It costs about £3 per load for a coin-operated machine (£3.20 for a large machine) and more for service washes which you can leave and collect already dried and packed in a bag. There's a spinning machine, which is useful for getting the excess moisture out of the heavy items before drying (20p per spin cycle). The drying machines are relatively new and cost 20p for about 4 minutes, so it can cost up to £2 to dry a load of washing, depending on how heavy it is and whether you've put it in the spinner first. Very handy to have locally when your washing machine is bust (and apparently it's supposed to be more environmentally friendly to share resources like these).

But although it makes sense in theory to combine the two trips, in practice it isn't half knackering doing laundry and grocery shopping in the same afternoon and you may need a long recovery period if you try it! Also, it is up a hill, so bear in mind the physical exertion required to carry a load of washing up there (or else invest in a trolley!). It gets bl*y hot in this launderette, if you're sitting around waiting for stuff to dry, so be prepared to take your coat off. But the Indian lady who runs the place and does the service washes is very helpful and friendly, and the place is often full, despite the machines being quite old!

But bring a bag of wet clothes here and they'll dry and fold it from £3 a bag! Towels and sheets start from around £4 but that's still a bargain for me as I usually bring two to three loads of mixed laundry from my huge 9kg washing machine, which they service dry for around £6 to £8. My laundry is seperated, tumble dried, folded and ready to pick up on the same day. Usually within a couple of hours in fact. Fantastic!

This is perfect for me because as you may have noticed from my other reviews, I buy a lot of vintage and although I have my own sewing machine, if something is really nice I wouldn't dare to alter it myself. They generally get things done in a day so if you find the perfect dress, but it's slightly musty and the wrong length, they can have it ready for an outing either that very evening or latest the next day. The last time I went in with a pink silk dress and had it dry cleaned, a little stain removed and taken up for £15, absolute bargain considering it only cost a tenner in the first place.

I gave…read morethem a burberry trench coat that had some wine stains on it and as I was going abroad the next day I asked them for their same day service. I told them about the stains and how I needed it urgently. They told me that I can collect it later the same day. Unlike other dry cleaners they did not try to charge me more just because I brought an expensive coat or because I was in hurry, infact they gave me the cheapest rates and there I was, paying less then I planned to pay and the stains were gone. From then onwards I've been using their services regularly and I must say, they are very friendly and genuine people.
