My husband and I were on a road trip in Scotland and we made an unplanned detour to visit ride the gondola at the Nevis Mountain Range Experience.
We arrived on a very rainy and cloudy September afternoon and the mountain was fairly empty, with the exception of a few hard-core mountain bikers. The rain and wind made the gondola ride a little scary. I'm sure that we were safe the entire time, but it felt dicey.
The experience would have been great on a clear day, as I'm sure that the views are stunning. Unfortunately, we experienced terrible visibility and even though it was a vacation experience ( really this is an area that we are not likely to easily return to), it definitely wasn't enjoyed in the best weather.
It was too cold outside to really linger. We took a quick look in the Nature Discovery Centre and had a bite to eat in the cafe. The cafe wasn't anything spectacular, but it did just fine for a quick and hearty lunch. read more
