Yes folks Bavaria is wonderful but you have to do your shopping before 8pm monday to a saturday - so finding this heaven at the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) has saved many a life, relationship, date and party. It might in some areas be a little pricier, less choice but meets most basic and emergency needs - hence the 5* rating. Got an excellent cold room full of beer. Spirits are behind the cash desks. Queues can be long especially weekends - Sunday evening when everyone is arriving or coming back home is a chore. But thank you for small inconveniences.

I honestly was impressed when I saw this place. So yeah, it's not the cleanest supermarket around,…read morebut the prices in here are amazingly cheap. Which is perfect if you're on a shoestring travel budget and need some food. You can buy canned or dried foods at very reasonable prices, bread loaves for 0€55, and snacks for less than 2€. They also have fresh foods (fruits and veggies and meats) if you have a kitchen that needs stocking up. Since this place was right inside the upper mall of Hackerbrücke train station, we used it as a grocery hub frequently. As with all Lidl places, carts require a rental deposit and bags cost extra. And they're closed on Sundays.

It's very similar to the ones back home, as far as layout and design. A major difference is this Aldi has a butcher shop and a bakery within its store. A very nice benefit.

They have a ton of fresh vegetables at great prices, a ton of turkish groceries and they have a fresh meat and fish counter. They also have a Turkish bakery with lots of beautiful looking breads and sweets like Baklava and so on. If you are planning a party and need things in bigger quantities there is a good chance you will find it here. Big tubs of olives, yogurts and so on. I really liked this shop and will defenitely be back here again and again.

Conveniently located near the Hauptbahnhof (the central train station) and next to several hotels,…read morethis Lidl is more targeted for the people who live in the area with the usual collection of groceries, produce and suchlike that you need on a day-to-day basis. When I stay in a hotel, I like actual milk for my morning coffee and not those little packets of powder, so I popped into this Lidl and picked up a quart (technically, a liter) of low fat milk for the hotel room fridge. There were plenty of other things that looked good, but I can't bring any of it back home, so I had to walk on by. Labels on most products are only in German, though some were in English. No worries, it's easy enough to tell by the pictures. Milk containers still look like the milk containers in the US and UK, orange juice and cheese and chicken breasts all look exactly the same no matter what the language. I also picked up a bag of the most amazing delicious chocolate hazlenut wafer cookies that I am sure I will never see again. :-( Bags are not free and you have to use a €1 coin to release a trolley. They do not accept credit cards. Cash or debit cards only.
Came here just for the Döner which was recommended as a 'Munich best'…read more The wait is surprisingly long: they certainly do take their time per Döner, and many people seem to be buying for the entire family. The Döner itself is very tasty, nicely roasted meat, generous meat vs veggies, great seasoning with a good spiciness. Nice! They could pay much more attention to keeping the eating area clean. Oh and don't expect them to have anything left after 5:30pm: they sell out hours early due to their popularity. Overall? It was good, but the wait was too long for me to come again.
