I spent over a year trying to get Dr. Dybro to take seriously my complaints of menstrual irregularity with extreme pain during menstruation. I was in my 30s, young for perimenopause. I thought I might have endometriosis. She thought I had PCOS, which test results did not support. She stood by her diagnosis because she discriminated against my body type--I have always had visceral body fat, as do most people in my family. It's our genetics. She couldn't see past that and was counseling me to develop an eating disorder: things she actually told me: "Maybe you should stop eating fruit" when I told her I was already eating a low-glycemic diet, and "It's pretty normal for women your age to be in pain." Eventually I prevailed and got an ultrasound. It showed that I had endometrial cancer. I needed emergency surgery, but I luckily caught it before it had spread to other organs. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I hadn't kept fighting for appropriate care. I started going to this clinic because I heard they were queer friendly. That may be, but they need to seriously hold Dr. Dybro accountable for rampant fatphobia (I was a size 14 at the time of treatment, I can't even imagine how larger people were treated). No one else should live with excruciating pain that turns out to be cancer for over a year because she thinks they're just eating too much fruit and their pain is "normal."

Generations Midwifery checked all these boxes and more! Andy and Terri, along with a team of amazing student midwives, made me feel safe, heard, loved, and respected. They helped me feel empowered and confident in myself, my pregnancy, and my baby's birth. I knew without a doubt that my family, baby, and I were all being supported by a community of exceptional women, who genuinely cared about our physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Andy and Terri were always available to ease my mind and problem solve any worries or concerns we might've had both before and after my baby was born. To have such gentle, confident guidance made an already monumental moment that much more special, and a tremendous transition that much less daunting. My dreams came true when my daughter was born into a serene space, surrounded by strong, smart, caring women! We absolutely love our midwives, and feel honored to have shared this journey with them!

Their holistic approach during my pregnancy made me feel so comfortable. I felt so prepared for my home birth & so comfortable having them in my home to support my family. In postpartum, I felt so cared for when they only not checked up on our baby, but also checked in so much with my healing & mental health. Terri especially made my husband & I feel so comfortable throughout the entire experience since she could relate to our Asian identities. We really appreciated that. I cannot recommend them enough & know I will be in the right hands for my next pregnancy!

How many stars would you give to a person who hand held you through one of the most difficult,…read moreintense, and mind blowing experiences of your life? Too bad Yelp maxes you out at only five. I knew I wanted Amber to be my doula right away, it was amazing how much at ease I felt knowing she'll be there when I need her. Months later I called Amber in a panic at 40+ weeks pregnant after my doctor mentioned induction for the first time. I always envisioned having an all natural birth and staying at home for as long as possible before transferring to a hospital, so the mention of pitocin really scared the s..t out of me. Amber calmed me down and offered to give me her magical Mayan massage. I started feeling contractions on my way home from her massage and was in full labor just hours after. Through the whole labor Amber's voice was the thin line connecting me to the reality and telling me I'm doing great. Every time I opened my eyes Amber was there, always knowing when to reassure me, when to push me, and when to keep quiet. My husband was there, ready to support me and do everything he could to help, but you really need someone with experience to guide you through l&d. Husbands cannot replace doulas!!! And if all of that was not enough Amber manages to take amazing pictures of the baby's arrival and of our first moments together as a family of three. I get to relieve that experience every time I look at the pictures now. I could not have done it without Amber, cannot recommended her enough!

I have experienced both her Mayan Abdominal Massage and her natural fertility class, and am deeply grateful to her for both. She has taught me so much about how to look after my own reproductive health in a way that feels empowering rather than patronising. She helped me totally reframe what is possible in terms of knowing my own cycle, birth control, family planning, and acting to take control of it without hormones, devices in my body, and so on. Amber is one of my top five practitioners of all time (and I see a lot). Even if you don't understand why you might need an Abdominal Massage, or a class on your own fertility, I would advise going anyway, if you resonate with any of the following: You feel a need to take back your body from the medical model You feel grief around how you or others have treated your body in the past You want to have a baby, and want to feel more connected to your body/baby, and/or would like an unmedicated birth You have had a baby and experienced any physical/emotional discomfort during pregnancy, birth or the postpartum time You want to feel witnessed by your women's healthcare provider, and are not receiving that from your OBGYN or other providers You suspect that there is wisdom in your body, that you are yet to discover As you can tell, I can't say enough about how wonderful Amber is. Her work in the world is such a service to all women, and I'm so grateful she was born.

I did not have a back-up plan because I am a healthy person and my baby was healthy. Was not expecting to be dropped so abruptly so close to my due date. They weren't very helpful with finding other options; they suggested St. Pete's, which was terrible. But their prenatal care was great. I wish Constance could have helped me birth my baby. My advice is, if you want to birth here, have a back-up plan that you can act on and be happy with at any time, because you could get dropped over the smallest diversion from "normal".

She's managed getting my records transferred, makes sure my lab appointments are scheduled on time and is essentially a pregnant gal's best friend. No stress for me, she's shouldered it all and been supportive the whole way through. And that's without even going into the fact that it feels like you're visiting your 2nd home, rather than a doctor's office, and that's a good thing considering how many times you'll be visiting during your pregnancy! I'm a practicing birth doula who met Lizz and Elliott years ago in a professional setting, and knew after watching them first hand that they were the midwives I wanted when it was my turn. They held me through the great mystery of pregnancy and when we learned that my baby was breech and my plan for a homebirth was no longer in the cards, Lizz and Elliott offered me the support I deeply needed to feel confident and at peace moving forward with a sacred planned cesarean birth. I'll never forget our sweet third trimester visits looking at my son on ultrasound and marveling that he loved being head up. This tone of celebration and acceptance of how things were unfolding and my informed decision to belly birth absolutely led to me having an empowered birth experience, free of trauma and regret, full of the oxytocin that good midwifery care facilitates. I continued my follow-up support with them once I returned home from the hospital, something that was important to me when I decided to work with community midwives. I can confidently say that I achieved my goal for my birth which was that no matter how things might unfold I wanted to feel held and cared for medically, emotionally and spiritually by my team. Sharing some sweet film photos that my doula snapped during a prenatal visit with Lizz!
