Granted I only have had one appointment, Jonathan and Grace have been fantastic. I originally called them to help with some pheripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet from a side effect of chemotherapy. The appointment was during the pandemic and they were safe and I felt safe. They explained everything very well and after the appointment I felt relaxed and healthier! I wasn't able to go to my next appointment due to some other side effects from my cancer treatment and then had surgery soon after. I came to Sandra having been to two other acupuncturists. I was having issues getting appointments with each of the other two acupuncturists and I realized that I had her card (a referral from someone else). From day one, Sandra Lee was head and shoulders above the other two acupuncturists. I can't believe I wasted so much money on the other two! She is professional, knowledgable, communicative, caring, thorough, uses excellent technique, and has a great bedside manner. I truly believe she genuinely cares about the wellbeing of her patients. She spent 1 1/2 hours with me during my first appointment. She literally interrogated me about my situation, leaving no stone unturned. She asked me about my family history, symptoms going back months and months. I have short term memory and a couple of times she called me out, "but, you said x and what you're saying now doesn't correspond" -- oops! Shows how thorough she is right? Back in the day I had nonexistent or very very long cycle periods. We're talking 50+ days or not at all, due to hormonal imbalance and low estrogen. I spent many months getting acupuncture on a weekly basis and taking the herbal supplements she custom mixed for me. Now, guess what? My cycle is pretty consistently at 30-34 days. I completely give Sandra all the credit. She has a fantastic memory and always remembers what was going on with me the last time, or even months ago.... she actually remembers more than I myself do!! She's a great ally. The treatment itself is actually very relaxing. If you are scared of needles, not to worry. I wouldn't be surprised if Sandra had some kind of special concoction or methodology to eliminate that fear! The needles themselves are about the size of a hair follicle and you can barely feel them going in -- well, except for the ones that she inserts in fingers, there just ain't much meat & fat there!! Earlier this year, I knew I needed to do something about my health. Working in a hospital, I knew if I didn't take care of these health issues now in my 30s, I could seriously run into major problems later on that I may not be able to bounce back from. I had heard about my father's experiences with acupuncture a few years back, but I didn't know about any one presently going to sessions. When I met Grace, I was actively going through major respiratory problems. My asthma attacks were getting worse, even hitting me when I was just walking up a little hill. I suspected I had sleep apnea. I had just totaled my car from passing out. My menstrual cycles were all out of whack. I was a mess. But over the course of these past few months, I feel that although I haven't done a complete 180degree turn, I am well on my way to being the healthiest I can be. Her first sessions focused on opening up my lungs, making my breathing much better. Once that got a little better, now it went to tackling balancing my hormones. All of it resulted in me now using my steroid inhaler sparingly, my menstrual cycle regular without the use of any hormone medications, and with what I suspect is the result of hormone balance, less inflammation in my body and even some weight loss (with the help of more energy to be more active and eating well!). Grace encourages you to pair up these sessions with regular medical care and good nutrition. Amazing Grace. I have been going to Grace for post pregnancy aches and pains- most specifically my back. I was stuck in a low energy rut and she is helping me come out of it. Not sure what it is about acupuncture but each session is a like a wave of fresh air. My back feels much better and my energy level is higher. I am an avid tennis player and have suffered multiple knee injuries over the years. In addition, I have circulation issues due from clots. After yet another tennis knee injury, (left) I discovered the acupuncture services of Jonathan and Grace in Lafayette. I am happy to report in just a few sessions of strategic acupuncture placement; my knee pain has fully subsided allowing me to quickly get back on the courts at full speed. I had been having knee issues for about a month before going into the doctor as Kaiser. After a few X-rays, the doctor said I had fluid in my knee and that I had two options: rest and hope for the best, or surgery. My coach then recommended that I go to acupuncture since it helped him with his same meniscus injury. Jonathan at New Life was able to get me in the same day, and after four sessions with Grace, I have full range of motion, am able to squat without pain, and am able to do my normal workouts as prescribed without scaling. Grace and Jonathan were beyond helpful and never tried to up-sell me. They told me what I needed to do to get back to Crossfit, and didn't try to book appointment after appointment just to drive profits. I came to Sandra to help me through IVF treatments. I had ovarian cysts and I hoped to keep them from getting larger as I went through the stimulation phase. Of course, I also hoped to become pregnant without too many negative side effects of all the hormones and emotions. Sandra really came through for me on multiple levels. I was so grateful during out first meeting that she gave me a whole specific plan, explaining each piece so I understood the necessity. It was a pretty intense dietary change, but I stuck to it and felt amazingly balanced. I even lost weight despite the hormonal therapy I was on. (Added, unexpected bonus:) I became pregnant with twins :) She helped me through the challenging first trimester and kept encouraging me not to feel guilty about being too tired to keep up with the usual workload. Sandra was so supportive throughout the whole challenging 4 months. What I appreciate most about Sandra is her clear approach and non-judgmental, totally accepting attitude. I also was suffering headaches from a disc herniation in my neck when I first came to her. As a result of some stretching, breathing and movement changes she taught me, I have been pain free ever since! I had a serious leg injury this past March which resulted in requiring surgery, intensive recovery and limited weight bearing for 12 weeks. I truly feel like I owe a lot to Grace and Jonathan in my speedy recovery and pain management. I was a pessimist, after having gone to an acupuncturist 8 years ago with negative experiences. I walked away from that experience with unusual tingling in my foot that lasted for a month due to an improperly placed needle. I was completely new to acupuncture, and they gladly fit me into their schedule when other acupuncture clinics turned me away. They even came into the office on a day they weren't working to treat me for my embryo transfer. They treated me not only through my IVF, but during my whole pregnancy. Jonathan and Grace are the most patient, gentle, and kind people I know. I always receive a warm welcome whenever I visit them. This is like no other medical treatment I have ever experienced before. Grace and Jonathan deliver an incredibly effective pain management treatment program. Not only has it been extremely effective in reducing the amount of arthritic pain in my body, but also the total experience is very relaxing and leaves me feeling rejuvenated and very thankful bordering on the emotional at the end of each session. I definitely give them a 5+++ rating and would recommend them to anyone who has chronic pain that western medicine hasn't been able to remediate or would like to avoid various western medications and their associated side effects as I was trying to do. I was quite skeptical about the idea of seeing an acupunturist at first, but my pain was such that I was willing to try anything to alleviate it. Success didn't come overnight, but it did come. I began to notice a difference after about 4-6 treatments and have seen them for a total of 25 sessions so far. If 100% is normal, then I was at 30% of normal when I began the sessions and they have helped me achieve 85-90% of normalcy. Needless to say, I wouldn't continue the program if wasn't effective. My issue is arthritis, which is impacting most of my body. It's a side effect from a medication I have to take and so I will be continuing my acupuncture sessions for the foreseeable future. For those of you who are interested, my treatment consists of acupuncture, which includes about 20 minutes of rest on a massage table once the needles have been placed accompanied by some very soothing music, then the needles are removed. This is followed by cupping and finally a massage. I'm also taking a mix of herbs twice a day that they mixed for me which are designed to help me with my underlying issues. According to Grace and Jonathan, depending on your issues your treatment may differ. The whole process end to end can take up to an hour and half. read more
