SCPA has received a lot of honors and awards, and is recognized as one of the top in the state, for good reason! When I attended back in 2016-2017, they sent out an email to parents telling their kids not to be friends with me. What kind of establishment does that? The bullying from the children was bad, but the adults? Far worse. Ms Bailey and Mr O were the worst. I just checked their staff list and Mr O, better known as Curtis Olufson still works here. Curtis would constantly pull me into his office for the smallest infractions and would come up to me in the hallways and lobby with accusatory behavior when I wasn't doing anything wrong. Curtis, since I'm now an adult and can speak to you as one. Screw you. You made my school life hell. I hope that you have changed as a person, since I was a student under you but I doubt it. I sincerely hope that you are not making other students feel the way you made me feel. Parents please be aware of him and ask your students their opinion on him to make sure he isn't targeting them.

Covid shut down for second grade didn't help either. He attended a different private school for third grade, but it didn't fit his needs. But they did help us discover that he had a problem with his eyes and needed eye therapy in order to be able to read. I was very concerned that he had missed the formative years of foundational, reading and writing. This is what led us to Groves. Most of his teachers have been spectacular every year. Extremely nurturing and encouraging. He's made huge strides in reading and writing. He now has so much more confidence and feels very comfortable at the school. The teachers are very communicative with parents. Also, the speech and language tutoring has been very helpful as well. If your child has issues with reading and writing, literacy, and executive functioning, I highly recommend Groves. I am so grateful for this school. They are doing very important work there and helping so many kids.

Swim Meet Review!!…read more Edina Gators and Southview Middle School = GOOD JOB. Are you coming here for a swim meet? Things to know = the parking lot is small. There's a second lot on the east side of the school, and you can follow a path alongside the south side of the school to get back to the pool entrance. You can also park in the neighborhood. I've been to all sorts of meets here, smaller one session novice style, four session two day invitationals, and post season meets. They always seem to have a solid snack bar going, with real meal options like walking tacos and fresh fruit and baked goods and coffee, not jsut candy and gatorade. There are tables for people to sit at when your kid isnt swimming. (A gym too, but that's pretty typical) The building has a few nooks that you can walk to if you want to get away from all noise. There is a decent amount of seating. They sell programs, if youre into that. (Sometimes this means the program is not available online. Meh. I can work with that)
