I use this car service on Saturday same location same destination they gave me a set price for 20 then I used it the very next day same time and they jacked up the price to 26 then he told me it was actually 25 and then he gave me a final price of 23 at that point Uber was charging less for a ride so I said never mind and then the operator laughed in my ear and said go ahead and pay extra $35 for an Uber then and then hung up. The most unreliable cab service in New York City the phone operators always have an attitude & sometimes give the driver the wrong address.. they also hang up on you before you're done speaking and ignore your call if you call back to see how far your cab is! This morning, I called to request a taxi at 7:32am. The dispatcher (who already seemed annoyed) stated, "5 mins" and I said ok thank you. 10 mins go by, 20 mins go by. I tried to call the base atleaset 10 times and was placed on an automatic hold. 35 mins go by and I keep actively calling, to no avail. Literally after 45 mins I had to make other arrangements. Totally unacceptable and unnecessary. If you did not have enough cars or didn't have a better estimate of time, PLEASE state that. To have people waiting for an outrages amount of time and then refusing to answer the phone is simply unprofessional and a poor practice. I will not be trying to ever book with again. This car service is absolute trash. They were contracted through Centrek a Medical Transpiration provider to pick me up at 1pm. I'm no stranger to the way car services usually leave medical fares on the back burner but they were assigned the job over 48 hours ago. They knew they had a 1pm pick up. The automated system confirmed the job this morning and I had a second confirmation by phone shortly before 1pm. They never sent the car. I called them at 1:20 and the Dispatcher claimed they were removed from the call. A complete and utter lie. I double checked with Centrek and they never took them off the call and as far as they knew New Bell should have been outside waiting. I called the dispatcher back and he lied again saying he had nobody to send. It was already 1:30 at this point, he knew this morning he had to pick me up at 1, and he could have canceled the job or turned it away so another car service could do it, but instead he lied and by the time another service picked me up I was over 30 minutes late to my appt which was cut short. Which leads me to part 2. They were also contracted for the return trip which was scheduled for 3pm. They didn't decline that job either and didn't send anyone for that pick up either. Thanks to COVID regulations I couldn't simply wait inside the Medical Office, so I was stuck waiting outside for an hour while Centrek found another car service and another driver. This car service is garbage. They could have turned down the fare, they could have sent a driver in advance to make sure they were in the area at the proper time. They did not. I worked Car Service for nearly 20 years and I've worked with dispatchers during that time too and there is no way my fare caught the dispatcher by surprise. They receive a list of all the Medical fares they have taken on contract every morning and have a live screen showing updated jobs all day. A business that knowingly leaves a medical client waiting on the street or without a ride to their appointment when it would have cost them nothing to do the right thing doesn't deserve your business. Horrible Horrible Horrible Service !!! I was waiting with my 84 year old grandmother over 1hour and 15mins for a driver. My first call of the ordeal was initiated at 5:33pm, the dispatcher was aware that I was with my elderly grandmother and told me a driver would pick us up in 15-20mins. At 5:59pm I called to get an ETA, the dispatcher said a minivan was 4 mins away. At 6:10pm, I called once again and the dispatcher stated that I had to wait due to traffic. At 6:25pm, I called again and told the dispatcher I had been waiting for an hour his exact words "that's impossible, my love" After informing him that it was possible and that I was not his love he made up some excuse of the system not getting my phone number correct. He told me to wait 10mins that he was dispatching another car. The amount of frustration coursing through my body was inexplicable but I remained calm. The victim of this dispatcher's inefficient job handling and improper customer service was my poor grandmother that waited so long to get a ride back him from her medical appointment. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE. Stay clear. The icing on the whole experience, the driver rode maskless and talked the entire ride on his cell phone. When time came to pay I asked the driver to call the dispatcher. I told the dispatcher that due to the horrible customer service and the unsafe driver that NEWBELL will be covering my ride. The dispatcher stated that he would cover the ride on the contingency that they would no longer provide me with their service. I stated that he was doing me a favor by not providing me with with such service and he hung up the line. read more

Yesterday, Wednesday, September 30, 2020, I waited for over an an hour outside with my shopping cart and 3 bags of laundry. Initially, I was told 7 minutes. I waited for almost 30 minutes, called back and was told that the delay was because of traffic. I was sent a text message from 347-932-5302 stating that the driver was 17 minutes away; then 20 minutes; then nineteen minutes separated by at least 10 minutes in between. With the Coronavirus in place New Bell Car Service was the first car service that I called. And yesterday, one of the the customer service representative was laughing as he told be me that a car would be there in 5 more minutes. To New Bell Car Service - YELP, "...publish crowd-sourced reviews about businesses" --- where very unsatisfied customer can complain - normally I don't complain - but yesterday was way beyond ridiculous!!! I have used New Bell Car Service on a regular basis since 2015. They pick me up and take me to work and bring me home in the evenings. I find the service to be excellent and the drivers are competent and very pleasant. Due to a spinal condition, I call them when I need to go shopping and to the doctor, and other places. You call the card here and they tell you 10 minutes and 25 minutes after not only they don't come to pick you up the route and because they are in the wrong side of the street and you're trying to tell them why you are ready outside so they don't wait in the call. They are route. They cancel the car and they don't even have the decency to let the customer know that because they thought that your tone was added to "" attitude they cancel well I'm waiting there after work with my kid and then they give me an added to this Car Service . Never would I use their service. Their call center do not own the car. The car is own by the driver. Whatever the driver do that is illegal, they do not claim any responsibility. One driver parked his car and went to bed in his house right in front of a contractor that offers 24hr service and a residential unit. Call center does not provide nor have information about the driver and the driver was just ride when it comes to illegal parking a car. No apology what so ever. I use New Bell all the time when I have to travel for work or when we just need a car service cause we're lazy. I have never had a problem with these guys, which is really different from most other car services I've tried in Brooklyn. If they say they're coming at a particular time, they're there a few minutes before. If they say "five minutes", it's almost never more than 10 (which I think is pretty much ok). The cars are fine, the drivers are always professional and usually kind of friendly, and the prices are what you'd expect to pay. Plus, last time I went to LaGuardia, they picked me up in a crazy new SUV and the driver gave me tips on where to get the best Senegalese food in NYC... read more

I just used this car service today. I was at Lafayette and Tompkins, after a back to school fair organized by Project Re-generation. I was tired after sitting in the sun for hours, yelling over the loud music and talking to dozens of people about the services the non-profit I work at offers. I called New Bell, gave them my spot, and they picked me up 5 minutes later. 20 minutes later I was in lower Manhattan, and the driver helped me unload all my shit (there was a lot of it) and gave me my receipt. To the person below who says car services are supposed to be cheaper than metered taxis -- I don't know what planet you live on, but I've lived in various parts of NYC for 7 years and have never found that to be the case. All car services are, as a rule, more expensive than a metered cab you hail from the street. Regarding the safety of the cars, maybe I'm just naive, but I've never noticed them to be particularly bad or old cars. They're about as nice and as old as anybody I know who owns a car in the city, so I'd assume taking New Bell is about as safe as catching a ride with a friend. I joined Yelp for the sole purpose of reviewing this terrible car service. To say this is the worst car service I have ever had is not doing its terribleness justice. It's the worst service I've had anywhere for any service, ever. Maybe the time the dentist jacked up my root canal was worse, but this car service would be a close second After asking the driver 6 times if he took a credit card at the start of the drive, he only answered after I threatened to get out of the car if he would not answer the question. Then he have some unintelligible excuse as to why he couldn't. Then he couldn't understand the address we have him. Then he couldn't read the address when we wrote it down for him. Then he couldn't operate his gps. Then he couldn't follow the gps directions. He avoided all convenient routes in favor of the most congested routes, and merely grunted when we gave him suggestions. This is one of the few reliable car services in Bed Stuy - that I know of. I've been using them consistently for over a year; it's generally fine. I don't need fancy, I don't even need comfort. I need a driver who knows where s/he is going, and to be on time within 5 minutes or so. Every so often, something terrible happens with New Bell which makes me swear never to use them again. But, I don't know any good alternatives... Yesterday I sent a car to pick up a print order that I need TODAY for a special event. The print lace was closing at one, I called New Bell at 12:10. Should have been easy. But around 12:30 I called the printing place to confirm the pickup, and no one had been there yet. So, I called New Bell and the dispatcher put me on hold for 10 minutes, finally coming on line to tell me that the first driver he sent got "in trouble with the cops" and that he was sending a second driver. Needless to say, I missed the 1:00 pickup deadline and I SWEAR, I am never going to use them again! read more

Usually when I finish working after 9pm I take a cab to get home faster and safer. Well, this until today. Had no battery on my phone so asked the doorman to call a car service and unfortunately he called New Bell Car Service.... From the beggining my ride was a disaster. Driver didn't understand the address even after spelling it to him. I know it can be a little complicated to understand and speak a second language (English isn't my first language) but if you have a job that you really need to communicate,do your best. He was ok taking my directions. He didn't drive in a safe way, the whole time he was speeding, tailgating and talking to his "mami" on the phone. When I almost got to my destination I asked him to stop (I felt safer walking at 12:15am as he was paying attention to his "mami" on the phone and not the road). Usually they charge me $20-25. (I take a cab at least twice a week from a different car service). As I wasn't sure I asked and he said $35....When I complained he was rude and tried to intimidate me raising his voice. He called the base and told them the address but unfortunately he doesn't know the difference between F,S or X , 6,16 or 60 so gave the base any address but mine. Well, after a long day of work I could not take this bs and decided to write this review but as I was expecting the price variation, speeding and communication seem to be a commom problem in this company. read more

I've been really lucky using New Bell so far. It's been 2 months. Using them 3X a week to go into the city. I usually call around 7:50 and the car is there by 8AM. Not bad if you ask me. The cars are a bit newer than other car services I've used and prices are average. When I take a cab back to Brooklyn Bed-Stuy it costs around 22 from the city. Going into the city using New Bell it costs 27. For a car service I feel it's acceptable. read more

Very poor communication from the start. Was told $45/hour to drive my visiting family of 7 people around manhattan for 1 hour and that a minivan would pick us up in 10 minutes. It was 6:40pm. A small SUV showed up at 7:00pm that could fit 6 guests, so we had to squeeze, quite uncomfortably. The drive was fine and we returned at 8:30pm. At that point, the driver called the dispatcher and together on speakerphone they demanded $90 for the full 2 hours because they were charging me from the moment I ordered the car over the phone at 6:40 (rather than when the driver arrived at my house at 7). It was a bit unfair, but more offensively, the demeanor was unprofessional, unfriendly and left me with a distasteful view of their service.
