I remember the first time I came to New Bombay with my husband. I was so curious to try "real Indian food" in Asia that I've ordered a very spicy dish. Some glasses of ice tea later, I've found out that asking for a "hot" dish is something that separates the men from the boys. Well, I'm not that brave. So I always keep this word in mind: Mild. Mild. Mild. Mild.
Lesson learned, I always have a great time at this restaurant. I like the décor, specially the furniture. The wooden tables have beautiful golden drawings with Indian patterns. There's also a TV, which is always showing some Bollywood music video. I consider it part of the ambience and must confess I have a lot of fun watching it while eating.
By the way, something I appreciate about this place is that they organize their menu according to different regions of India, so we can have an idea of its different cultures and gastronomic traditions.
I highly recommend the (mild!) Chicken Biryani. Pair it with one of their lassis - all are good, but my favourite is the almond one. read more
