I had to interact with a several of the staff and they were all very nice and I loved how they treat all the students with a lot of respect and patience. Since I was rushing I left my car lights on and my car battery died. When I came back to my car and noticed that my car wouldn't turn on I walked to the security gate and told them about my dilemma. Right away they send someone to help me and give my car a boost. They were so nice and made sure my car was fine before they left. All the "supports" they offer are at the most inconvenient times for working parents. Questioning the staff or leadership is met with silence. Nothing changes until you threaten to report them to the state.

The small class size allows for very individualized attention. He is (like many of the students) an uneven learner. He reads and does math way above grade level, but needs help with writing and expressive language (but some children have more typical learning difficulties). Each family is assigned a social worker to meet with on a regular basis, and the social workers also go into the classrooms to work on social skills through "friendship" and "games" groups. There is a "black & white" notebook that goes back and forth every day, providing a means of valuable communication between the teachers and parents. He has met some great friends here, and there is a warm parent community. We can speak freely with each other about our children's "issues" - we're all in this together! So happy we found this little gem of a school! P.S. The Parents' Association hosts a wonderful lecture series on a variety of topics, mostly concerning special needs children.

He has a language d/o, auditory processing d/o, ADD, social pragmatic communication d/o, and a reading d/o. Christine helped my son improved in every area. She worked on his executive function, pragmatics, and reading issues. In the 5th grade, my son had a grade level of 1.8 in reading comprehension and a grade level of 3.4 in Math problem solving on WISC-V. After working with Christine for 1.5 yr, his reading score was in low average decoding and fluency range, and average Math problem solving on the Woodcock-Johnson achievement test. BOE considers low average as average. On Terra Nova test, his Reading was in the 73%, and in Language 66% from 18% (low average 25% to high average 75%). My son is a now a social butterfly!!
