I've taken Calculus and Biology classes at NSC during the summer - pretty intense 6-week semester. I've taken a Biology class at CSN but I had to drop it because the instructor gave me the "this is just my part-time job and I don't really care" vibe. And I've heard the same complaint from friends that went there. The instructors at NSC will push you to try harder. Sure, it seems like a lot of work and it can be difficult but in the end, you'll be glad the instructors teach the way they do. You'll retain information for years...it's not just about memorizing a bunch of things but more thinking and applying knowledge. The instructors seem tough and some of them have made people cry in class or get really upset/ offended. You're here to learn, think and work hard. If you're lazy and not self-motivated, this is not the school for you. They're expanding and adding more buildings. When I first went here, it was only the Dawson building and the LAS building was being built. Now, they have the NSE building and a student center. Campus security is also very helpful unlike other schools' who's busy issuing parking tickets and offers zero assistance when you need them! I was on campus at 5am to avoid EDC traffic and I had an exam. I was reading my notes in the parking lot and it was pretty dark. Campus security let me in the building and my room so I could study. That was very nice.

Yelp 100 Challenge 14' * 30/100 Quaint new-ish campus located south of Las Vegas with open views of bare mountains and an absence of the glam city vibe. College students who aren't in luck with registering for their desired course at the local community college for summer or think UNLV fees are a little too burdensome on the wallet, Nevada State is a great go-to. Because it's so new, rest assured the campus is spotless, if not what I would call a little sparse. It's quite a walk to get from one building to another. Plenty of comfy couches at the Liberal Arts and Science building for studying and a balcony on the first floor that overlooks the city. As far as the classes go, I appreciate the small class size which is particularly important for an organic chemistry course. The professor is very hands on and is able to give personal attention to students. I do not know about getting a bachelor's degree here but have had a number of nursing friends who got hired right after graduating and passing their NCLEX with flying colors. If there should be a concern, it's getting here that may pose as an inconvenience for many. In the meantime, while I wait to take my roadtest, I still have to take the bus here - 3 buses to be exact. So you can imagine how early I have to be out of the house just to make it in time for my 8am class. What this boils down to is that NSC gets a two thumbs up from me. I got really ecstatic when this family of Gambel's Quails came teetering behind me at the stop. So this is where they reside!

The bookstore is a great spot right next to the food court. Here they can help you find all of your required textbooks in house along with most back to school Essentials like backpacks, pins, stationary, etc. A ton of cool Nevada State College swag to choose from as well! Staff is super friendly and can answer almost any school related question you may have. You can also reload your scorpion card here if you need to make copies.

With that being said, from what I understand, some of your doctor or nurse practitioner visits may include a student that shadows the professional. The nurse practitioner that I saw, I got the OK because my girlfriend has been coming her for a couple years. So I don't know who here is or is not accepting new patients at this time. I can tell you that I got the most thorough initial evaluation with all my questions answered, and no rush at all, which is an oddity in today's medical world. The facility itself in the areas that I saw were very clean and everybody was extremely friendly. I truly look forward to our next visit.

The day prior to the appointment, I received a confirmation call requesting that I arrive 30 minutes early for my 8am appointment. Unfortunately, I already had a meeting scheduled from 6:30am - 7:30am so I could not do this. I arrived for my appointment at 7:55am. I am already an established patient of the clinic and my insurance had not changed, so there was no need for me to fill out forms or do any insurance updates. I was turned away from my appointment that I had arrived ON TIME for, because I didn't arrive 30 minutes early, after waiting to be seen for 3 weeks, with an issue involving pain. I even explained to the front desk that I AM A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER who owns/runs my own primary care practice and I had blocked off time on my schedule specifically for this appointment, and thus, did not have any time available within the next 3 weeks to reschedule because I have my own patients to care for. Still- no exceptions, or accommodations were made. As a business owner AND a medical clinic owner- I am foremost to understand why certain policies and procedures are set in place for an office to function smoothly. HOWEVER- I also know when to be flexible, accommodating, and when I can make exceptions from time to time. Given the fact that the office staff failed to clarify at the time the appointment was book that I was expected to arrive 30 minutes early, AND the fact that I had already waited 3 weeks for the appointment AND the fact that I am in pain... I feel that it would have been reasonable to make an exception to the rule. I will not be returning to Touro University for care, nor referring any of my primary care patients here if this is how patients are handled. I'd rather pay out of pocket and go somewhere that I am treated, firstly, as a human- and then a "customer".

Pinecrest is determined to overachieve in academics. My son is in first grade and he's currently reading at a Second grade level most likely by the end of the year he will be able to read a third-grade level. If one of your major concerns is the school systems in Nevada I would definitely recommend Pinecrest Academy. They have multiple campuses know and are opening up a high school. It's not a religious school, for some weird reason some classes get recorded when they're doing the pledge (again, I don't know why or surpiringsly how.) And every day they have teacher awards. The MPR is really big, I think it's about 10-11 inches and normal MPRs I think are like 8-9 inches, final thing they have 2 playgrounds one is really small (Recess Playground) and a huge playground that reaches 20 inches (I think, that we play at Lunch Recess) There are a few good teachers, but I didn't like Ms. Gardner a first grade teacher if she still works here, she was a teenager but now I suspect she is a young adult but so yeah, it's a great school!

Between the absolutely magical staff and the science behind how and what they teach, I couldn't have asked for more. My daughter already had an affinity for math, but what has stood out most is how much confidence and independence she's gained here. She now works through problems with ease, explains her reasoning clearly, and takes pride in solving things on her own without immediately asking for help. The Mathnasium approach really works--the balance of drills, refining skills, and stretching students to do better feels like the best kind of sports coaching for the mind. I chose to have her follow Mathnasium's provided curriculum instead of sending in what we were doing at home, and I can say without a doubt that there's something special about it. Her progress has been incredible, and it's clear that the program is designed to build both skills and love for the subject. On top of that, the staff has been nothing short of amazing. Nick and Michael have patiently answered every "silly" question I've had, accommodated a short leave when we needed it, always kept me updated on her progress, and overall been absolute gems to talk to. Riley, especially, has been exceptional in working with my daughter. She can sometimes veer off topic, and I've overheard Riley redirect her with such professionalism and gentleness. Today was her last day for a little while as we take a short break, and my daughter sobbed on the way home. That says everything about what this place means to her. Riley even wrote her the sweetest goodbye note, which melted both of our hearts. The staff here has truly become her math family, and we are so grateful for all they've done.
