Her first available appointment was 4 weeks out, but I shrugged it off knowing I'd be booking in advance for regular facials anyway. The day of my facial I was rear ended on the freeway literally on my way to the appointment, so I called her to cancel, still shaking from the accident (both cars were totaled) but apologetic that I had to cancel so last minute. She wasn't very sympathetic even though I was audibly tearful, but whatever she's not my mom, I don't need warm and fuzzy. When I called to reschedule after things had resolved with the accident she had no upcoming availability and made no attempt to accommodate me. Fine, she doesn't know me, for all she knows I made the whole thing up. I rescheduled for 5 weeks later, the earliest availability. She said she'd put me on a cancellation list, and in the 5 weeks I received no call. Today, the day of my appointment, she texted to tell me she was cancelling citing broken equipment. She instructed me to rebook online, and what do you know, no openings for another month. I texted her, inquiring if there was any way I could get in sooner since my first appointment over 2 months ago at this point also had to be cancelled due to the accident. She again offered the cancellation list and referred me back to her online scheduler. At this point there have been multiple good faith assumptions on my part and I'm very disappointed she made no attempt to accommodate me. I feel like she doesn't want my business. Maybe because I purchased a Groupon, maybe because of my completely unavoidable first reschedule, I dunno. In any case I requested a refund from Groupon and applied it to another aesthetician who was happy to book me. These Groupons offer an immediate cash pile to people - maybe ensuring they can't book means you never have to provide a service? In any case, buyer beware.

Cristine was very gracious about me being 15 minutes late for the appointment, and we agreed to just cut it short instead of rescheduling. That was nice. However, the experience itself was neither relaxing or refreshing. I'm used to near-silence during facials and that was not the case this time. The office is just that - an office, with little spa-like ambiance, and she was a bit chatty compared to other people who've given me facials. I'm used to people asking me what types of cleansers and makeup I use, and that was not the case. I'm also used to people asking if I'm allergic to anything (I'm not, but she didn't ask). At the end of the facial she used this seaweed mask on my face, which smelled awful (but I'm sure was very nutritious for my skin), and covered my face with an uncomfortable aluminum foil tent (!) while the mask set. Instead of stepping out of the room while this was doing its thing, she sat in the room and read a magazine (or something). It was an awkward experience. Sorry, DragonTree. I'll never do that to you again.

When I saw a groupon for an express pineapple facial, I jumped on it. Although the results were decent, no better or worse than an average facial, I was less than satisfied with the experience. The aesthetician seemed skilled but distracted and the experience itself was disappointing. My appointment lasted approximately 45 minutes and she left the room 3 times, which she said this was to "let me relax". When she was in the room, she seemed to be in a rush to put the product on my face and leave again. Though I've never had a facialist leave the room during the treatment or appear so rushed, I sort of went with it to a point until the third time where she made a phone call that I could clearly hear through the wall. Based on this experience and 2 other spa experiences where I had used a groupon and had less than stellar experience, I can't help but wonder if coming in with a groupon gets your crappy service. It's a shame because I only buy groupons for places I would return to if I have a good experience. Some people may not care about having a relaxing experience with an attentive aesthetician and I would recommend it to those folks because the results were alright and the spa uses green products. I personally wouldn't return though and am disappointed because I really wanted to love this place.
