My wife and I had the Chicken Masala, a chicken curry dish, a cauliflower potato veggie, and a coconut and almond naan- Peshwari Naan. And it was all excellent. Give this restaurant a chance. They have friendly, great service with delicious food. It was a welcome change from the "typical" English food that we had eaten while in London.

Why did we wait so long? The decor insode is flush with blue and purple soft lighting and drapes, the waiters were very polite and straight on hand to help with your every need. The menu, well, we'd promised it was a quick bite but starters, mains sides and a forced down desert argued with that one (doggie bags for the left over mains were a life saver!). A range of unusual chefs specials suitable for both veggies and meat eaters alongside the standard brummie curry choices (dopiaza, rogan josh, tikka, bhuna etc...) meant we needed an extra 10 minutes to narrow it down from one of everything on the menu to what we actually wanted! As a sample menu example my choices consisted of: poppadums with mango chutney, mint yoghurt, lime pickle and tomato chilli mixed tikka starter for one Keema meatball curry with extra green chillies (just wow!) garlic pilau rice cheese and chilli naan and a pistachio kulfi to finish (only because we could, there was no room left at this point!) Cobra and Tiger beers were readily available alongside a small selection of spirits. A repeat trip may well be needed to sample the mango lassi here (I'm sure there will be no complaints if the rest of the experience is as good as this vist was)

The food is too die for, it has a fairly typical Indian menu but some amazing Bangladeshi dishes and chef's specials. The chef will also make bespoke dishes to your requirements if requested. The prices are also amazing, you can get a 4 course meal for 2 for about 35 quid. The staff are friendly and helpful and will bend over backwards to make your visit to the outskirts of Brum worth it. The interior is modern and bright, although the toilets are a little dark. For group booking I would recommend phoning ahead and booking a table, but for groups of less than 5 you can just rock up and normally get seated straight away (unless it's a Friday). Thania Spice isn't licensed, so bring your own alcohol, it does serve soft drinks and coffee. The only reason I've given it 4 stars not 5 is because there is no disabled access, the restaurant is on the first floor above a shop. My top tip: On Tuesday and Thursday, you can get a 4 courses (popadoms, starter, main, rice/naan, coffee) for 8quid!! Bargain!

He chose the Chicken Laknavi, and Jane chose the Chicken Pasanda. Everything was nicely spiced - heat but still flavor. Portions were generous - we probably only needed half as much, but we couldn't resist all the flavors. We were treated to a drink afterwards with our bill, and Bailey's was a perfect digestif with the chocolate. On our way out, we were given a 2019 calendar as a holiday present. I'm looking forward to another delicious and friendly meal when I'm back in Oxford!

Soft fish with that spice and a crunchy breadcrumb was fusion British cuisine at its best. Two of the diners I was with had the king prawns which I also tried, also delicious! He prawns were so tender and sweet, impressive cooking. For mains I had a mixed curry, paspuran Korahi, prawn, lamb and chicken in a tomato sauce. Medium spiced it was delicious. Add a bottle of wine and it was a great evening.
