Pain-free, gentle dental care is what you get w/ Dr. Gusmano and his staff! My teeth feel so clean and smooth right now...that I had to write a review....PS I've been to other dentists in Florida and California, and Nobody else that I've been to can compare to the care that I receive here...They are just simply amazing! With or without dental insurance this is the only place I would go from now on...I'd rather fly back to NY for my cleanings and dental exams than go to anyone else... FYI - If you do have a cavity that needs to be filled, they use laughing gas through a pleasant smelling nose mask and then apply a topical numbing agent, and then they do the numbing injection in that same spot - which doesn't hurt at all, so when you get work done in your mouth, you might hear it, but you don't feel pain...and they fill cavities with a white filling, so you can't even really tell where you had a cavity, so your teeth still look great! Hope this helps ease your fears if you're one of those that are scared of the dentist. This dentist office is definitely for you!

We've been going to this dentist office for almost 20 years, and it's with a heavy heart that I say…read moreI can no longer recommend this place. My youngest daughter got a referral from her orthodontist for 2 extractions (baby teeth that never fell out on their own, braces time). At the first appointment they needed me there as her mother, totally understandable. She brought her older sister, 29, along instead since she's her comfort person and dentists make her nervous. I took a day off work for her next appointment, not knowing if she might be in a lot of pain, but instead the doctor wanted to speak with her orthodontist first. Another wasted day off. We complied and helped set up that conversation. They agreed the dentist would do the extractions and then also install her brackets, which we later found out after speaking with our insurance makes more sense financially for them since extractions alone don't pay as well through insurance. Then we waited over a month, having to call the office ourselves just to find out if insurance had approved anything. Understandable that processing takes time, but frustrating that we had to keep chasing them for updates, especially since this office used to communicate so well. We finally got an appointment almost 6 months out. Meanwhile her orthodontist had already started wires and brackets on her other teeth and was just waiting on us to get this done. On August 17th we got a call saying there was an opening sooner, so we jumped on it. I took yet another day off. We showed up and waited over 45+ min before I finally asked the front desk what was going on. Turns out we'd simply been forgotten, again understandable, people make mistakes. But once we were finally seen, we were told nothing could be done because they never ordered the supplies needed for the bracket installation. All that time, all that stress on my daughter, for nothing. The doctor kept saying he wasn't sure what happened since it's not really his office (they rotate a few different doctors through who are only there once a week or a couple times a month, and it shows). I asked to speak with him and the office manager and no one took any responsibility. It turned into finger pointing, and their solution was to reschedule yet again and suggest I just find a new orthodontist. The worst part was that all of this played out in front of my daughter, who was already anxious about this procedure looming over her for the third time. Watching the adults around her act unprofessional only made her more convinced something was actually wrong with her teeth. For context, this office was acquired by Dental Care Alliance about a year ago (not sure exact time), and it's gone downhill since. Prices jumped noticeably, which we accepted since we know that's often out of an individual office's hands. But they've also lost a HUGE amount of staff this past year, especially at the front desk, and I think that's a big part of why things have fallen apart. Profits shouldn't come at the expense of patients. You lost staff and now you are losing patients. This used to be a place with some of the most knowledgeable, experienced doctors around, run like a well-oiled team. I can't say that anymore. It feels like corporate greed took over and hollowed it out. One bright spot: the hygienists here are still some of the kindest, most professional people you'll meet. If you end up in their chair, you're lucky. They are the only reason this wasn't a 1 star review, you'll probably see tons of positive reviews for them. Just don't expect the same from the rest of the experience anymore.

I was lucky there had been a cancellation today, so they asked me if I could come in then and I said "SURE!" I found everyone there to be very nice and courteous. The entire office exam / cleaning rooms were clean and neat. This was without question the best dental practice I've ever been to. Finally, after trying to let it run it's course, it became too painful to bear any longer! I called Family Dental at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday, asking if they could see me that day. Their answer? Come now! Wow! That impressed me. Anyway, long story short, Dr. Jeff Wechsler saw me immediately, confirmed my (own) diagnosis, took precautionary X-rays just in case, and gave me a few mouth rinses to ease the pain while it heals. He was courteous, professional and very easy to talk to. A refreshing change from most dentists! I happily have found a new dentist and the best part is that he's only right down the road from me! A new issue arose for me in which a root canal over fifty years ago created slightly odd sensation…read morethat my regular dentist - Dr Barry Morse of the Ridge Dental in Montvale, NJ suggested might best be reviewed, imaged, diagnosed and treated by the eminently talented, equipped and capable Dr. Mi Sun Chun of Mid County Endodontic Group. With my previous experience, I was not averse to returning to her care. With a detailed scan rendering a three dimensional image, we saw my problem was a pea sized void in my jaw above the old root canal. Dr Chun advised it was an infection which seemed to be gaining the upper hand thus causing the change in sensation that I noticed. Dr Chun explained the procedure by which she would resolve my problem. This involved cutting my gum and peeling it away so she could drill directly into my jaw to clean out the infected and necrotic area, drop in something to boost restorative bone regrowth, stitch my gum back in place and send me home for a week after which she would remove the stitches while checking my overall recovery. This technique is more direct and prevents damage to an old dental repair that served well for half a century by not drilling back through the root canal risking the integrity of the crown. I demanded pain medication because this sounded deep and horrendous, to be frank. I was extremely disappointed that I walked out of the office after the procedure with nothing but some high strength Motrin & Tylenol and a prescription for a whopping four Tramadol which I viewed as woefully insufficient for what I faced recovering from this deep wound and bone drilling/grinding/scrubbing/cleaning. As it turned out, Dr Chun was correct. The biggest pain I had after the surgery was a slight discomfort where my lip had been folded out of the way during the procedure. I never even bothered taking the supplied Motrin or Tylenol. Finally, let me explain that I switched employers and so my dental insurance no longer covered Mid County Endodontic as IN NETWORK. The office put through the paperwork that same day so reimbursements were speedy if not for the overwhelming majority of the charges. There was never any question in my mind whom I would allow to perform this work on me. Choosing an In Network endodontist would have saved me a lot of money. I decided I am entitled to the best. Naturally, this means I stick with Dr Chun and Mid County Endodontic Group regardless of what insurance will or will not cover. I suggest you do the same.

Also, I liked how Stef noticed the dental light was shining in my eyes and moved it. The office is beautiful and I liked that they didn't push any extra products. If your teeth are otherwise fine and you are having no difficulties and this practice starts acting dramatically, painfully probing your gums claiming you have alarming bone loss and telling you you need more than a regular cleaning, like a deep cleaning or dental scaling and root planing as they told me, run and get a 2nd opinion stat!!! I did and found out from a reputable practitioner that East Madison exaggerated my bone loss, suggesting that I would soon lose my teeth, evidently to frighten me into agreeing to a totally unnecessary, painful and expensive procedure. I was told by my new dentist who also gently checked that my bone loss was not severe and I was not at risk for losing my teeth, dhouldI live to be 100 as long as I continue to take care of them as I have. East Madison is a multi-practice complete with endodontists and state of the art, expensive equipment and the money to pay for it all reasonably has to come from its clients. Understandable, that there would be a somewhat larger bill at such a practice if run ethically. Unfortunately, the temptation to push unneeded procedures must be high. Better to go to a well-reviewed small practice. I found this article useful and hopefully you will too if you find yourselves in a similar position.
