Design Consign - 3rd Annual Taste of Italy September 28, 2016

    Design Consign

To preface, I have happily been to Consign Design several times to browse and purchase! Those…read moreexperiences have always been very pleasant, staff, always friendly and accommodating. I've joyfully purchased furs, boots, scarves... shall I go on? Lol Today, however, my experience was, at best, humiliating. Today, I came with a small bag of donations, a few gently worn items and some new "Chico's" dresses still with purchase tags. I had no idea there was a protocol to follow: 1. Make an appointment 2. Everything must be pressed and on hangers... I was only 'stopping-by" to to good deed... nothing more. The woman who greeted me, very curtly told me that I was supposed to have made an appointment. After the dressing down for no appointment, she said she'd see me. Then, giving my small bag the once over without opening it, told me she couldn't take anything, to take it back because everything had to be on hangers. She then opened the bag and showed me how very wrinkled my things were and launched into a dissertation about how there wasn't enough 'woman power' to press all the clothes. She said I could take my things elsewhere. I am so glad there were no other customers in the shop within earshot... I was mortified. I told the woman that I had no idea there were rules to follow, I was only doing a good deed. (Please note: I do understand that, as with anything, there need to be guidelines. Surely I would have complied had I known.) The woman then told me to leave the bag and she'd go through it, keep what she felt acceptable and 'donate' the rest. She thanked me and then, in a somewhat condescending tone, invited me to browse. I thanked her and said, "I don't think so.". I left feeling embarrassed and quite hurt. Shame on that woman... she should not be allowed to represent Consign Design! Her unkindness caused unnecessary hurt and humiliation ... and isn't that what Consign Design champions against? From the moment we first contacted them, we felt supported and heard. Dori was kind, attentive, and incredibly respectful, guiding us through each step of the process with patience and grace. Her staff was equally professional and respectful, especially on the day of the funeral since it was raining. They handled every detail with precision--from the preparation and presentation to the service arrangements--ensuring that everything was seamless and dignified. She even handled the flower arrangements and the church services which made the process less overwhelming. The facilities were immaculate and peaceful, creating a comforting environment for our family and guests. Most importantly, they honored our loved one's memory in a way that felt deeply personal and meaningful. Our mom wanted a closed casket, but Dori and her team made her look so beautiful, they way we remembered her when she was well, so we had an open viewing. Also, during the procession to pass by the house, Dori got out of the car and placed a rose by the Madonna in front of her home. These extra touches to honor her memory really left a lasting impression on us all. We are incredibly grateful for their exceptional service and would not hesitate to recommend Stellato to anyone in need of compassionate, high-quality care during such a sensitive time. With sincere thanks, Christina S.

She was very sweet and empathetic while preparing the arrangements for my grandmother's funeral service. It was overwhelmingly touching that she, on her own doing, added special sentimental details during the services. On the day of the service, she prayed with us and guided through each step, ensuring we felt supported as a family. Following that, we were then led in a procession to pass my grandma's house. It was then that Dori got out of her car and put a beautiful pink rose in front of my grandma's house to honor her. The procession led us to her church service and the pallbearers were professional and respectful while carrying her casket to and from the hearse to the church. The next moment was so sweet and carrying on behalf of Dori. During our first initial meeting, my mother had mentioned where my grandma, her mother, had worked for over 40 years. My mother explained just in conversation how she built her career and loved her job, while still being a wonderful mother and wife. As the mass ended and we headed to the cemetery, we were led past the building in which my grandma worked for so many years. Dori was so attentive and listened to my mother so intensely on our first meeting and added the special detail of passing the building that she had worked so many years ago. We then found out at the cemetery that Dori had planned that sweet gesture to honor my grandmother. We were all so taken back in a wonderful way. My family was so grateful that Dori went above and beyond in doing this gesture to honor my grandmother. My family and I highly recommend using the Stellato Funeral Home in Fairfield. Dori was an angel during our time of need.
