We were here on a Saturday summer evening. The restaurant was half full. The waiters are friendly and take good care of the guests. We decided to order the three course menu. You can choose your courses out of a selection of fish pasta lamb and chicken. I guess these courses change by season. A Rucola salad was our starter, with a light balsamico dressing and sundried tomato pieces. The balsamico dressing itself was very tasty and fit perfectly to the tomatoes and Rucola. As our main courses we had a catfish roll with red onions on top and a corn fed chicken breast with tomatoes. Both main courses were very delicious. The fish melted almost on our tongues. At first I was a bit afraid about the red onions on top, but they were the perfect match to the fishes taste. The chicken breast was also tasty and easy to cut. You also have the chance to order a wine recommendation to the different courses for an additional fee. We ordered that as well. So each of us had a perfectly matched wine to the different courses. Wines came from California and Europe. For the chicken there was a rich red wine served. For the catfish a white wine which smelled like a flower bouquet. A fresh summer wine the best partner you can imagine. Our dessert of the day was a chocolate mousse followed by a scoop of vanilla ice cream filled with one pistachio surrounded from a passion fruit juice lane. One thing we would have to complain about is the filling of the glasses. Our waiter was a bit overexcited and filled our glasses so quick that some drops of water or wine jumped out of the glasses. We kinda liked the interior. All dark wood and creme color chairs and tables. It feels like you would be in the USA. Prices for the three course menu are 39,50 Eur per Person. For the four course menu around 46 Eur. The wine recommendation are 12,50EUR per Person. Prices for the 3-4 courses menu are a very good deal. Portions are ok and you are satisfied after you ate it. Prices for regular dishes start at 20 Eur depending on what you order. US beef was 39 EUR. But 8,50 Eur for a bottle of Apollinaris sparkling water is seriously too much. All in all together it was a good decision to celebrate our anniversary at the New Brick California Restaurant. We will be back for sure. read more
