A friend of mine invited me out to help give his wife a fun night out before she has surgery on Monday. Since I'm not a beer fan, I was hesitant about going, but after finding out that they would have several cider vendors, I knew I could join them and enjoy it myself.
The Yelp booth had a great set up with their swag table full of buttons, stickers, tattoos, shot glasses, pretzel necklaces, sweat wrist bands, chapsticks, water bottles, mints, and koozies. With a check in, you could take your pick of swag. You could take a selfie with Javier, the Zebra. And you could have fun with the props at the photo booth area. It was great helping Michael T. make sure everyone was doing their part with checking in or joining Yelp for the very first time.
The UNR Cheerleaders were walking the area selling raffle tickets for the choice of raffle prizes, where you put your tickets into a bucket in front of the prize you desired to win.
I really liked the free glass they handed out for sampling the multitude of beverages. I hit up my favorite cider vendor, Common Cider, where I got my favorite flavor blood orange tangerine. And then I tried their Perry, a pear cider, which became my new favorite. Another vendor mixed Redd's Apple Cider with Fireball and that was really tasty. And the drink that hit my taste buds the best wasn't a cider, but a spiced orange ginger beer. I wish I remembered the name of the company because it was amazing and I would love to know how to get more.
Also, enjoyed the music that I think a dj was playing throughout the evening. There was a dance floor area, but I never made it over there because I was too busy laughing with my friends, meeting new friends, or helping the Yelp booth.
As this is an annual event, I hope to return next year for another night out of great drinks, great friends, and great fun. read more
