    Mamey

This was stop 6 of 7 on my Polanco walking tour. Everyone's favorite local spot. I was sold just by the fact they had mamey. There were so many other flavors. Can't wait to try more on my next visit.

    Pistachio and Kahlua double scoop

Had to check out Neveria Roxy after being recommended it by multiple friends. We went to the location in Condesa after dinner at Taqueria Turix. I was somewhat taken aback by how expensive a small double scoop was--approximately 5-6 USD (comparable to the artisanal ice cream places in the US like Salt and Straw) but a treat is a treat. I got the pistachio flavor and Kahlua almond (both were dairy based). They were good, but nothing show-stopping. I remember one of the flavors being a little bit on the icy side, which was a little disappointing for such a well-loved institution in CDMX. Based on the reviews, I should have tried some of the sorbets (like the tamarind).

This hit the sweet spot. The ice cream is full of flavor and creamy. I like this ice cream better than the place across the street. I recommend the banana split or a sundae. The ice cream also taste great on its own.

Light ice cream, sweet but nit too sweet, tried the nuez flavor , had tasty almond bits, would recommend

    Tamarind and passionfruit sorbet

If you want to try some of the best fruit sorbets, look no further. We stumbled upon Nevería Roxy while exploring CDMX on a weekend trip. I was already full from churros but had to stop when I saw tamarind sorbet on the menu. Tamarind sorbet is absolutely incredible and so hard to find! We ordered a large scoop of it as well as a savor chico was basically chiku/sapota. The tamarind was soooo delicious that I came here every day of my trip to indulge in a scoop. I also tried the maracuya/passionfruit which was amazing. The mandarin and strawberry were great picks too. Service was super friendly so I highly recommend! I love the old school ice cream parlor vibes of this place!

Yummy! We went 3 times during our visit in this neighborhood over 8 days. We tried Menta, Chocolate, Pistachio, Macadamia.

Lardo - Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms

Maybe Lardo is better for breakfast, but we didn't feel it was fully worth the hype for lunch. We'd…read moremade a reservation in advance for Saturday at 2PM. The interior was brightly lit with a large beautiful bar, and had the vibe of a French cafe. We were brought out some complimentary (pita-like) bread, which was nice, but would have been better with something like olive oil to dip it in. My friend and I ordered 3 items to share - the Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms, Eggplant Parmesan, and Barbacoa. Portions were on the smaller side, but this was the perfect food quantity for us. The Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms were fine but a little bland. I liked the Eggplant Parmesan and Barbacoa, but neither really blew my mind. For everything I'd heard about Lardo, I felt like our experience was good but not amazing. Would check it out for breakfast to compare!

We arrived a little early for our Monday night reservation and had to wait outside since they were busy. The ambiance inside is intimate- definitely a date-night vibe with tables very close together. We ordered the pizza, stuffed squash blossoms, kebab taco, and truffle gnocchi. The stuffed squash blossoms ended up being the most flavorful dish of the night- and that's not saying much, because most of the flavor came from the tomato sauce. The pizza was good, but nothing special. It was satisfying in a "carbs will save me" kind of way. We ordered the kebab taco cooked medium, but mine came out medium rare. If this were a steak, I wouldn't have minded, but ground beef at that temperature carries a food safety risk. After reading multiple reviews about people getting sick here, I wasn't comfortable taking that chance. I asked for it to be recooked, and the waitress was kind and brought out a fresh plate. It was decent, but again, nothing special. The truffle gnocchi was where things really went downhill. When it hit the table, it smelled like mildew. I know truffle can be strong and earthy, but this didn't seem right. I forced myself to take one bite so I wasn't judging off smell alone, but it tasted exactly how it smelled. My friend and I didn't even eat 1/8 of the dish, and it was the most expensive item we ordered. Low key felt like our waitress should've asked why we didn't eat the dish nor ask for it to be boxed but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The dessert, however, was the best thing I had all night. Truly divine. Now I can't tell if it was actually top-tier or if I was just so hungry and desperate for something good that it felt that way in the moment- but either way, it was the one bright spot. Overall, it just didn't live up to the hype which made it sting even more.

The pastries and service were delicious. While they do not have indoor seating, it was very pleasant to sit outside on the sidewalk and people-watch. We tried three different pastries: a plantain pudding pastry, a fruity meringue pastry, and a very unique peanut butter and chapulines cruffin. All were excellent. My only piece of constructive feedback is regarding the payment process. We had to pay for the pastries separately from the coffee, which made the experience less smooth. It would be much more convenient if everything could be paid for on a single check. Overall, it was a wonderful spot!

The service was attentive and friendly--occasionally a little slow, but that's part of the relaxed rhythm of being in Mexico. The outdoor seating is charming, surrounded by greenery and decorated with natural plants, which creates such a pleasant atmosphere to start the day. I especially enjoyed the Betty juice made with beets--it was fresh, vibrant, and absolutely delicious. The pastry selection feels endless, unlike anything I've experienced elsewhere in Mexico. During our visit, they were offering pan de muerto for Día de los Muertos, with a creative twist: a rich chocolate filling. It was outstanding! Overall, my friends and I had a wonderful experience here--delicious food, a beautiful setting, and a bakery that truly makes you want to come back again and again.
