On the main road between Oldbury and Blackheath, just outside the latter's town centre is the New Inn. This, like a lot of pubs in the area, is a deceptively small pub with a decent sized bar area (big enough to fit a pool table in - which is good because that's what they've done) and a small lounge.
The tele was showing the tennis, so I sat at the bar with half a mind on the crossword and one eye on the match. There were a handful of people in - one of whom was drinking something that looked decidedly like a snakebite. The prices were good and the tables were clean; the decor was modern and the gaffer was friendly.
There's a sizeable car park out the back and a small area to sit and have a fag. Not really a place to make a journey to, but a nice little one for those in walking distance or passing and fancying a quick pint. read more
