The grass grows so well that it outcompetes the weeds, and even without herbicides, we don't have many weeds. Everyone was super friendly, responsive, and professional. My husband described the crew as working as if they were working on their own yard because they were taking such care. We will be using this service now on an ongoing basis, for weekly mowing, seasonal clean-up, pruning, etc., and for whatever else comes up! We live on a decent size lot, an acre, and the yard and beds, shrubs, etc., had not been maintained for a long time, prior owner made some bad selections, etc. So, this was a big job. Removed 10 ENORMOUS shrubs, installed dozens of new plants/trees, huge spring clean up, installed 21 cubic yards of mulch, weed preventative, created overall landscape design, relocated some existing shrubs, used existing field stones to create perimeter for beds. Plus, willing to go extra mile to do extras that I did not expect, like removing tree limbs that needed removal either because of pre-existing damage or for health of tree. Update: the original review was written about 18 months ago. We continue to use Princeton Lawn and Landscapes for all our lawn and landscape needs. We continue to be very happy and highly recommend them to everyone! Tom continues to go above and beyond to make sure we are happy with any of the work his team does for us.

Joe promised, and Joe delivered…read more When my wife and I moved out of Brooklyn and bought our home in East Brunswick, we fell in love with all the landscaping the previous owners meticulously put in. Our property felt like a botanical garden, far exceeding the standard run-of-the-mill landscaping jobs you see in most neighborhoods. What I didn't realize at the time was how completely unprepared I was to maintain this level of landscaping. Even after renewing the previous owners' contract with Broehl's (the local gold standard for lawn care and maintenance) there was still too much to do. Unfortunately, I have a black thumb for this kind of thing, and there's only so many checks I can afford to write to try and keep things looking good. So for the past few years my wife and I have actually invested money in scaling *back* some of the landscaping; essentially ripping out and replacing some of the more complicated beds that have steadily been beat on over the last few brutal winters and didn't look good any more. When we met with Joe, we were clear that we wanted nice-looking beds, but nothing that would be over-the-top difficult to care for and maintain. And we wanted clear sight lines down our front yard so we could see our kids playing in the street. The overall amount of work we need to do to get our property where we really want it is pretty staggering, so Joe discussed a phased plan that would allow us to get started without breaking the bank. Long story short, he and his crew ripped out the mess of bushes and plants and undergrowth that marked the front and center portion of our lawn. He designed a simple, but elegant bed that he said would look great but wouldn't be impossible to maintain. He took photos of our property in advance, and then simulated his recommended design over the photos via computer, allowing us to "see" what it would look like before we'd have to commit. As you can see from the photos, Joe and his crew did a great job. My wife and I couldn't be happier with the work. We get a ton of compliments on the before and after. (Unfortunately I didn't take pictures of the before, but trust me -- this was a huge leap forward.) Truth be told, you're really at a disadvantage if you cannot do at least some of your own landscaping. Professional landscaping is expensive -- plain and simple. And frankly, I hate paying for it. But as I said in my previous review, Joe is a no-nonsense, honest businessman. If, as the saying goes, a man is only as good as his word, Joe is a good man. He and his crew are completely professional and do great work at a very competitive price. Just look at the photos and see the work for yourself. And feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to learn more.

Exceptional Work and Even Better People - Villeda Hardscaping…read more I hired Villeda Hardscaping for a series of projects at my home -- including repairing a retaining wall, resurfacing the side of my house, installing two patios, reroofing a garage, and a number of smaller jobs -- and I can honestly say they exceeded my expectations at every turn. Not only was the quality of their work outstanding, but they were also incredibly responsive, easy to work with, and genuinely understanding throughout the entire process. I brought up what I thought was an issue during the project -- it turned out I was mistaken -- but they addressed it professionally and without any attitude, just patience and clarity. I also had to make some last-minute changes, and they handled those with no drama at all -- just a can-do attitude and a focus on making sure I was happy. I'll admit: when I first saw their very reasonable pricing, I was skeptical. It seemed almost too good to be true. But I had been referred by a close friend who vouched for them, and I'm so glad I listened. Their work speaks for itself, and they did not disappoint. If you're looking for quality craftsmanship, fair pricing, and a crew that treats you with respect and honesty, Villeda Hardscaping should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended.

When I lived in…read moreDoylestown many years ago, I had a "neighbor from hell" and needed something to block them, but inexpensive. They knew exactly what would do the trick, and offered other suggestions also. A few years ago I bought a short sale that had overgrown gardens (Picture the infamous "Grey Gardens"/ Hamptons. Similar state of overgrowth from lack of attention over years.) Corner property- so lots of gardens. On a tight budget with rehabbing, I stuck with big box hardware store for most plantings. But, when in a quandry as to "will it survive?" and "why is it dieing (and replaced every year)? Kirshners knowledge is top notch! You can't get that at a big box store. Priceless. And the plants/ trees/ bushes are very healthy at Kirshners. What I really like is the customer service. Upon pulling into the property, they instinctively know to let you look around for awhile before approaching. Impeccable timing. They are eager to help, though not overbearing. They LISTEN to your concerns, issues, preferences. The owner (I think- he's always there, and always on the move, but never too busy to put the customer first) is such a pleasure! I understand that they have huge accounts, both commercial and residential. But I get incredible service with my 1-4 plant purchases. If I ever have a large project (if I ever hit the lottery! LOL!), Kirshners will be my first stop for major work of patios and ponds and fountains. For now, I just so enjoy absorbing the vast amount of information I receive from Kirshners with my small purchases.
