Wow! Thats the…read morefirst world that springs to mind, and is by far THE BEST Chinese Restaurant I have been to bar none. When first seeing the outside of the building you are greeted with a oriental themed front, with an overhanding roof and two guard lions outside. Once through the double doors you come across a cozy layout, with roughly 8-10 tables of varying sizes. Not a huge place the layout used to comply with a local public house, however the decor is great with glowing red windows (obviously behind a fake wall) and great decoration throughout. Seating is ample and the ambiance isn't overpowering. Service Is great, the people are helpful and attentive without being too nosy or prying... which on occasion is a fine balance. Drinks were offered as soon as we sat down and menus handed out without a fuss. Food This is sit down buffet style menu though please don't be put off with the word 'buffet'. Your meals are all freshly prepared and served to you as you would a traditional restaurant. For £13.95 per head you get ample choice of starters and main courses. Myself I have tried almost everything on the menu (not in one visit!) and I absolutely love: Crispy Seaweed (Fried cabbage usually) Barbecue Ribs Salt and Chilli Ribs - vegetarian option - the vegetable mix with lettuce wrap. Oh and the soups are great too: The Crab meat and sweetcorn soup is my fav Main courses are all what you would expect with the addition of Thia Cuisine too. Again I loved: Garlic and Chilli King Prawns with Egg Fried Rice ( Prawns are butterflied) In conclusion if your in the area this is a great place to go and well worth a visit! p.s. limited parking at the front, otherwise parking is on the street which can be busy at times.

Definitely a fan, especially given the fact that decent Chinese food is difficult to find in this…read morearea of England. This restaurant has been around for ages, even earning accolades such as Gordon Ramsey's Best Chinese Eatery. However, management has apparently changed and the owners fell on hard times recently. You can't really tell the restaurant has had problems, however. The food was excellent when we went and the service was outstanding. We ordered the tasting menu, as we'd never been to Yu & You before and wanted to try a bit of everything. Prices are a bit high for the area, so maybe save this place for a date night. There is a full bar and plenty of dishes to choose from. I think our favorite dish was the lobster, but honestly everything was lovely. We had a lot of extra food as well, so it was nice to take our leftovers to-go for a cold Chinese food breakfast in the morning ;) Definitely recommend this location for those in the area. The food is high-quality and it's a fun place to celebrate or spend time with friends and loved ones!

We came along to try the place as it had won Gordon Ramsay's Chinese Restaurant of the year 2010…read more The restaurant was quite busy, mainly because of a large party group. The overall impression is that it is over-staffed by young inexperienced staff. As a consequence basic service is very good, but if you ask a question, they have to go and get an elder to sort it out. The menu was rather uninformative: there are only three pork main dishes for example but only one gets a description Honey Roasted Char Sui Pork served with fresh greens. We ordered Thai Style Crispy Pork (no further description). What we got was something that looked remarkably like sweet and sour pork with extra chilli. Four of us had a selection of appetisers (Crispy Wan Ton, Seaweed, Sesame Prawn Toast, Salt & Pepper Ribs); Crispy Duck with 11 pancakes (doesn't divide by 4); Thai Style Crispy Pork, Fillet Steak Cantonese Style, Stir Fried Chicken with Black Bean sauce, Egg Fried Rice and Soft Noodles. The dishes were all tasty, but some of the vegetables were perhaps a little under-cooked: almost raw. Again the service was good: they allowed us to change Steamed Sea Bass for Thai Style Crispy Pork, and allowed us to change the Egg Fried Rice to a mixture of rice and Soft Noodles. The food was good, not the best Chinese I've ever had, but definitely amongst the best: my problem is the cost. I don't know if it has gone up since winning the Restaurant of the Year accolade, but it is certainly very dear now. The winning menu is available which includes a Wagyu (a.k.a. Kobe) beef dish and costs £80 per head. We chose something more modest: the above banquet for four people, a bottle of water and a relatively modest bottle of wine came to a substantial £170+ bill. Individual dishes don't seem too dear, but it all seems to add up rather alarmingly. The restaurant has a slight night-club feel with a large bar area and strange choice of background music and a good sized car park. Overall: a good meal, copious inexperienced staff, expensive bill. If it was better value it would be 4*, as it is three will have to do.
