Had to check out Neveria Roxy after being recommended it by multiple friends. We went to the location in Condesa after dinner at Taqueria Turix. I was somewhat taken aback by how expensive a small double scoop was--approximately 5-6 USD (comparable to the artisanal ice cream places in the US like Salt and Straw) but a treat is a treat. I got the pistachio flavor and Kahlua almond (both were dairy based). They were good, but nothing show-stopping. I remember one of the flavors being a little bit on the icy side, which was a little disappointing for such a well-loved institution in CDMX. Based on the reviews, I should have tried some of the sorbets (like the tamarind). read more

Perfect for a quick ice cream treat to-go or sitting in and enjoying with family or friends. Pricing is very inexpensive compared to some of the more boutique ice cream shops near the area. Short of carbon-dating the place, I couldn't tell you when Nevería Roxy was established. What I could tell you is that Nevería Roxy is my vision of a Mexico City ice cream joint circa 1950's. It looks like a place my mom and dad would've gone to while courting, to share an ice cream soda, had they met in Mexico City rather than LA. It's fairly impossible to walk by Nevería Roxy without noting the ever present crowd of families and couples spilling out onto the sidewalk, the bouquet of mylar balloons floating in mid-air, and the dark-skinned beggar woman leaning against the building asking for pesos. It took about five minutes of sitting at the counter, eating a scoop of mango ice cream, before I declared this "my place", certain that I'd stop each day as I made my way between my inn and the subway. But life intervened. On each subsequent pass, the line snaked out the door and there would be no sidling up to a counter seat. So it remained, a single scoop of Mango ice cream consumed at the counter, with which to remember Nevería Roxy. Good enough. If you're passing by and have a little time stop in for some ice cream circa 1950. In most instances, you can't go back but I'd beg to differ in the case of Nevería Roxy. If you want to try some of the best fruit sorbets, look no further. We stumbled upon Nevería Roxy while exploring CDMX on a weekend trip. I was already full from churros but had to stop when I saw tamarind sorbet on the menu. Tamarind sorbet is absolutely incredible and so hard to find! We ordered a large scoop of it as well as a savor chico was basically chiku/sapota. The tamarind was soooo delicious that I came here every day of my trip to indulge in a scoop. I also tried the maracuya/passionfruit which was amazing. The mandarin and strawberry were great picks too. Service was super friendly so I highly recommend! Solid ice cream sundae I had at Neveria Roxy. I got chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio. Flavors really good and not too sweet. That have many to choose from. The ice cream sundae is not all that big compare to the ones I've had in the NYC. You will be able to finish it. read more

Happy with homemade ice cream in Mexico City. I searched the area for ice cream and this came up almost immediately. There are the regular flavors (vanilla, chocolate etc) but what drew me were the ones that were bit out of the ordinary. I settles on the Coco con Kahlua. It was light and sweet but not as creamy as ice cream in the states with bits of shredded coconut mixed in. It was a nice treat on a warm afternoon. The consistency was more ice like that cream like, which does not factor against the ice cream itself. Why did I expect samples of the ice cream ? Must be a US thing. Restaurant was clean but it was very basic - no frills, just straight to the point. read more

You can get water based or cream based, and there's a long list of flavors to choose from. Many of the flavors are seasonal, so check back often. We had the Nuez, Coco and Mamey.
