy. Too bad I don't plan to get injured at work again. I had an eye exam here. Almost in the same sentence the doctor told me he was retiring and wouldn't available ever again and, by the way you have cataracts now. Okay, that was kinda rude. Oh yeah, my most recent visit to get some imaging done there. the receptionist in that area handed me a clipboard with a questionnaire to fill out. I told her I had already done the same questionnaire online via the app already, and she said very rudely that I still had to do it by hand because the radiologist can't see online questionnaire. OK, what is the point of doing the online questionnaire then? hmm. what else..oh yeah, if you need care on a weekend and are coughing your lungs out and don't want to sit in urgent care waiting room for hours you can do an "E-Visit" theoretically. Except when you try to start the e-visit online, it doesn't recognize "cough" as a symptom and won't let you go any further. seriously? how bad is this system? oh and lastly, every single doctor at KP will ask if they can use a "dictation" application use another euphemism. Say NO! It's an A.I. bot that records you and your responses so they don't actually have to listen to you as a patient. Shame on KP for trying to disguise an A.I. app and not being truthful about it...in the name of cost saving, not good patient care.
